Hi there, I am going to be traveling for much of the summer and am looking to rent out my large, sunny bedroom while I'm gone. It is the large, light blue one in the photos.
The apartment is a spacious, quiet, 2 bedroom that I've lived in for 3 years, and I love it. It's in western Crown Heights, just off of Nostrand, a safe, friendly neighborhood with tons of amazing Caribbean food. I am also 2 block from Franklin Ave, where there are a lot of great new restaurants and bars. It's become known as an up and coming hip area in Brooklyn.
I host a lot of dinner parties, and can comfortably fit 15 people in the living room (to give you an idea of the size. Not for 15 people to stay here :)) There are high ceilings, hard wood floors, a lovely bathroom, and fully equipped kitchen (I recently had the sink and countertops replaced). Both bedrooms are quite spacious, and the bedroom for rent (mine) gets incredible light.
Located 5 blocks from the A express train and the 3, and less than 10 minutes walk to the 2,3,4,5 Franklin Ave. stop. 20 minutes to lower Manhattan, and a fifteen minute walk (or 5 minute subway or bike ride) to Prospect Park.
You would be living with my two roommates, Tereza and Graham, their dachshund, Finch, and my cat, Sebastian. Graham is an architect and Tereza is a designer. You would in no way be responsible for the pets while here, but they are both friendly and love to pet so this place is best for animal lovers :)
I am a doula, writer, and social justice organizer who has lived in New York for 5 years. I try to keep the apartment pretty neat and clean, and create a relaxed environment to live in, and would just ask that you treat my home like your home, and I hope that you also find it to be a relaxing place to stay while you're here!
Outside area behind the buildin(website hidden)box, if you'd like to receive mail here
I will be out of town, but Graham and Tereza are happy to answer any questions you may have! And you can always reach me by phone or email.
We had a lovely time staying in Jillian's apartment. We only met her briefly, but she was very accommodating about our delayed arrival time.
Would definitely recommend staying here.
I had a nice time staying at Jillian's place.
I would stay again for sure.
The reservation was canceled 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I stayed at Jillian's with my boyfriend. The room was fine, the bed comfortable, clean sheets, a lot of space to leave our stuff and privacy. The apartment was also ok, a bit untidy but we didn't stay too much in the common areas so it didn't bother us. Clean bathroom and equipped kitchen. Lovely cats. The neighbourhood it's ok although we didn't find it attractive to go for a walk and, as a tourist, I found it a bit scary when coming back home late at night. Metro to Manhattan was 10min walk from home and there were supermarkets and fast food restaurants nearby. We didn't meet Jillian but we met her roommate and she was very nice. Jillian was also very kind when we were booking the apartment and gave us all the info we needed. They also were flexible with check in-out times and made us feel welcomed to their place.
Very comfortable and convenient, enhanced by the company of a beautiful gentleman cat! Had a little trouble finding it, but otherwise a quiet and restful experience!
Staying at Jillian's place was just perfect.
Especially in my case being in NY for the first time and also first time using airbnb!
Jillian was helpfull and kind, provided me with a Metro map so i could find my around the city!
Also speaking of privacy, it was like i had the whole app for myself.
