The Space

The Old Carrabelle Hotel is a completely renovated historic home one block from scenic Carrabelle Harbor. Decorated in airy "Key West" style, it features over 120 feet of outdoor verandas with views, is within easy walking distance to all harbor activities and five minutes from the beach. Sea birds, dolphins and other wildlife add natural interest to this breathtakingly beautiful area. (Important note: the $67 rate shown is our lowest room rate without tax. Range is up to $107 plus tax)

The picturesque village of Carrabelle lies approximately one hour southwest of Tallahassee. Our completely renovated 120-year old home is near the center of this gentle coastal town, only a block from the harbor.

Start your day with a made-to-order restaurant breakfast at Carrabelle beach, then to eco-exploration of water and forest. Many outdoor activities abound: from sportfishing, sailing and island-hopping to soaking up abundant sunshine on our sugar-sand beaches or paddling along a quiet river, there is something memorable for all on the lovely Forgotten Coast.

Like golf? St. James Bay is a PGA-caliber Audobon-certified public course, minutes from the Hotel. Like seafood? Every restaurant in town and within a short drive in both directions features seafood as well as other choices. Like chilling? That's what we do best!

Rich warm tones invite you to adventure travel with "Papa" to distant shores. African tribal masks peek through the jungle palms while a mosquito netting canopy accents the queen bed. In your private bi-level bathroom, an unearthed fireplace awaits.

Rates: $ 97/87- depends on season*

Guest Access

The Hotel is really an old 5-bedroom house, with wraparound porches on 2 levels, an open courtyard and covered cabana deck with wet bar and BBQ grill. Of course, the first floor rooms: Monkey Bar, living and dining room are available -- many guests like to set up the old laptop or tablet (or whatever you call it this week) on the dining room table in peace and quiet and nice south light.

Interaction with Guests

Hopefully you will like the fact that we don't feel that we have to become your new "best friends". We are here to provide you a comfortable, relaxing squeaky-clean stay in a beautiful coastal environment. We are available if you need anything.

The Neighborhood

Although we laughingly call our location "downtown", we are a block away from coastal Highway 98 which runs along the harbor. All shops in the downtown area are within a 2-block walk.

Getting around

We have good sidewalk coverage of nearby places, and the Hotel is right on the best health walk-along-the-harbor route in town. All parking is free, and the new city parking lot (lights on all night) is right across the street. And don't forget--no traffic lights within 27 miles!

  • Very charming and romantic bnb place. The place has been lovingly restored and has a perfect nostalgic feel to it. Skip is a very friendly host and makes sure you feel right at home. He was also very communicative, flexible and practical when we made a mistake in our booking at first. Top notch place all around!

  • After several nights in various chain hotels, how nice it was to be in a quaint old style Florida Inn. Although no one was around on arrival, check in was easily done via an envelope in the mailbox with all the information required to enter the Inn and locate our room. On departure, Skip tried to catch up to us at the restaurant to return an item we had forgotten. Too bad we missed one another. I would have liked to have met Skip given the humorous emails we subsequently exchanged.

    Response from Skip 'N Kathy:

A sense of humor helps navigate life! Speaking of which, the ITEM left behind has not been named here, because it was of a highly personal nature. It would fit into the palm of a hand and was manufactured to strict specifications. According to our guest, it was old and worn out, so did not need to be returned to them. Who knows, maybe someone else could make use of it?

    A reading glasses case.

Innkeepers: one Realtor and one Remodeler. We instituted and maintain the Key West style of the Hotel because we loved the old tropical "Wild West" ambience of the island, its architecture, landscaping and its casual atmosphere. And Carrabelle these days has much of that flavor, at a much lower price. If you like casual and natural, this may be your favorite spot!
