Entire third-floor suite of two adjoining bedrooms and private full bathroom. Door on bathroom, but not between the bedrooms. Single bed is in front room; double bed in back room. Completely private, but with access to downstairs kitchen, living room, dining room and lovely outdoor deck overlooking back yard.

The space

Clean and comfortable house, colorfully decorated, with two adjoining bedrooms and private full bath available on your own separate floor.
Enjoy the use of delightful kitchen, living room and dining room. Relax on the back deck overlooking lovely lawn and gardens. Walk to historic downtown Concord and Old North Bridge, jog over to Minuteman Trail or go bird watching at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. Cross the street and wander along Author's Ridge in the famous Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where Emerson, Thoreau, Hawthorne and other Transcendentalists lie. Swim in nearby Walden Pond or walk along Thoreau's trail. Enjoy nearby quaint restaurants and shops a half mile from the house..
By car, it is about a half-hour's drive into Cambridge. The commuter rail is 1.3 miles from my house and will take you into Cambridge and Boston, with easy access to Logan Airport. Internet, cable and parking available. I am a generous and hospitable hostess and will be glad to make you a great cup of coffee in the morning or open a bottle of wine at sundown.

Guest access

Living room, dining room, kitchen, outdoor deck, laundry facilities in basement

Interaction with guests

Depending on the guest, I can be outgoing and interactive, or respect my guests' wishes for privacy!

Other things to note

For those of you who are allergic to felines, please note that there is a cat (Miley) who lives here. Although she doesn't go to the third floor, I have had a guest who had difficulty nonetheless. Since her behavior with strangers is sometimes skittish, I usually have her stay in the basement when guests are in the house.

Mike and Judith's place was beautiful and cozy. My friends and I only stayed one night, but would have loved to have more time to talk with both of our hosts. If I'm ever in Concord again, I would stay with these two. :)

Coming upon Judith's place after a long drive, it felt like an aunt was waving us into her driveway--she and her husband graciously stayed up to welcome us to their home, making certain to chat with us and let us know the lay of the land. This helped since we'd struggled to see their address from the busy road--they live on the main route. Despite the awkwardness of bumbling with baggage in the dark, it was a real relief to enter into such a homey vibe. Importantly for us, Judith immediately offered welcome as well to our kitty, who had by necessity become our surprise travel companion at the last minute. I figured I'd be checking on him in our vehicle overnight, but he got to join us upstairs--not under Ke$ha posters as another visitor noted, but under the watchful gaze of a Modigliani :). I guess the taste of the suite's former occupant--their daughter--had moved on! It's evident that the space belongs to a family member, yet there is room in a drawer or two for personal effects. The window-mounted a/c put out very strong air and quickly cooled the space. I found myself grateful for the blanket laid at the foot of the bed. Though it's a cozy area, sleep proved fitful--those who prefer a firm mattress will fare better, but both my boyfriend & I felt uncomfortable; halfway thru the night he opted to try the single bed in the room next door, where he later reported he had a slightly easier time. You can get the shower to any temp you wish, all the way up to scalding! I loved this but my guy figured it out the hard way--yowch! However, he happily made use of the new toothbrush Judith had thoughtfully supplied. Communication was excellent throughout our experience here. In the morning, Judith & her husband let us know they were out on a bike ride but that they'd left us watermelon in the kitchen, a lovely treat. She had put her own kitty Miley in the basement during our stay, but by the time we got the a-OK to let her out, we had packed up & locked up. Hopefully Ms. Miley wasn't too bummed! This was a quick stop for us, but Judith's hosting gave us the chance to explore the square, just a few minutes' drive away w/ lots of shops & restaurants; visit Thoreau's gravesite, literally right across the street; and dip our feet in Walden Pond. Her home provides everything one needs for an overnight in this historic town.

Staying with Judith in her cute home so close to downtown Concord was an absolute delight. We loved the walk back and forth as we were sightseeing and enjoyed talking to Judith. The accommodations were very nice-- Judith had the AC on in the third floor to get ready for our arrival so it was nice and cool when we showed up... a lovely surprise on a hot summer day!
