Newly updated freestanding efficiency apartment behind our home in Lake Claire (the quiet neighborhood between Decatur and Candler Park). 400 square feet with a queen size bed, fully equipped kitchen including gas stove, refrigerator, microwave (on request), dishes, pots and pans, glassware, etc, bathroom with small shower and great deck that hovers among the huge oak and pecan trees with private outside seating/dining area. Flat panel cable tv, free WiFi and plenty of on street parking. Little 5 Points is 2 miles west, downtown Decatur is 2 miles east and the East Lake Marta station is an easy 1/4 mile walk away. We love living in this neighborhood because it's the perfect Atlanta location, quiet yet close to great dining, shopping and entertainment.
We have a sweet Australian Cattle Dog/mix, but let us know if you're not a dog person, it's no problem at all keeping her out of the back yard.

Wonderful neighborhood and very nice host. The space is small and better for one rather than a couple. The window air conditioner gets annoying and never cools enough. The internet connection was strong! It is a good value for the location and I would recommend it.
The hosts were very helpful and genuinely nice people. The neighbourhood was nice and leafy. A good walk to the wonderful Candler supermarket, but worth it (plus a great way to get a workout!
My wife and I were in town checking out Atlanta for possible relocation. Jennifer's place was a terrific home base for our exploration. It was just as advertised - quiet, comfortable, and charming. It had everything we needed for our stay. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful - and easily accessible to any and all desirable parts of the Atlanta metro area. Street parking was a breeze. I'll echo previous sentiments about the shower being a bit tight; however, I'm a six-footer who truly cherishes his morning rinse and I was fine. I wouldn't hesitate to book again because of this (or anything else). It is also worth noting that Jennifer (and Susan) were awesome - very proactive, responsive, and friendly. Case-in-point: On our first morning, I found that the coffeemaker in the unit wasn't working. Within seconds (seriously!) of sending them a message, there was a beautiful loaner coffeemaker outside our door. Later that day, a brand new replacement had arrived. Some may call that enabling my ever-worsening caffeine addiction, but I call that great hospitality! :-)
After having been an Atlanta resident for 15 years, I knew the area I wanted to stay in during my recent visit. Jennifer's garden apartment was exactly what I was looking for. It was quiet and private - and the bed was fabulous. As some former posts have stated, the shower is a bit low for tall folks, but it's totally doable - and anyone who has lived in quirky, fun places won't have any issues at all. There's plenty of off-street parking - and the neighborhood is safe. Unfortunately, my visit was cut short, but the next time I plan to visit Atlanta, I will most definitely stay here. You will not be able to beat the quality of the accommodations for the price.
Loved the space and the location. Great intown neighborhood for jogging and walking, and a short walk to MARTA. I wouldn't recommend walking late to/from the station alone as it is quite dark near the station, but otherwise the train is very convenient. Overall, an awesome apartment with very accommodating hosts.
It was a treasure to find this little cottage in a great neighborhood around Atlanta city. Our stay was quiet and cozy. We were very surprised that it had a big kitchen with everything you need in such a small place. It is a great apartment surrounding by a beautiful garden. It is safe and has and excellent location to walk to the park, restaurants, Marta, and more.
Jennifer and Susan were very good hosts when we need them, were always there to help.

I stayed 11 days at Jennifer's cottage. It was exactly the way it appears in the photos; I was very comfortable and cozy here. The location of the cottage was really excellent for me: I have a student at Emory and the short drive was convenient and easy. It's also close to Decatur, which has some excellent restaurants, bars, and one-of-a-kind shops. There's less traffic getting to and from Decatur too! (Traffic in Atlanta can be daunting!) I will definitely stay here again!
I stayed with Jennifer and Susan for 6 weeks as I looked for and bought a house. They were gracious hosts--very friendly and helpful whenever I needed anything.
I can echo previous reviewers' comments: their apartment is breezy and beautiful, with some vintage furnishing. I loved the decor.
The kitchen is adequate; you can definitely make breakfast/dinner/snacks if you wanted to. They include a small fridge/freezer (small, but much bigger than the dorm room-style mini-fridge) and gas stove. There are several markets and restaurants close by, so I found myself eating out more often than staying in.
The bed was comfortable and Jennifer was willing to switch out the sheets and linens once a week. The wi-fi is strong--I streamed a lot of Netflix during my stay with no problem.
I would reiterate the caution about the shower! It worked great for me if I didn't want to lean down too much (& I'm 5'4"), but I had my 6'3" friend stand in the shower and he didn't fit. It was comical, but if you're a tall person, you'll have trouble showering comfortably.
I loved the deck off of the apartment--it's private from the main house and gets good sun. I enjoyed sitting outside and hearing the birds chirp.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend their cottage!
Perfect little place. Light, convenient to little 5 points area and candle park, clean, full thoughtful kitchen. Jennifer and Susan were communicative and available and also gave us our privacy to feel home away from home.
I came to Atlanta for a one week work-related trip. I had to be all over the Atlanta metro area, and this rental was perfect for this. I would highly recommend this place for the following reasons:
1. It's clean, airy, private, and has a nice kitchen that is stocked with more than enough utensils to make basic meals. (I had breakfast and dinner here almost daily). The only thing that may be an issue here for some taller folks is that the shower has a very low, slanted ceiling (however, the water pressure is great).
2. Jennifer is a great host. I was in ATL for a very rare cold snap, and they kindly offered extra blankets, clothes, and a room in their house if it got too cold (I was fine). I also needed to borrow a computer keyboard (mine broke), and they lent me one. They also have a dog, but they are very aware that not everyone is a dog person, so if you're not, don't worry!
3. Location. On a very pleasant, quiet street 20 mins from the airport, around the corner from the MARTA train (which is awesome-- don't drive in to the city!), and very close to the various major highways. There is also a Snap Fitness gym 2 miles away, and cute little town square with a market, etc.
I would definitely stay here again!
