Great little apartment with lovely views of the mountains and situated in a nice, village-like neighborhood with plenty of dining and bar options. Also very conveniently located 1 block away from the main metro line in town.
The apartment has one of the best views in town -- an unblemished view of the San Cristobal hill with the virgin statue, the Mapocho River and the Andes to the northeast.
More importantly, it's in a really safe neighborhood yet vibrant with lots of bars and restaurants, unlike many of the top listings in Airbnb that are in dingy and unlit areas of downtown.
The Manuel Montt area of Providencia is an elegant neighborhood with old fashioned shops from the 1960s and 1970s and is safe at all times of day. The immediate area has become a fashionable to dine without getting the noise and crowds associated with Bellavista. Within a few blocks you can eat Irish, Catalan, Belgian, Spanish, Japanese and French cuisine! We have an Irish Bar two blocks away, the fashionable Liguria Bar two blocks away, two theaters on the same block, metro station a block away, 24-hour all nighter stores, a gym and a riverside park fashionable with joggers. And yet it's quiet at night!
The building was completed in 2010 and the one-ambience living room + kitchen have been decorated in a modern style. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes herbs and spices so you can cook without having to buy everything. We have the lovely Providencia food market a few blocks away. The bedroom comes with an ample supply of bedclothes and towels should you be planning a longer stay. The flat is ideal for a couple with dining area for two.
When you get here the wine rack is full and there even a couple of whites in the fridge. You just pay for what you use and at it's priced at reasonable rates.

Interaction with Guests
I will most likely leave you the key with our 24-hour receptionists during office hours as I have a day-job! Also I will do that for late night arrivals, I will leave the key with our 24-hour receptionists. While the receptionists can help with basic local information if you speak a little Spanish, I am always just a phone call or email away if you need anything!
The neighborhood has everything at hand. Old shops, metro station, buses, great little bars and restaurants (I have Irish, Thai, Catalan, Uruguayan, Belgian, Chilean, French all within two blocks!!). We even had a theater a block away, and ice cream parlor from the 1950s. You can walk to two top restaurants -- Astrid y Gaston and Aqui Esta Coco, and also to the very popular Liguria tapas bar just a block away. What more can I say?
Yes, metro serving the main line a block. Lots of buses. Metro will get you downtown in 10 minutes. And to the uptown financial district, also in 10 minutes.
Other Things to Note
A note on safety. Santiago in general is a very safe city, and violent crime is not common. You do have to be alert with pickpockets in busy areas. Many Airbnb apartments are located in the downtown area -- while this is an area that has improved a lot in recent years -- many streets in the area are still dimly lit and some are a bit edgy at night. My neighborhood located in Providencia is very safe -- we have slightly better lighting and because of its popular bars and restaurants there are people milling around at all times, which increases the sense of safety. Santiago, and indeed most South American cities, tend to be noisier than North America and Europe. Luckily the apartment block is located on a quiet street, but you will often hear late night revelers -- I think my best advice is just go with the flow -- when in Rome!!
Please use Airbnb for all initial correspondence. I advertise the apartment as a non-smoking apartment, but I don't really have a problem smoking on the balcony as long you close the doors. All food stored in the cupboards, and things like tea and coffee can be used freely.
I stayed there two weeks. The apartment is in a very good neighbourhood and very close to a metro station. Although I have not seen him in person, Matthew was always very helpfull and gave me very good advice. Highly recommendable!
Excelente todo. El lugar super bien arreglado, cómodo y limpio. Bien pensado en una ubicación muy buen!
Matthew is an excellent host. Always worried about how to make your stay pleasant. If you have any questions he will answer it right away. I strongly recommend Matthew for your next trip. You won't regret it!
Great location (2 blocks from metro in Providencia). Listing was accurate and the kitchen well stocked. Matthew was responsive with questions that came up during our stay.
Our stay in Matthew's apartment was very enjoyable. It was an ideal location for us. It was away from the busy Centro area. The area the apartment was in, provided everything we needed-supermarket, banks, restaurants. The metro was nearby so accessing things to see and do in Santiago was easy. We never met Matthew, but communication with him was quick and efficient. When we arrived at the apartment, security was expecting us. The apartment is exactly as described and met all our needs. We enjoyed using the rooftop pool. We would definitely stay here again. Julene and Brian Madill
My husband and I had a 2-day layover in Santiago on our way down to Patagonia. We stayed at Matthew's apartment for 2 nights and it was the best experience! First of all, Matthew was very accommodating as we needed to check-in pretty early as we were flying in on a red-eye flight. He allowed us to check in as soon as we landed! The apartment was just a few blocks from the Metro which we used to tour all over Santiago, it was a VERY convenient location. The apartment itself was beautiful, clean, quiet. There was even an electrical converter which was great because we forgot ours! Matthew had a whole stack of Santiago guide books which we used to explore the city. Most of all, Matthew was extremely helpful in setting up a taxi to come pick us up at 4am for the airport on the departure day. We couldn't get through to the service and so he arranged everything for us. Matthew was very quick to respond to any question that we had. I highly recommend staying in this beautiful apartment. You are in great hands with Matthew as your host! Thank you Matthew!
El departamento es muy bonito y prolijo. Bien ubicado en un barrio apacible, accesible por medio de transporte público con áreas comerciales cercanas y con una hermosa vista desde un balcón amplio.
