There are indeed a lot of rules if you don't like reading. But you don't have to work hard to follow the rules if u r generally a clean person. Helen is very nice and considerate, she offered water, fruits and towels. It's within 5 min walk to subway, there are plenty shops and restaurants around. I needed up only staying one day and night there tho I paid for 3 nights but I felt lucky cuz its so loud in the bedroom from the traffic, you will have a hard time if you are a light sleeper, I am not but I still had bad time when I was trying to watch movies in my room it's just too loud, I'd rather sleep in the living room too. Maybe there's a way to make it quiet that I wasn't aware of.

FAMILY EMERGENCY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY OUTSIDE THE US: I have to leave the country on a family emergency. My first cousin is terminally ill with cancer. Family needs my help and supplies from the US which I'm taking with me. I'm not sure of the date of my return. Even though guest has booked for a month from now, I don't want to put her in a difficult position closer to the time, so have to make a cancellation because of this unforeseen emergency. I hope you can be of assistance to her. Thank You.
I stayed at Helen's apartment around Christmas and New Year and had a great stay! The apartment is exactly as described and very conveniently located near grocery stores, the subway and malls! ( perfect for a shopaholic like me especially during the festive holiday season!) The room is cozy and the bed-super comfortable! Helen even had a delicious tray of cookies and fruits put on the table in the room! It can get a bit noisy because of the traffic on the bridge especially at night, but that was relaxing and more like home for me!! so I didn't really mind it! Helen is a perfect host, extremely warm, friendly and helpful. She even had a map of the entire neighborhood ready for me on the first day with lots of useful suggestions and advice about how to get around . It was easy to communicate with her and she was highly accommodating and responsive to all my queries and requirements. She is extremely particular about cleanliness as a result of which the apartment is spotless ( especially the bathroom!) I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting New York!
It is a convenient place for short term stay, close to subway station. The room is close to the high way, so it takes time to get used to the traffic noise overnight.
For long term stays, the hostess would ask you to share weekly cleaning work and monthly fees like internet and cleaning supplies. The hostess has very strict and detailed rules on how to clean the bathroom and living room. I could not adapt to the rules so ended up paying her $25 weekly for cleaning instead.
Isaac was a very unusual guest, he didn't seem to have ANY experience at all with any household chores (other than taking out trash). He knew in advance that long term stays had a requirement for sharing in chores. He agreed to this and was pleasant enough to try with my taking the time to help and show him. Sadly, he's the first person of his age I've ever encountered unable to hold a broom properly to sweep a floor (literally) - a stunning situation. Understandbly from an environment / culture where he'd never had to do any of this. This would STILL not be a problem for me however, had he handled his limitations maturely enough to be accountable without a grudge. Seemingly for this particular guest basic cleanliness is "strict rules" and a problematic situation when the host requires the place to remain as clean as he found (and like) it. Men and women who have stayed here long term (since short term doesn't require sharing chores) before have never had ANY problem with the very basic sharing of chores required (which takes all of 20 minutes a week for anyone who's actually cleaned before). He'd be ok for a short term stay in situation where he had no responsibility with household chores
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
