About This Listing
Great little apartment with lovely views of the mountains and situated in a nice, village-like neighborhood with plenty of dining and bar options. Also very conveniently located 1 block away from the main metro line in town.
The apartment has one of the best views in town -- an unblemished view of the San Cristobal hill with the virgin statue, the Mapocho River and the Andes to the northeast.
More importantly, it's in a really safe neighborhood yet vibrant with lots of bars and restaurants, unlike many of the top listings in Airbnb that are in dingy and unlit areas of downtown.
The Manuel Montt area of Providencia is an elegant neighborhood with old fashioned shops from the 1960s and 1970s and is safe at all times of day. The immediate area has become a fashionable to dine without getting the noise and crowds associated with Bellavista. Within a few blocks you can eat Irish, Catalan, Belgian, Spanish, Japanese and French cuisine! We have an Irish Bar two blocks away, the fashionable Liguria Bar two blocks away, two theaters on the same block, metro station a block away, 24-hour all nighter stores, a gym and a riverside park fashionable with joggers. And yet it's quiet at night!
The building was completed in 2010 and the one-ambience living room + kitchen have been decorated in a modern style. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes herbs and spices so you can cook without having to buy everything. We have the lovely Providencia food market a few blocks away. The bedroom comes with an ample supply of bedclothes and towels should you be planning a longer stay. The flat is ideal for a couple with dining area for two.
When you get here the wine rack is full and there even a couple of whites in the fridge. You just pay for what you use and at it's priced at reasonable rates.

Interaction with Guests
I will most likely leave you the key with our 24-hour receptionists during office hours as I have a day-job! Also I will do that for late night arrivals, I will leave the key with our 24-hour receptionists. While the receptionists can help with basic local information if you speak a little Spanish, I am always just a phone call or email away if you need anything!
The neighborhood has everything at hand. Old shops, metro station, buses, great little bars and restaurants (I have Irish, Thai, Catalan, Uruguayan, Belgian, Chilean, French all within two blocks!!). We even had a theater a block away, and ice cream parlor from the 1950s. You can walk to two top restaurants -- Astrid y Gaston and Aqui Esta Coco, and also to the very popular Liguria tapas bar just a block away. What more can I say?
Yes, metro serving the main line a block. Lots of buses. Metro will get you downtown in 10 minutes. And to the uptown financial district, also in 10 minutes.
Other Things to Note
A note on safety. Santiago in general is a very safe city, and violent crime is not common. You do have to be alert with pickpockets in busy areas. Many Airbnb apartments are located in the downtown area -- while this is an area that has improved a lot in recent years -- many streets in the area are still dimly lit and some are a bit edgy at night. My neighborhood located in Providencia is very safe -- we have slightly better lighting and because of its popular bars and restaurants there are people milling around at all times, which increases the sense of safety. Santiago, and indeed most South American cities, tend to be noisier than North America and Europe. Luckily the apartment block is located on a quiet street, but you will often hear late night revelers -- I think my best advice is just go with the flow -- when in Rome!!
Please use Airbnb for all initial correspondence. I advertise the apartment as a non-smoking apartment, but I don't really have a problem smoking on the balcony as long you close the doors. All food stored in the cupboards, and things like tea and coffee can be used freely.
The experience was really great! Matthew helped us in everything we needed. The location was great, with a good access to the metro and a lot of facilities nearby!
Matthew's apartment looks just like the photos! Everything was neat and clean waiting for me. Really enjoy the google maps he did with directions for all the useful venues around! Will surely return. Highly recommended.
We both had a lovely time in Matthew's apartment. I chose carefully and already knew the area was v nice and safe, with the metro 2-3 mins walk away and many restaurants, bars and local conveniences within a stones throw. A bit less bustly than centro and more upmarket and the apartment is v quiet being on a higher floor and overlooking a quiet street. Takes just 5-10 mins by metro into the centro with many of the tourist attractions and is direct.
The apartment is modern, cosy and has everything you need for a short or medium stay in Santiago. Nice to have a cooker where you can instantly adjust the heat setting, just in case you like to cook. Also, a plus to have a AC in the apartment as many rentals in Santiago don't have. The apartment is stylish, functional and comfortable.
Lovely view of San Cristobel and also some nice views to the Andes.
Matthew was polite, and punctual with all his communications always showing concern and wishing to make our stay an enjoyable one.
One look at the calendar will show this is a popular apartment and clearly Matthew is onto a winner here. The pricing is v reasonable too.
I would definitely recommend it.
I stayed 4 nights with by boyfriend in Mathews' apartment. The apartment is very well located, close to the metro station and also to a supermarket and other usefull things. The place is spacious and clean and has a great balcony! I highly recommend it. Thank you Matthew !

Top Chilean chefs restaurant specializing in fish and shellfish. Coco is referential when it comes to Chilean seafood. Expensive like Astrid y Gaston. Decor is modern with maritime memorabilia.La Concepción Santiago Santiago Metropolitan Region
The gringo pub in Santiago. If you are alone and feel the urge to speak English its hard not to get into conversation in this place. Good bar grub and beer.Santiago Metropolitan Region
