"A lovely cosy atmosphere, a real den to escape to."
A gorgeous modern self contained apartment within our Victorian house with its own entrance and cute back garden. The apartment is extremely well located for many tourist areas of London and the local daily markets and shops, including a great 24/7 grocery/deli just 2 minutes away.
The apartment is within an 1870's house, but has a modern very characterful design, making full use of the space. You enter through the side gate, walk through the garden across the decking and into the apartment though the double doors. It's has a lovely cosy atmosphere and is a real den to escape to.
The first space you come to is the lounge with lots of very comfortable large bean bags and cushions. The small kitchen area is off to one side and includes all the regular kitchen appliances including a microwave, dishwasher and two ring hob. Through the arch (which has a sliding door) is the large double bedroom with ensuite shower/wet room with lots of mirrors. There is a very comfortable Kaymed king size bed with lovely white Egyptian cotton bedlinen. We supply plenty of fluffy white towels.
The room rate advertised applies to 2 people sharing the kingsize bed. If required, an additional bed for a charge of £25 per night could be provided in the lounge area. It's a very good double Jay-Be Royal Pocket Comfort Folding Guest Bed. Please email me for more details to see what works best for you. (If you would like the extra bed, please do not use the Instant Book feature, thanks.)
Generally there is a minimum booking of 4 nights, however, depending on availability, the time of the year and week shorter stays might be considered. Please drop me an email.
High speed WiFi
Music system to link your laptop or iPod to (includes speakers in each room including the shower room)
Large LCD TV with Freeview
There is a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Oyster travel cards (the simplest way to get around, on loan for your stay, just top them up please).
Parking permits are available for £5 per day
Free UK mobile for your use for the duration of your stay
Washing machine and dryer
Complementary chilled wine and beer in the fridge and croissants, coffee, tea, cereals, OJ and a bowl of fruit for breakfast.
I have a cute, well behaved, friendly little dog called Jarvis (he's a Border Terrier), but he'll only come and say hello if you like dogs, otherwise he stays in his house just upstairs from the apartment.
ON HAND TO HELP
I am happy to be available as and when guests would like. Some guests like to be independent but I am happy to share a glass of wine and I am usually on hand to help with anything, from recommending local restaurants to helping plan trips in the city.
OVERVIEW OF THE AREA
The area is a real London neighbourhood. We live on a cute Victorian terrace street. It's a very friendly street, where most people know each other and has an active residents association.
There are tennis courts, a recently renovated (£8m) park and a gym nearby plus a vibrant local market, restaurants and many very handy shops just round the corner.
As well as Kennington and Elephant & Castle Underground tube stations, the apartment is very well served for buses to almost anywhere in London. They're a great way to get around and see things on the way, especially the fabulous views over the river.

Mike’s apartment is ideal for tourists who are going to explore the city. 2 minutes from bus stop, 2 minutes from several supermarkets (including the shop which is open 24h). There are 2 oyster cards in the apartment, 2 umbrellas, a map of London, cell-phone with local sim-card and plenty of different guides for London.
Mike is very hospitable and aims to provide everything to make your stay comfortable. When we arrived there were wine and beer in the fridge, butter, croissants, different jams and sauces, cereals, milk, fruit etc. We felt really at home! The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped. We didn’t need anything during our stay because Mike already considered every single thing you might need. Thank you Mike! And hope to see you again.
Mike was a really nice host, polite & gentle and left us to our own most of the time, yet appearing the moment we needed him.
The oyster cards, hp etc left for our use was absolutely useful, and the folder of information was really detailed. He is such a meticulous person / host, we met his dog briefly and it is very cute.
The bed was very comfy & apartment very interestingly decorated with its own edginess. Perhaps the fact that Mike's a photographer? The apartment was smaller than I had imagined (from pix) but definitely big enough for 2. The heating on the toilet floor was very cool. It was fully stocked as well, with cereals, fruits and drinks.
I must say we did feel the neighbourhood might be a little unsafe for 2 girls to be walking in the night, but it helps that his place is brightly lit and near the main road and directly on fielding street.
Thanks Mike for hosting us!! And letting us store our luggage till late as our flight out is pretty late in the night.
Mike's basement apartment was everything we needed to enjoy our stay in London. We have stayed with airbnb in 11 different apartments and Mike's was the cleanest of all. For us that is very important. Also the neighborhood had the best little Italian restaurant and Irish pub (we were there for st. paddy's day) about 2 minutes away. Just close enough to stumble home :-)) after italian food and irish beer. Mike was a great host and always available by phone (which he provided) when we needed him, which was not very often because he covers almost everything is his manual. Thanks MIke.
We stayed in Mike's apartment for five nights and it was absolutely amazing. There is not a single detail that goes unnoticed by Mile in his decoration of the apartment. He also left maps, Oyster cards (for travel around London via buses and trains), a UK mobile, beers and breakfast ready to go when you arrive and the most comprehensive guide manual I have ever read written by Mike. Perfect in every way. I will be staying in Mike's apartment every time I come to London. Sensational.
Mike's apartment is lovely and perfect for a couple. The bed is very comfy, the kitchenette is fully equipped, and the wet room is cool and user-friendly. We found fresh fruit, and some milk, juice and wine in the fridge, as well as London maps and Oyster Cards at our arrival. A 2-mins walk takes you to Walworth Rd (full of shops and bus stops), and a 10-mins walk takes you to Kennington tube station. Mike is a terrific host, very kind and helpful. I would definitely go back when in London.
I had a very warm welcome by Mike and Jarvis on my arrival at the apartment. The apartment is spacious and immaculately clean and on arrival there were a selection of lovely drinks, fresh fruit and breakfast cereals . I would image this apartment would be ideal for a couple getting away to spend time in the city and using public transport to get everywhere. Mike kindly recommended the 'Citi' app for my iPhone which again was most helpful. all in all a well equipped flat which is fit for purpose.
Mike is absolutely adorable. We really felt in a cocoon when we stayed. The flat is well equipped and the fridge was full of drinks and food to welcome us! Every time we needed something, Mike was here to help! And we now are friends on (website hidden)! Thank you again Mike!
On a whole i found Mike to be a superb host and the accommodation to be clean, warm & fun
The basement apartment is located on a lovely traditional terraced street. It is in a real down to earth London area. The local neighbourhood has a lot of character and shops from all over the world. The locals were friendly as was the host Mike who was really helpful.
The apartment itself is stylish, well laid out making good use of the space, lots of beanbags and chairs and has a nice relaxed vibe with a funky wet room full of mirrors.
The location is EXCELLENT! Kennington and Elephant & Castle tube stations are nearby but I generally used buses. These are available to pick up a few minutes walk away on Walworth Road and offer multiple route options including Night Buses around London (about 8 different routes I think). Several offer the quick journey to the South Bank/Waterloo and West End.
I would highly recommend!
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
