This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom mountaintop oasis located off Hwy 9 is 15 minutes from downtown Black Mountain and about 30 minutes from Asheville. The cabin is tucked up in the Blue Ridge Mountains offering a rustic, peaceful getaway that is still close to the scenic and lively surrounding areas.
The space
We love our outdoor space so we'll start there!
FRONT YARD
The large moss-adorned yard includes 4 wooden Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, a 22-inch Weber charcoal grill, bistro string lighting, and hooks to hang a hammock (one is provided!). It’s the perfect setting to enjoy a book on a sunny afternoon. The front yard also includes a dog tie-down. Some of our guests have been amazed by the wildlife and identified Swainson and Hooded Warblers nesting on the property. The fire pit is now able to be used for campfires just in time for the crisp fall weather!
FENCED-IN AREAS
On the back of the house is a small grassy fenced-in dog run. It includes a tie down stake with a cable that you may use in case your four-legged friend has long legs and a tendency to jump ;) Just beyond the dog run is an additional large wooded fenced-in area.
Please note that we do not actively maintain the fence for the wooded area and do not take responsibility if your dog makes a "great escape."
PRIMARY BEDROOM / BATHROOM
Includes a King bed with a mattress by Stearns & Foster powered by Tempur-Pedic. There is a dresser and a closet with hangers and suitcase stand for your use. This room has a mini-split air conditioning and heating unit, ceiling fan, table fan, and a screened window. The en-suite bathroom includes a European style “wet room” with a large walk-in shower and bathtub. A hair dryer, makeup remover towels, and toilet paper are provided along with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
SECOND BEDROOM / WORKSPACE
Includes a full size bed, twin trundle bed, a closet with hangers and suitcase stand. This room has a mini-split air conditioning and heating unit, a screened window, and a tower fan. This room also includes a workspace with a desk, monitor, HDMI cord, bluetooth mouse, mousepad, task light, and Herman Miller Aeron ergonomic office chair. There is also a foldable high chair and pack n play crib with sheets provided in the closet.
LIVING ROOM
Includes a comfortable seating for 5, a TV with Apple TV, DVD player with assorted DVDs, lots of books, puzzles, and games, and a dedicated space for setting up a dog crate if needed. There is a cozy electric fireplace which features heat options and ambient lighting. This room also includes a mini-split air conditioning and heating unit.
KITCHEN / BREAKFAST ROOM
The well-stocked kitchen should have everything you need to make meals with ease! This includes: electric range, full sized fridge/freezer with ice maker and filtered water, microwave, pots, pans, baking sheets, toaster, blender, food processor, wok, sharp knives, cutting boards, measuring cups/spoons, can opener, vegetable peeler, strainers, cooking utensils, and more. We also have a drip coffee maker, French Press, and a cold brew coffee maker. We keep a supply of coffee, tea, and sugar on hand for guest use. Emergency supplies such as a lantern and first aid kit are provided as well as dish and hand soap, scrub brush, dishwasher tabs, and paper towels. The breakfast room includes a table with plenty of seating.
SECOND BATHROOM/LAUNDRY ROOM
Just off the kitchen is the 2nd full bathroom with a walk-in shower, as well as a washer and dryer which you are welcome to use. This room also has some basic cleaning supplies, fragrance-free laundry detergent, iron and ironing board, and a few "dog towels" for wiping dirty paws or cleaning up spills - these are marked with an "X" on the tag.
BACK PATIO
The enclosed patio/sunroom is a perfect place to spend the morning or evenings. With seating for 4, you will love listening to the birds and frogs. You will find a couple of yard games stored here that you’re welcome to use (KanJam, Ladder Toss).
NEIGHBORHOOD
The first hill coming into the neighborhood is the steepest - make sure to keep your momentum so you don't lose traction while being mindful of bumps and ridges. It will be very bumpy gravel.
ENTERTAINMENT/WIFI
The home has been upgraded to HIGH SPEED internet as of 2024!!! Enjoy your favorite streaming services or Face Time or zoom calls for work. We've also provided a small collection of books, puzzles, DVDs, and board games for your use. Otherwise, just enjoy the tranquility of being "unplugged" in the mountains, do a puzzle, play cards, or pick up that book you've been meaning to read ;)
DOGS
We welcome your four-legged friends at the cabin. And for those not bringing their dogs, we guarantee the place will be cleaned so well you’ll never know they had been there!
For your dog we provide:
- an extra large crate (located on the back porch), but you’ll want to bring a dog bed.
- a food and water bowl
- doggie bags
- assorted dog toys
From your dog we require:
- pets must be added to your reservation and disclosed beforehand
- $75 flat pet fee (split amongst your overall nightly rate) for 1 dog under 100 lbs; a second dog may be permitted with prior approval.
- dogs must be house trained
- dogs must be up to date on all vaccines and flea/tick treatments
- dogs must be crated when you leave the house for any period of time and your dogs stay behind
- dogs are not permitted on any furniture or beds
Unfortunately we do not allow cats.
Guest access
You'll have access to the entire property aside from a few owner's closets.
Other things to note
DOGS:
- You must disclose how many dogs are coming in the Airbnb booking request. We have a strict 2 dog maximum policy.
- All dogs must be house-trained and crated if left in the home while you are away from the home. Please message us with the size and breed of your dog before booking as some restrictions apply.
DOG SAFETY:
If you’re bringing a dog with you and want to walk them in the neighborhood, please be aware that many full time residents allow their dogs to roam free. You may encounter them on your walk, and some are friendlier than others. We have had the best luck walking our dog up the main road rather than down it, and it never hurts to carry a wooden stick or the hiking pole provided at the cabin.
COMFORT:
The home has recently been equipped with a brand new Carrier brand mini-split air conditioning and heating system! This highly efficient system is designed to stay on at all times (rather than cycling on and off like a ducted HVAC system). You can use the remote controls to adjust the temperature to whatever is most comfortable to you. We also provide a portable dehumidifier which you are welcome to run as needed. It will automatically shut off when the tank is full - you just have to pop the tank out and empty it in the sink whenever it fills up.
