We miss Arnaldo, his wife, and his home already! We weren't treated like guests, but treated like family. We've stayed at a few nice AirBnBs, but this is by far the best experience! This is a long review because the experience was that amazing.
We woke up to BEAUTIFUL views of Romola outside our bedroom window, only to have the most delicious and thoughtful breakfast awaiting downstairs. They really know how to make guests feel special. Our clean room with a terrace was in a separate area of the house with our own bathroom. Olive, peach, and pomegranate trees along the entrance path with views of the endless Tuscan hills with cypress trees. Absolutely breathtaking.
When we first arrived by bus from Florence, we accidentally missed our stop. We were further down the street, and asked a few people for directions. Much of the townspeople do not speak English, but they tried to be helpful, and we were fortunate enough to have a gentleman drive us to our town! We then asked a few gentleman at a local bar which direction our address was, and immediately they exclaimed, "Arnaldo! Of course, down the street!" The people are very friendly, and it's a town where they know your name. When we arrived at their beautiful home, their son greeted us with espressos!
The best part of our stay was when we had dinner with them our first night. Great homemade Italian food, fun conversation, and an introduction to new boozy Italian dessert - ingredients for a good night!
Arnaldo and his wife were so kind and accommodating. They went far and beyond to make our experience in their home memorable and special. After a long day exploring Florence, it was perfect to come back and relax in the quiet country side. Also, there's a church nearby where you can hear the faint church bells.
I can't wait to visit them again when we return! I'm happy to say this experience and our new friends will not be forgotten. Convenient location does not make the experience, it is the people!
A truly wonderful place to stay and 2 wonderful hosts. Both Cinzia and Arnaldo have a vast knowledge of Tuscany and are more than willing to help you with any questions and advice of the best places to visit. On our first visit to Florence Arnaldo, recommended that we drive behind him in his car as he drove to a nearby town where we then caught the tram into Florence.
Chianti Terrace is in a great location, close to Florence, the scenic drives around the Chianti region, Tuscany, Sienna and various other Tuscany locations (Monteriggoni, San Gimignano etc).
Chianti Terrace as other guests have mentioned is setup like a private suite with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, furthermore the panoramic views of the Tuscany landscape from your bedroom balcony whilst drinking a glass of Chianti Classico is a wonderful memory.
I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay in Tuscany.
We loved our stay at Arnoldo's home... we stayed for 2 nights with our teenage boys, having ample room for all of us. The rooms look exactly like the pictures on the site! They are set up like a "suite" with 2 bedrooms and a bath, separated from the rest of the house by a door. Once our boys left, my husband and I stayed for 6 nights! It was a wonderful "home base" to explore Florence and the Tuscan hill towns. Arnaldo fixed us a wonderful breakfast each morning and gave us great recommendations for things to see. At the end of the day we would sit on the small patio, share a bottle of wine, and take in the beautiful Tuscan landscape! Romola is quiet and very small. A great place to rest after a day of sightseeing! My favorite things about the house are the view from the larger bedroom, "Tommy" the dog, and our hosts... Arnaldo and his wife. They were welcoming, gracious, helpful, and kind. We hope to return and stay with them soon!
Arnaldo & Cinzia
Staying at Romola at chiantiterrace was wonderfull! The countryside south of Florence is so typical and beautiful! The room has a perfect view of Tuscany's characteristic landscape.
Arnaldo and his wife are great hosts! They are very welcoming people. It feels good to be a guest in their home.
We now have somewhere to go in Tuscany!
I loved everything so much that I don't know what to start with. Arnaldo and Chinzia. Thank you, you made us feel like a part of your family, we will never forget that. And we are looking forward to come back! Your house is full of love, care and joy, and we felt it the moment we stepped in.
Now about the place, it is perfect for relaxation. The view, the air, the beautifully decorated house, the airy and light room, the bed and bed linen, the terrace and beautiful garden, oh, we already miss it all. My little daughter and I stayed with Arnaldo and Chinzia for 3 weeks. We would usually get up, have breakfast and take a bus to Florence, do the tourist thing, have lunch and come back. Or just stayed all day "at home", played in the garden, walked around or just slept in our cosy room:)) Sometimes I didn't want to get up from the perfectly comfortable bed but the sight of the Tuscany from the balcony made me get up and go outside.
The place is only 35 min of beautiful Tuscany views through the bus window (bus stop is 2 min away). And if you have a car, there is so much to see around apart from other cities like Siena etc. Farms, vineyards, garden of irises, forests, Krishna villa with peacocks etc. Also if you travel with a child there is a very nice playground 5 min walk away and in the house there is a bidet in the bathroom which is very useful especially if you are with a baby. Also I recommend breakfasts, it is so nice to get up and to find hot coffee waiting for you!
There is a shop with all basic products 3 min away and a fridge in the room. And a church next door, the bells ring the time, it's beautiful! I want to go back!!!!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay with Arnaldo and his wife. The room was located on the 2nd floor in a private section of the home. It was very nice to stay outside of a city, and it was easy and inexpensive to reach the B&B by bus. We were welcomed to use the kitchen to cook our dinner and were given help when we had some difficulties. One time Arnaldo and his wife even shared some of their dinner with us so we could sample what was making the home smell so delicious. The view from our room was breathtaking, and we cannot wait to come back and stay again in a few years!
This was truly a hidden gem! Arnaldo's picture may not display warmth, but don't let that fool you, he's a really nice, caring guy who is obviously very well cultured. His house had everything you could ask for and a million dollar view to boot. It was truly one of the most breathtaking places my wife and I have stayed. There is a little pizza place less than a 5 minute walk away, which I highly recommend. Their wine is dirt cheap and great and the restaurant is all basically just an outdoor terrace that all the locals converge on and I mean ALL the locals. Getting back to Arnaldo's place, I highly recommend the International breakfast as he his good with his eggs. I don't know how difficult it would be getting to Arnaldo's place without a car since we drove using google gps, but the place is definitely very remote. The value was excellent and we definitely wish we could have stayed longer. The only thing I may fault is the number of mosquito bites I woke up with, but in fairness, this is Tuscany.
