London is an amazing place, you've got music, art, sightseeing, sports, theatres, restaurants - You've got it all!
BUT it can be overcrowded, loud and stressful.
If you want to see London but don't want to stay there overnight, and would rather stay in the beautiful British countryside (50 minutes by train to central London), then come and stay with us!
We are surrounded by green fields, we have a huge garden, a swimming pool, 2 mountain bikes which you can use, you'll love the area, there's plenty to do.
We serve fresh breakfast to all our guests with a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast, jam or bacon, eggs and baked beans.
The breakfast room can also be used during the day, we have tea and coffee available for free. You can use this room to relax and get warm by the aga.
The rooms at Rookery Hill Farm are a mix of classic and modern, they are clean, warm and cosy. all rooms have windows with green views and all rooms have free wireless internet connection.
We have two bathrooms, one for our guests and one for ourselves. So if the other guestrooms are taken, you will have to share a bathroom/toilet with the other guests.
The train station is less than 10 minutes away by car (we will pick you up and drop you off), from which you can get to London in 50 minutes or Brighton in 80 minutes. Gatwick Airport is only 20 minutes away by train or 30min by car. If you are coming by car we are 15 minutes away from the M25 and have plenty of parking space.
The Surrey Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers endless opportunities for walks and mountain biking, as well as visits to local pubs and restaurants and picturesque local villages.
The many attractions nearby include famous country house Polesdon Lacey, the Chessington World of Adventures, Denbies Wine Estate and RHS Wisley Gardens, and a little further away are Henry VIII's palace Hampton Court and Thorpe Park.
If you need any help planning your trips, maps or advice we will gladly help out, but if you want to be left alone, then that's fine as well. We don't intrude.
So if you want to visit London, on day trips, if you want to see Brighton, but would rather stay outside of the city and enjoy the beautiful english countryside then Rookery Hill Farm is the place for you.

Getting to and from the airport:
Gatwick airport: It's very easy to get to Dorking from Gatwick airport, you can get a direct train from Gatwick to Dorking Deepdene which is only 5 minutes from our house so I'll gladly pick you up from there. The journey will take 20 minutes. Alternatively you can get a taxi for about 40 pounds. If this doesn't suit your budget and you'd prefer that I pick you up and I have time, then I can pick you up for 25 pounds.
Heathrow airport: If you arrive at Heathrow airport, then you will need to go to one of the big London train stations, Waterloo or Victoria, you can get to either of these stations via tube, bus or train from Heathrow. Then from the train station you can get a direct 50 minute train to Dorking from where I can pick you up. Alternatively you can get a taxi to my house for about 60 pounds. If this doesn't suit your budget and you'd prefer that I pick you up and I have time, then I can pick you up for 35 pounds.
We live in an old house with old furniture. Please take good care of it, especially the antique furniture.
I would appreciate it if guests could take off their shoes in our house, as we have carpets that stain easily.
I don't smoke, so it would be great if you could smoke outside.
The door gets locked at midnight, if you want to stay out for longer then please arrange this with me.
If you need to use the washing machine, then just ask me.
Otherwise I'm very flexible and I hope that people treat my home like they would their own home.
Lukas is an excellent host, who has a wonderful home is an awesome rural location. The room was tasteful with great views and we were able to use the attic to sit, read and doze in on a drizzly afternoon! A terrific location with plenty of walks from the farm and numerous delightful villages nearby. We would love to have stayed longer.
we spend 2 marvelous days in this very quiet house with our 3 children, with Lukas always available if needed. This is a very convenient location if you want to visit the surrey and also if you want to enjoy London (50 mins only by train from london). We recommend this house without any doubt!
We had the perfect weekend at the farmhouse and lukas was the perfect host. Great breakfast, beautiful walks and a lovely cosy house. Thanks lukas!
I really enjoyed my stay in Lukas' home. The house was as described and to see traditional furniture in a proper setting and use it, was a lovely experience. The whole environment was delightful too and it would be a great place to stay and relax in the summer for walks, swimming etc. Lukas made me very welcome and looked after me providing a great choice of breakfast and tea and chat at other times. His directions to a well hidden property, which I had to find in the dark! were excellent. Highly recommended and would definitely ask to stay again when next in the area.
Thank you so much Lukas,
We had a lovely weekend. Such a peaceful spot. Lukas was very welcoming. Comfy beds and good breakfast.
We had a great 2 days in Dorking. Lovely house, very comfortalbe with everything we needed for a restful break. Lukas was very friendly and made a great breakfast. The kids loved the cat.
Everything about staying here has been amazing and I honestly couldn't have wished for better hosts, nicer, kinder or more helpful people! I have been made to feel completely at ease, at home and welcome and really don't have a bad word to say. The house itself is gorgeous, set in such a peaceful rural location, with everything you need just a short drive away. The room is beautiful, charming and clean with bathroom and shower facilities in the room just opposite. Lukas couldn't be friendly and is always smiling from ear to ear, is more than happy to help and cooks a delicious breakfast every morning. I have loved my time here and would recommend it to any one!

We live near Dorking in a small village called Westcott. My grandfather used to run the farm here but my father didn't take that up, we're not a working farm any more but we now keep a few chickens, pigs, ducks and geese in the summer.
Rookery Hill Farm, is a very quiet and peaceful place. As you can see on the map, we're surrounded by our own fields, woodland and lots of green. it's a really good place to relax.
At Rookery Hill Farm we have 3 Guest rooms available to book.
Come and visit us, we love having guests, it's great getting to know new people and different cultures.
The area is perfect for cycling and hiking, lots of lovely little towns in the middle of nowhere, but still just 50 min to London by train.
Just kick back relax and enjoy. Hope to see you soon. :)
