The Casas Da Vereda are ideally located in a quiet countryside area with nothing but nature between you and the ocean.
At 30 minutes drive from Funchal, 5 minutes drive to rock beaches in seaside villages / sand beaches by the marina of Calheta / “levada” walks.
Please note that one can rent any combination of Casa Palheiro (T0), Casa Rural (T1), and (Casa Eco T2)!

The Casa Da Vereda offers a total of 4 bedrooms dispatched across 3 houses for up to 8 guests with plenty of indoor and outdoor areas to get together, facing the Atlantic Ocean, while preserving intimacy.

The newly built energy efficient 2 bedrooms villa: Casa Eco, harmoniously integrates with the traditional dry stone constructions from the early 20th century: Casa Rural - 1 bedroom, and Casa Palheiro (small Barn) - studio. Both these houses were restored with a particular care in retaining each of their original outside features and building characteristics.

The Casas Da Vereda were designed to minimise their environmental impact and to be energy efficient.
The project also brought regional tradition and architectural innovation together in harmony, and without sacrificing quality. Here are some of the materials that were used:
• cork, a national and ecological product in parts of the façade and for thermal insulation
• basalt stone from the island in parts of the facade
• natural (lime-based) plasters and paints
• collecting rain water and storing Levada water for irrigation

Water is the central element at Casas Da Vereda in order to bring freshness, lush vegetation, tranquillity and relaxation.
The gardens were designed to provide privacy to each of the 3 houses' covered external areas.
The common herbs garden displays numerous essences and can also offer vegetables and fruits around the year!

The Casas Da Vereda are situated in Estreito da Calheta, specifically in the Vereda do Girão de Lá.
The term “Vereda” means footpath / a narrow path used only for walking.
Casas Da Vereda - The Footpath Houses.
In Madeira Island there are many paths of variable degrees of difficulty to be crossed by foot, some traversing steep and exposed slopes to reach rural homes / barns or patches / terraces of agricultural land.
In 2016 the footpath leading to Casas Da Vereda was doubled with a narrow agricultural road, which now provides car access to the property doors.

Please note that we are collecting a Tourist Tax of 2€ per night per person, and a maximum of 7 consecutive nights, from all our guests and on behalf of the local municipality of Calheta. The Tourist Tax total amount is quoted on this website for any given stay.

The Casas Da Vereda are situated in a rural area at the relatively low altitude of 200m, with regards to Madeira coastal topography, and at:
- 50m from supermarket
- 75m from snack bar
- 750m from arguably the best Tiki bar in the Northern Atlantic: "Pukiki Bar"
- 1 minutes drive from the express way to Funchal (30 minutes) and Airport (50 minutes)
- 5 minutes drive from beaches: Jardim do Mar & Paul do Mar stone beaches, and Calheta's yellow sand beach & marina
- 5 minutes drive to Prazeres village and its Sunday farmers' market, as well as to Calheta's supermarket by the marina
- 5 to 15 minutes drive from Levada (irrigation channels) and mountain walks.
Madeira is a small but very diverse island: pretty much any place can be accessed in less than one hour drive from Casas Da Vereda!
