Bright and Cheerful City Base 1

House - Private room · Arbour Hill, Dublin, Dublin, Ireland

The Space

Private spacious double bedroom in house lived in by friendly pair & two chilled-out cats. The house is bright and cheerful and is located in the fun and vibrant Stoneybatter part of town.

By foot, the house is;

20 minutes away from Jervis Street (one of the main shopping areas)
22 minutes away from Temple bar
22 minutes away from O'Connell Street

It's also very easy to get to the city centre by bus or tram. There's a tram stop 5 minutes from the house and tram ride into the centre takes under 10 minutes.

The Stoneybatter/ Smithfield area itself boasts some great bars and restaurants including Walshes, the Dice Bar and the Cobblestone, Seven Social and Wuff. Other amenities such as Dublin Zoo, Phoenix Park, the Lighthouse Cinema, the National Museum, the Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Distillery and Heuston Station are also right on your doorstep. If you hover over the map here on my profile you'll see my customised guidebook. You can also get a printable version with your itinerary when you complete your booking.

I am always happy to share lots of local knowledge if you need any tips for things to do and places to eat or socialize. If you just feel like kicking back and relaxing, the bedroom has a sofa and wireless internet. Towels and bedlinen provided. Breakfast included in price. LGBT friendly household.

We have also listed our second guest bedroom on Airbnb. This is a single room so there may be one other guest present during your stay.

I love receiving bookings from guests with a full profile (photo and description) as it's very reassuring to know who is coming to stay. We sometimes have 1 guest come and stay in our second spare room - this means that the bathroom might be shared with 1 other person.

We have check-in set at 3pm but if you need to check-in sooner, please check with us to see if we can work this into our weekday schedule. Check-out is 11am.

I'm really looking forward to welcoming you to the city and I take a real pride in making sure that you have a wonderful time during your stay.

  • We had a great time in Dublin due to Gerard and his pleasant, absolute enjoyable charakter. Furthermore, he gave us grandiose tips for pubs, places to eat and to see etc. - we highly recommend to follow them, too :) Book his base, you do everything right!!

  • Gerard is really nice and helpful. The house is nice and clean and the two cats are so cute :) the location is great for getting around the city. Recommended to all!

  • Gerard and Richard are wonderful hosts. When we arrived, Gerard offered us a cup of tea and recommendations of sights to see and places to eat straightaway. Definitely check out Mulligan's! The room was comfortable and there is a lovely view of their garden to enjoy while eating the very nice breakfast they've provided. They are located in a lovely neighborhood very close to many of the sights and in the backyard of one of the outposts of the National Museum. All in all, a great experience.

  • We couldn't imagine a better place to stay for our three nights in Dublin! The room was comfy and spacious, and the house was in a great location––about a 20 minute walk to the city center, but with lots of great restaurants and businesses closer nearby. The breakfast spread in the morning was a wonderful touch. Gerard and Richard also gave us some fantastic recommendations for places to go in the neighborhood. Highly recommend to anyone.

  • Beni and I were very glad we chose Gerard and Richard to stay with! They were such lovely hosts and gave us such good information about Dublin! The house is easy to reach from the train und bus station and is a half an hour walk away from the city centre. Their two cats added to the nice and homely atmosphere! I would definitely recommend this place!

  • Gerard and Richard were very kind and helpful upon our arriving in the city, and provided us with a great starting point to begin our exploration of Dublin. Their home and cats are lovely. Bed and room is good size for two people comfortable with each other, and the shower is a nice, high pressure. House is located near a huge park, a light rail station, and the River Liffey. It took us about 20 minutes to walk to the city's center, though there's plenty to do and drink closer to the house. Make sure to pay attention to the map guide provided on this site - they've provided many good recommendations!

  • I really enjoyed my stay with Gerard and Richard. Their home was comfortable and clean, a home away from home. Gerard and Richard were very welcoming and friendly, as were the two gorgeous cats, Betty and Joan! The house is very conveniently located and there is good coffee to be found in Lillieputs on Arbour hill, a five minute walk away. I would highly recommend a stay with these lovely hosts.

  • We stayed at Gerard and Richard for a long weekend in February. They were both excellent hosts and catered for all our needs. The location was great, just a 15 minute walk from the city centre and a 5 minute walk to the park. Had a brilliant stay and would definitely recommend it

  • This was such a lovely experience and I highly recommend to stay with Richard and Gerry when visiting Dublin.
I felt welcome, the house was cosy and the cats added to a homely feeling. What more can you expect from an accommodation?
Moreover the house is situated in a nice neighborhood, however, close to the lively center and various nice things to explore.

  • Although we didn't get to meet Gerard (He arrived the day we left) it was a pleasure to be a guest in their home. Richard was there to help us with any question and made sure we felt completely comfortable. Richard went as far as to call for a taxi early in the morning when we left so that we wouldn't have to walk down to the street in the chance it decided to rain. The location was great, right down the street from bus stops to get into the city (which was minutes away.) The house itself was very clean, the larger bedroom was perfectly sized for two, and both the cats were adorable and friendly. We have absolutely no complaints and would love to visit Dublin again and we would definitely book a room with Gerard and Richard. :)
