Casa de Ventanas is on the edge of the Carson National Forest yet within biking distance of Taos Plaza.
Elegant upscale Mexican contemporary on edge of national forest in Taos foothills. Serene and secluded but only four minutes to Taos Plaza, thirty minutes to Taos Ski Valley and about the same to Angel Fire. The guest wing that I rent out is actually a spacious suite of four rooms: bedroom with queen bed with memory foam mattress; full bath; sitting room with large screen tv, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven; office with desk and daybed. I generally rent to single people or couples.
If you like animals I have them and they're friendly. The dog, horse, and mini-donkey are all available for petting.
The guest wing has its own entrance from the west end of house plus a private outdoor sitting area. The great room and east wing of the house are for my personal use although long term guests can use washer/dryer by special arrangement.

Susan could not have made us feel more welcome! My daughter and I appreciated the comfort and convenience of the guest wing, including the quiet (and getting to hear Chance the horse reminding everyone when it was dinnertime!). We were in Taos to visit family, a bittersweet trip, and Susan's empathy and kindness made it a much less stressful situation. The beds were great, the views amazing, and Susan made it all so much easier for us!
What an amazing Airbnb-- one of my best experiences. The private guest wing made this listing unique, and there was even food (and toaster and French press and microwave and water heater) in the living area. Susan also has several beautiful animals, and we loved petting her horse and miniature donkey (and saying hello to the cats!). Also, the view is breathtaking, especially at sunset. Susan made herself very available to us and went out of her way to accommodate in a booking mixup. She is also incredibly interesting and well-traveled- I wish we could have spent more time getting to know her and the area! I would definitely recommend her house for your stay in Taos!!
(Oh-- and the huge TV and Breaking Bad DVDs weren't too bad, either. :))
This was one of my favorite AirBnb stays to date. I loved having my own private space in a home that is located on a beautiful property overlooking the mountains. I was enjoying myself so much in Taos that I extended my stay for another night.
Susan was very warm and welcoming and provided a very helpful booklet of things to do/places to see in Taos.
I would highly recommend this space to anyone who is looking for rest and relaxation in this very special town.
Susan was a great host, she was okay with our booking on short notice and an evening arrival. The house is beautifully designed in a classic Southwest style. We enjoyed the privacy of our room and bathroom, and appreciated the snacks she left for us in the fridge. Overall, a great experience!
Unfortunately I didn't get to spend much time here as I had a bit of a whirlwind visit. I didn't even get to pet the donkey. :( But you couldn't ask for much more from an accommodation. It's basically a luxury hotel suite, with a living area with comfy couch and big TV, a large bathroom, and a bedroom with a lovely view of the lights of Taos by night. And it's a quick and easy drive to town.
I had limited interaction with Susan, but she seems very nice. I wish my stay could have been a bit longer.
This house is very special, and Susan is awesome. I stayed here for a couple days, the place is almost like an individual studio.
Susan's place was better than advertised. Close, but off the busiest area of town, and the house was beautiful. We had our own section for us that open up to a patio with amazing views of the sunset. Susan also had the perfect recommendations for dinner that allowed us to really get to most of our trip. Highly recommended.
About the Host, Susan
My dog and I lead a quiet life, punctuated by the occasional dinner party attended by hyper verbal creative types. I'm a writer/editor/designer but my real passion is my horse, Chance. (It used to be skiing moguls until I wore out my knees.) I've lived all over the United States and, for five years, in New Zealand on a dairy farm and in Christchurch. (And I often wish I were still there!)
