The space

The Old Carrabelle Hotel is a completely renovated historic home one block from scenic Carrabelle Harbor. Decorated in airy "Key West" style, it features over 120 feet of outdoor verandas with views, is within easy walking distance to all harbor activities and five minutes from the beach. Sea birds, dolphins and other wildlife add natural interest to this breathtakingly beautiful area. (Important note: the $77 rate shown is our lowest room rate without tax. Range is up to $107 plus tax)

The picturesque village of Carrabelle lies approximately one hour southwest of Tallahassee. Our completely renovated 120-year old home is near the center of this gentle coastal town, only a block from the harbor.

Start your day with a made-to-order restaurant breakfast at a local restaurant, then to eco-exploration of water and forest. Many outdoor activities abound: from sportfishing, sailing and island-hopping to soaking up abundant sunshine on our sugar-sand beaches or paddling along a quiet river, there is something memorable for all on the lovely Forgotten Coast.

Like golf? St. James Bay is a PGA-caliber Audobon-certified public course, minutes from the Hotel. Like seafood? Every restaurant in town and within a short drive in both directions features seafood as well as other choices. Like chilling? That's what we do best!

Reminiscent of a Southern Coastal Plantation, this soothing queen bedroom surrounds you with lush magnolia and garden prints.

Rates: $ 97/87- depends on season*

Guest access

The Hotel is really an old 5-bedroom house, with wraparound porches on 2 levels, an open courtyard and covered cabana deck with wet bar and BBQ grill. Of course, the first floor rooms: Monkey Bar, living and dining room are available -- many guests like to set up the old laptop or tablet (or whatever you call it this week) on the dining room table in peace and quiet and nice south light.

Interaction with guests

Hopefully you will like the fact that we don't feel that we have to become your new "best friends". We are here to provide you a comfortable, relaxing squeaky-clean stay in a beautiful coastal environment. We are available if you need anything.

The neighborhood

Although we laughingly call our location "downtown", we are a block away from coastal Highway 98 which runs along the harbor. All shops in the downtown area are within a 2-block walk.

Getting around

We have good sidewalk coverage of nearby places, and the Hotel is right on the best health walk-along-the-harbor route in town. All parking is free, and the new city parking lot (lights on all night) is right across the street. And don't forget--no traffic lights within 27 miles!

All systems are 21st century, so your stay will be comfortable.
We discourage children under 12, because there are no special activity areas for them, and we are not child-proof.

This was a fine place for our overnight on the Florida coast.

We had the opportunity to visit Carrabelle, FL on my amazing surprise birthday trip. It is a small fishing town with a simple life feel. The Old Carrabelle Hotel was very clean and decorated well to set the scene for that off the map key west feel full of old southern charm. Skip and Kathy were helpful with basic info. by phone. I enjoyed the feel of the hotel and was thankful for a clean environment. We ate dinner at the Fisherman's Wife and it was delicious. We had our breakfast at Emsy's cafe. It was great!!! I would recommend these two restaurants for sure. We love the neighboring towns that aren't a very far drive, so Carrabelle is centrally located.

We had a delightful stay and couldn't have been more comfortable! The rooms are beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable. We enjoyed drinking our coffee each morning on the patio with the ocean breeze keeping us cool. We can't wait to get back! Thank you!

Poor Wendy booked one room, and was given 2 others! We do what we can, as our reservation requests come in, and hopefully in the future can provide the room asked for! ---book early--- :)

The Old Carrabelle hotel is a wonderful place! Situated in the nice, quiet and beautiful Carrabelle village, it is both ideal as starting point for trips to St George Island and Apilachicola and as a calm and nice retreat in itself with exquisite and nice furnitures and a nice ambience. Skip and Kathy are extremely nice hosts and very good guides to the Panhandle. Will definitely recommend this place to all our friends!

Skip and Kathy were really friendly and the Hemingway room was so comfortable down to the smallest detail. We enjoyed relaxing on the wrap around porch and the beach was nearby.

Check-in was so easy and the place is very laid back and charming. The breakfast voucher for the restaurant down the street was fabulous! I had some deliciously cheesy grits and and eggs included in the hotel reservation.

Innkeepers: one Realtor and one Remodeler.

We instituted and maintain the Key West style of the Hotel because we loved the old tropical "Wild West" ambience of the island, its architecture, landscaping and its casual atmosphere. And Carrabelle these days has much of that flavor, at a much lower price.

If you like casual and natural, this may be your favorite spot!
