Cozy Midcentury Modern Bungalow

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Alabama St, San Diego, CA 92116, United States

The Space

Hi there! We live in a cozy two bedroom one bath single story apartment. It's conveniently located north of Balboa Park in University Heights near Hillcrest and North Park. It has hardwood floors, bright light, and modern upgrades throughout.

We are LGBT friendly and live a healthy life (think eating, biking, yoga, etc)...and the community around us is as well.

The master bedroom is light and airy with a queen Westin Heavenly bed with pillowtop. It has an overhead fan, nice reading lights, and is large, quiet, and serene.

The second bedroom is large, has a queen pillow-top bed and an overhead fan. It has a small flatscreen TV with local channels and lots of books you can borrow while you are here. We can also clear some closet space if you need it.

There is one bathroom with a bath tub.

We charge $10 per person per night for anything over four people.

We have a sectional leather couch that can sleep one to two more, or you can crash on the floor with some extra blankets provided by us. Just remember...wood floors!

Grocery, Nightlife, Restaurants, coffee shops and more are all within walking distance. Whether you walk 5 minutes down the street to Mystic Mocha for a latte and scone, The Lafayette Hotel for their Saturday pool parties, Pizzeria Luigi for some homemade pizza pie, Eclipse Chocolate for dessert, or Live Wire, the local hipster bar for a brew, we live close to it all. Park Ave. is just a few blocks over and has nightlife and restaurants galore as well.

There is also a gym just behind our complex that offers a free three day membership if you need to work all that vacation food off. :)

We have a full kitchen including blender, food processor, waffle maker, coffee maker, and pots and pans, and are walking distance to Sprouts Market if you want to cook.

Drive 10 minutes and you'll be at the Airport, Balboa Park, the Zoo, Sea World, Downtown and the Gaslamp, and the Beach. Everything is pretty close around here...taxis are easy and the bus system is great. You can get around quite easily.

About us: We love good food, great wine, and excellent company. We are clean business professionals. We've traveled quite a bit, but have so many more places yet to see. Our latest adventure was a three month backpacking trip through South America. My girlfriend is a yogi and a burner, and we both try to eat pretty healthy.

We are looking for guests who will treat our place with the same respect we do, staying neat and tidy and using the space as if it were their own.

*Please make sure you are not allergic to dogs. Our small boston terrier/chihuahua mix won't be around, but for allergic reasons, I wanted to make sure it was stated. We are also open to hosting people with a friendly and well-mannered dog. No other animals please.

Lastly, please make sure you are honest and accurate with your number of guests. Thanks and happy travels! :)

  • my wife and i spent three days in jade and leahs' bungalow. it was very well furnished, arty and comfortable. the location ,close to balboa park and a few
great neighborhoods was perfect for us as our son lives close to the park. parking was the only issue, but parking is a problem all over san diego. the bungalow is part of a complex not a stand alone house, but it was dead quiet every nite and morning. tom statzell

  • I stayed at the bungalow for 5 nights while I was in SD for a conference. 5 of 5 stars. It was 10 easy minutes by car to downtown/Gaslamp area/convention center via the 163 through Balboa Park. The area was great, with good nearby restaurants. Jade and Leah left a list of their favorite places in the neighborhood so selecting a place to eat was effortless. There was even an awesome food truck a block away with some of the best Fish Tacos known to man. The bungalow itself was clean and well maintained as advertised. The beds were super comfortable and I have nothing but positive feedback to give for the accommodations. Parking was a bit tricky at peak hours but we always managed to find a spot within a block. I never actually met Jade or Leah as they were out of town during my stay but they were easy to communicate with, responded rapidly in the days leading up to my arrival, and generally were low-maintenance hosts. If I ever were to return to SD again, I would cross my fingers in hopes they still list on Airbnb!! Thanks again for a wonderful visit.

  • Jade and Leah were wonderful! They were available beforehand to give us details and information about their place. The check-in and check-out process was easy and efficient. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a list of their recommendations for restaurants, bars, and coffeeshops in the area. Their home was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The location was great for walking to local spots. We would absolutely stay here again (and we hope we get to!)

  • Jade and Leah have a truly nice place to stay when you are in San Diego. It is kind of in the middle of everywhere, very stylish decorated and SO comfy beds. They took care of everything and made our arrival very convinient. They gave us even a lot of tips for nearby bars/restaurants what helped me to get all the best pankake experience of my life!

  • Our stay at Jade and Leah’s place was fantastic. They were incredible hostesses. All communication with them was timely, responding rapidly and warmly to any and all inquiries. Upon our arrival we found a spotless apartment with two notes. One note listed the details of the place and the other was a phenomenal list of restaurant recommendations. The apartment was well located within easy walking distance to a number of spots in the neighborhood. Thanks for making our stay in San Diego and our Airbnb experience so positive!

  • My parents and I had a lovely stay at Jade and Leah's bungalow. Although we never met our host because we arrived very late at night, and very early in the morning, our host was always warm and friendly in our communications. The place is conveniently located; it's only a few minutes from the San Diego Zoo. Inside was clean and tidy and it felt like home -- I'll never book from a hotel again if I can help it. We went to 'Snooze' for breakfast which was one of the suggested places to go on a list welcoming us to the space. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was upbeat. Thanks!

  • Jade & Leah were very helpful hosts… They were able to answer our questions & had great tips to make our stay smooth. We rented the space for 2 couples & a 1 year old. It was nice to find a two bedroom apartment with a comfortable bed in each room! The location was very central, we had fun exploring some of the restaurants within walking distance as well, and there was a nice kid friendly park to walk to with our son! Thank you again Jade & Leah for sharing your home with us, we had a great time!

  • Jade and Leah's place is a great cozy bungalow in a centrally located spot. They seemed genuinely caring that we had everything that we needed and to have a good time. A very clean and safe area with easy walking to local restaurants. Their recommendation were excellent, we had a great stay and will be back if available when we travel back to San Diego.

  • What a gorgeous apartment and in such a great location. Jade and Leah went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and fun. With great recommendations for places to eat, we were so thrilled to be welcomed in their home.
I could not give a higher score or give more enthusiastic support for this charming spot.

  • Our stay at Jade and Leah's place was wonderful. They did everything to make us feel at home and left a welcome note that explained everything we needed to know and also included a list of nearby bars and restaurants. Check-in and check-out were very easy. With its two bedrooms the place is certainly big enough to sleep 4 adults. It is also clean and well situated: in a calm neighborhood but also near the freeway and local restaurants, and only a short drive away from the beaches and San Diego downtown. We could even get to the center easily using public transportation. We would certainly come back if we are in the area and can recommend the place to anybody! Thank you very much for letting us stay at your place!

We are originally from Phoenix, AZ, USA, and moved to San Diego in 2012. We love great food, excellent wine (and not so excellent wine!), good music, and traveling. Between us both, we've been to about 35 countries now...the most recent are from a trip in early 2012 to South America, and in early 2014 to Central America. We can't wait to travel more, and are hoping to get to Greece, Australia, and India soon. We enjoy SCUBA diving, yoga, Burning Man, concerts, and lots of other random things. We live pretty simply so that we have the means to travel and explore all the world has to offer. As guests, we don't need much, and we don't need a babysitter. Just a quiet place to lay our heads and a shower. We believe life is all about balance, energy, and karma. You'll get guests who treat your place and your belongings with respect and care. As hosts, we want you to enjoy your trip! However we can help make that happen, just let us know. We ask that people leave the place as close as possible to how they found it and just be respectful. We are always available for a call or text, and we make sure our guests have privacy and cleanliness. Think we'd be a good fit? We hope so! Best, Jade and Leah
