The Space

You are looking at Trudy's room, which is small and sweet and has lovely afternoon light. It has its own bathroom, an excellent mattress on a double bed, a desk and a chair.

Guest Access

Guests can use the gardens, back deck and the pleasant ground floor living room anytime, as well as the kitchen in the morning or if we're not using it.

We ask that you respect our family's daily routines when using the space on the second floor: the kitchen at dinner time, the dining room and the back room. Feel free to make yourself at home if no one else is using the those areas.

The third floor is private.

Interaction with Guests

Tom and I love sharing our home with guests from around the world. Travelers ourselves and hosts to exchange students and SERVAS travelers for years before discovering Airbnb, there's nothing we enjoy more (email hidden)ly conversation at the dining room table, on the deck, or by the fire.

The Neighborhood

We're 7 miles from the beach and an hour from Hearst Castle. Great wineries close by in Edna Valley, Paso Robles and Arroyo Grande. San Luis has amazingly good weather year (email hidden)ly downtown, many excellent restaurants, wonderful music and arts, and the best chocolate around.

Getting around

A bus stop two blocks away, about a mile from the Amtrak station. Street parking for one car, easy freeway access. Lovely walking neighborhood.

Other Things to Note

Tom and I are members of SLOHosts, the group who worked together to keep short-term rentals available here in San Luis Obispo last fall. We voluntarily pay a 10% TOT (room tax) to the city (in addition to state and federal income taxes).

  • Eve and Tom's house is a beautiful, colourful, nature- and nurture-filled haven in a vibrant community. We spent a delightful evening with a glass of wine on the back patio, getting to know our hosts, their friends and some other Airbnb guests - otherwise known as our new friends. We discovered a slew of coincidences in geography and experience that drew us all closer together. The atmosphere was delightful and I'm happy to say we had our favourite evening of all our Airbnb experiences at this lovely home.
The room and bed were perfect - spacious, comfortable, with a private bathroom and beautiful finishing touches, including fresh flowers and chocolate from Eve and Tom's local artisan chocolate company. We enjoyed a cup of coffee on the same back patio in the morning, overlooking a unique backyard pond system built by Tom. I highly recommend staying with Eve and Tom, their warmth and hospitality are sure to make you feel welcome!

  • We had a lovely stay in Eve's home. The room was comfy and nicely set up for us when we arrived, there were even little chocolates on the pillows! :) The home is very welcoming, everything is exactly like in the pictures and the neighborhood is nice and quiet, while still a short distance from downtown. We really appreciated our hosts recommendations for dinning and things to do as we were very hungry when we arrived. We only stayed the night since we were just passing by on our way to San Diego but would definitely stay here again. Thanks Eve! :)

  • We had the pleasure of staying with Eve and Tom for just one night. It was exactly what we needed - our hosts were friendly and provided advice on where to eat, but not intrusive; the bed was comfy and the shower was hot. There were added little niceties too - chocolates on the pillows and toiletries in the bathroom. We would recommend this to anyone and will now recommend SLO too. It was a charming town. Thanks for having us!

  • My husband and I had a delightful stay at Eve's home. She was a most gracious and accommodating host. We felt very welcomed by the invitation to use most of the common areas in the home and the little extras she provided for our enjoyment were a lovely touch. There were chocolates on the pillows, a tray with a few snacks in the room and refrigerator space available for our use. She made a point of introducing her different guests to one another and we enjoyed getting acquainted and swapping stories.

  • We had a wonderful night in Trudy's room. It was comfortable and cozy, and Eve made us feel right at home. Her home is so beautiful and interesting! It was exactly as listed (nicer, actually!), very clean, and she left us snacks and maps! Eve had great recommendations on places to go for dessert in SLO, and we loved meeting their sweet dog. You can tell that Eve loves having guests. When we came back after dinner, someone was upstairs playing the piano! It was so nice! We look forward to coming back next time we're in town!

  • Our stay with Eve & Tom in their interesting and beautiful home was a great place to be just outside the busyness of downtown San Luis Obispo. The bedroom had great natural light and the bathroom was spacious. Eve and Tom were warm, friendly hosts who made their space very welcoming and accommodating and were great references for places to see and where to eat :)
