The Space

Built in 2010, this home was built to replace a family home that was destroyed by hurricane Ike in 2008. This colorful house was designed for entertaining and offers guests some of the best amenities in the area.

With 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms and 2 oversized couches, you are able to sleep a total of 9 people comfortably. The living room provides a wall of windows that offers an unobstructed view of the beach and Gulf of Mexico. The kitchen offers upgraded stainless steel appliances, a center island which is great for prepping food and silestone countertops which make cleaning up easy.

With 3 different decks and a built-in picnic table and bar below the house, you are able to enjoy the outdoors no matter the weather conditions. There are two hammocks which are prefect for enjoying a margarita, taking an afternoon siesta or watching the sunset. The house has been wired with interior and exterior speakers so guests are able to listen to the satellite TV music channels, TV stations, CD’s, radio and their Ipod.

Whether you’re looking to rent this house for a week, weekend or a holiday, we’re confident you will enjoy your experience at the Tropicana Beach House. Check in is 4pm and check out is at 10am.

  • This place is great - inside & out! We spent probably more time on the decks thn we did inside. They were wonderful for relaxing. Next year I want to come back!

  • We never got to meet David in person, but he was very prompt in responding to my messages. The listing was as described in the photos, check-in was pretty smooth. The only thing that was difficult for me was logging into the internet with my iPhone 5s, it took me over 50 log-in retries because I kept getting the message 'the password is incorrect' which wasn't the case because my friends and family were already logged in. The neighborhood was very quiet, I think we arrived at a great time (before memorial day) during the pre-high season. One thing I would recommend would be to purchase TP & groceries from Galveston or bring it from home. There is a grocery store close by, but the selection is limited and over priced because we were on a peninsula after all.

    Response from David:

I'm sorry that I can't meet you upon check-in, but I live in Austin and it is not possible for me to do so. I have rented houses before and never met the owner in person and it was a very smooth process. It is very difficult for an owner to met everyone that rents a house, especially one that is rented very often in the summer.
In the house rules, I ask that people replace items like toilet paper and paper towels. I'm sorry that you ran out and did not know to bring any or purchase any at the big store at the beach. I'm also sorry that you thought you had to clean the house. I charge a cleaning fee and have someone come and clean the house after every guest. I feel really bad that you cleaned the house. I only ask that people wash the linens so that the cleaning lady can get in and out quicker.
Thank you for renting my cabin and I hope that you had a good experience.

  • We just returned from our trip to Crystal Beach. It was the best. The house was exactly as described. We had the best time. It was very relaxing and the beach was fabulous! We all were sad to see it end. David is the best, when we needed to contact him, he was there for us, very gracious. We are planning our next trip to go there. We loved it!

  • The beach house was amazing!! Well equipped kitchen and good sized living. The house has a great master bedroom with bathroom. The other 2 rooms are not very big but sufficient. Unfortunately the weather was not good enough to sit outside but the balcony has a great view over the gulf. We loved the album covers on the walls of Jimmy Buffet.

  • This has to be one of the most charming homes I've ever had the privilege of staying in. It was clean, and you have everything you would need their in the home. David was a gracious host and a great communicator during my short stay. The home's location is ideal for beach access. And if you like to relax, then you would love sitting on what I called the "Moon Deck" above the home, and enjoying breathtaking views of the gulf or the stars on a clear night! The neighbors are polite, and the area is peaceful. The entertainment system that comes with the home was perfect for me and friends to watch the playoff games while we grilled and drank brews. It was honestly the best beach weekend you can have in January, and David's home made it all possible! I will definitely stay here again upon returning to Crystal Beach in the future. You should too!

  • A couple college buddies and I wanted to spend a few laid-back days near the beach, and David's house was perfect. His new-ish, open-floorplan house is extremely comfortable, and had a ton of room for the three of us. The colors are coastal festive, and the main windows give a direct view to the beach -- This really set the mood as we first walked in and opened the shades. The main living space has two extremely comfortable couches, and a large rustic table that is great for hanging around. The weather kept us from using the decks/patios, but they looked very comfortable, too.

David was friendly, helpful, and responsive to my messages. I'm happy to have done business with him and would recommend his house to others.

  • We vacationed in crystal beach 3 months ago and got a 4th row rental for the same price as this one. The view was phenomenal, the kitchen was fully stocked for a good breakfast lunch and dinner. This beach house just felt like home and your not too far from the grocery store. Best bang for your buck on crystal beach by far. I think next time we will make a longer stay for sure.
