The Space

Here's the skinny!

Located in the fun and fashionable Plateau/Mile End district and close to everything you need to see, our ground level apartment is the perfect location for your next visit to Montreal!

With free street parking as well as paid parking available, only 3 minutes from the Metro (Laurier, orange line), a whole bunch of bus lines and two BIXI bike stations we are conveniently placed for you to explore The Plateau, Mile End and all the major sites of Montreal. If you are here for the Jazz Fest, F1 or any event on Parc Jean Drapeau (concerts, fireworks, La Ronde) it’s easy and quick by Metro from our apartment.

We encourage all of our guests to get outside and explore the city by foot and bike. Montreal has a well maintained bike path system. We will provide you with two BIXI bike passes (valid from mid April until November when the snow arrives) so you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air (helmets not provided nor required by law); after-all, the journey can be just as enjoyable as the destination. Who wants to be stuck in the sweaty people tube with no air conditioning when you could be outside?

By bike you can ride to downtown and the old port in just 20 minutes! The fantastic Jean Talon Markets/Little Italy in 10 minutes, our local pool in 5 minutes (free on weekdays) and Parc Mont Royal so you can walk up the mountain in only 10 minutes.

Don't worry - we all hate riding up hills! If you want to you can drop the bikes at any available station in Montreal and use the public transport or walk after you have dropped the bikes off (handy when you want to avoid drunk biking after a night of partying!).

Enough about bikes! Our guest room has a large double futon, a really nice comfortable bed (not one of those cheapo college slab versions) with a full set of linens, plenty of closet space, a desk and for the occasional sultry night a portable air conditioner and fan!

All of our guests are provided with bath towels and beach towels for Montreal's great public pools or if you are day-tripping into the countryside.

You will have full access to the bathroom, kitchen and our cute courtyard with a BBQ where you are welcome to grill up a storm. We have wi-fi for your enjoyment but please note that we don’t have a television or microwave.

All guests will receive complimentary bagels on the first morning which you can enjoy with our homemade jam and come summer time our vegetable patch should be churning plenty of goodies for salads or grilling.

We will also provide you with a really good map of Montreal and our own little information guide with plenty of restaurant and bar recommendations.

Finally - us! We are an Australian couple who have been living in this fantastic city for 6 years and we love people. We are respectful of your privacy but we are more than happy to share a few drinks or more! We love meeting people from around the world. If you are moving to Montreal don't worry; we are full of advice and have helped guests find apartments and used our contacts to introduce guests to recruitment agencies.

We don't sneakily charge an extra fee for two guests nor charge a cleaning fee. We only ask that guests clean up after themselves.

We hope you choose to stay with us and enjoy the best this city has to offer whilst staying in our humble guest room. We would love to meet you.

  • Tye and Gemma's place was perfect for my five-day stay. The room is large and the bed is comfortable. Best of all, Tye and Gemma are easygoing and friendly, even when I just wanted to hide out in the room. Their place is close to loads of cool spots, including the divine Dieu du Ciel! If you're a beer lover (or liker), don't miss it, but get there early. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it wholeheartedly to others.

  • Gemma and Tye are cheerful, generous, totally helpful hosts. Great fun to be with them! Their space is just right for our kind of visit--clean and comfortable and near to all that we wanted in the city. We'll want to return in future visits. Tops!

  • Perfect location, just two blocks away from Laurrier Subway station. Just 3 stops from the main subway station Berri-Uqam. Located in the hearth of the Mont-Royal culinary, we had the variety that we expected just around the corner. Gemma was very kind and gave us vital tips to hang around the city.

  • My travel parter and I had a wonderful five-day stay with Gemma and Tye. They're friendly, knowledgable about fun things to do around the city (and all its awesome bars), and willing to spend time and conversation with guests (if you so desire). The guest bedroom offers privacy and a seriously comfortable bed. We came in the dead of winter and can only imagine what their yard is like filled with color and life. Their place is located in a great spot--we comfortably walked everywhere, but it's also by a ton of transit if that's your thing. We'd stay with G&T again in a heartbeat and can't recommend them enough.

Hi! I am from Australia but I have lived in Montreal since 2007 with my partner Tye. I have a degree in Accounting and Business Law from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. I have traveled a lot but still have much to see! My most loved travel experience to date has been Egypt - what a country! I would go back there in a heartbeat. I love to read, cook, eat and play Netball. Also love Australian Rules Football - go Dockers!
