The Old Carrabelle Hotel is a completely renovated historic home one block from scenic Carrabelle Harbor. Decorated in airy "Key West" style, it features over 120 feet of outdoor verandas with views, is within easy walking distance to all harbor activities and five minutes from the beach. Sea birds, dolphins and other wildlife add natural interest to this breathtakingly beautiful area. (Important note: the $67 rate shown is our lowest room rate without tax. Range is up to $107 plus tax)
The picturesque village of Carrabelle lies approximately one hour southwest of Tallahassee. Our completely renovated 120-year old home is near the center of this gentle coastal town, only a block from the harbor.
Start your day with a made-to-order restaurant breakfast at Carrabelle beach, then to eco-exploration of water and forest. Many outdoor activities abound: from sportfishing, sailing and island-hopping to soaking up abundant sunshine on our sugar-sand beaches or paddling along a quiet river, there is something memorable for all on the lovely Forgotten Coast.
Like golf? St. James Bay is a PGA-caliber Audobon-certified public course, minutes from the Hotel. Like seafood? Every restaurant in town and within a short drive in both directions features seafood as well as other choices. Like chilling? That's what we do best!
Reminiscent of a Southern Coastal Plantation, this soothing queen bedroom surrounds you with lush magnolia and garden prints.
Rates: $ 97/87- depends on season*
The Hotel is really an old 5-bedroom house, with wraparound porches on 2 levels, an open courtyard and covered cabana deck with wet bar and BBQ grill. Of course, the first floor rooms: Monkey Bar, living and dining room are available -- many guests like to set up the old laptop or tablet (or whatever you call it this week) on the dining room table in peace and quiet and nice south light.
Interaction with Guests
Hopefully you will like the fact that we don't feel that we have to become your new "best friends". We are here to provide you a comfortable, relaxing squeaky-clean stay in a beautiful coastal environment. We are available if you need anything.
Although we laughingly call our location "downtown", we are a block away from coastal Highway 98 which runs along the harbor. All shops in the downtown area are within a 2-block walk.
We have good sidewalk coverage of nearby places, and the Hotel is right on the best health walk-along-the-harbor route in town. All parking is free, and the new city parking lot (lights on all night) is right across the street. And don't forget--no traffic lights within 27 miles!
The Hotel is a circa 1900 building, built well but to old standards. No insulation, for instance, so we ask that all guests follow reasonable noise control practices.
All systems are 21st century, so your stay will be comfortable.
We discourage children under 12, because there are no special activity areas for them, and we are not child-proof.
A dog is welcome, but not his fleas, climbing on furniture or barking.
Check-in was so easy and the place is very laid back and charming. The breakfast voucher for the restaurant down the street was fabulous! I had some deliciously cheesy grits and and eggs included in the hotel reservation.
The Old Carrabelle Hotel is a beautifully restored, classic turn of the century (~1890 something) guest home. Nicely decorated, well maintained, environmentally controlled rooms made this stay comfortable and memorable. Kathy and Skip are well organized and prepared to manage their guests and keep everything in working order. Our room key was ready for us when we arrived along with area information and WiFi connection info. Our room was immaculately clean, all lights, faucets, and of course air conditioning, were in perfect working order. The tastefully decorated antique rooms made us feel we were living in 1890s Carrabelle with 21st century comforts. Carrabelle is a quiet fishing town with scenic Shrimp Trawlers docked at the wharfs 4-5 minutes walk from the home, a far cry from the touristy chaos in Panama City and West. They have an excellent business relationship with the “Two Als” restaurant, 5 minutes down the road (Hwy 98) where we were credited a generous value for our breakfast (more than we could eat).
We spent 2 nights in the Magnolia room at the end of September, on our trip to the USA, The house is over 100 years old and has been lovingly renovated, there is an excellent wrap around upstairs verandah to sit on .
Skip greeted us on arrival , explained about local restaurants, etc, breakfast is taken at a local restaurant, you are given a voucher to take and this arrangement works well
Carabelle is in a lovely quite location , ideal for exploring St Georges Island , Wakulla Springs,

Great little hotel. The Magnolia Room was nice and quiet with its own big bathroom. We had the misfortune of rainy weather for almost our entire trip, but Skip 'n Kathy were very gracious about it and even offered to discount us on our next visit to make up for the weather, which of course they didn't have to do. I would definitely recommend this place for a weekend beach trip, but be aware that the beach at St. George Island, which is the best beach in the area, is about a 30 minute drive from Carabelle. Carabelle has its own beach but it's much smaller and not quite as beautiful as St. George. Regardless, we had a great time at the Old Carabelle Hotel. We'll be back.

We instituted and maintain the Key West style of the Hotel because we loved the old tropical "Wild West" ambience of the island, its architecture, landscaping and its casual atmosphere. And Carrabelle these days has much of that flavor, at a much lower price.
If you like casual and natural, this may be your favorite spot!
