This is an in-law suite with its own separate entrance independent of the main house. Architectually interesting; it has floor to ceiling glass walls, heated concrete floors and has a palette of warm colors-golds, oranges, yellow. The bed is queen size with a futon couch that also makes into a double bed. The big expansive views from the bed and room are of the Pacific ocean and Coyote and Diaz Ridge.
There is a kitchenette made up of a mini fridge, microwave, toaster and sink We supply coffee and teas.
Sorry but there is NOT a cooktop stove or oven in this unit. Please check the Breezeway listing if you need a stove.
The best part of the room is our handmade concrete shower with rainbow led lights that change color while you shower!
This is a quiet space and is great for one person doing a personal retreat. We also rent the room out for longer times. Please inquire if you are interested.
Guests have access to:
Trails from the house
High speed internet
Led TV screen with apple TV
We are walking distance or a very short drive to the Pelican Inn Pub and restaurant. They serve pub food on the barside of the Inn and have a full menu and nice wine and beer list for the restaurant side. On the weekends they have a self serve brunch.
(website hidden) to see the menu....thanks!
Within the price of the room is a 15% county and federal bed and breakfast tax that we are to pay aside from Airbnb. This is new, so we did have to raise our price a wee bit....
Guests have access to the 2 person hammock, public hot tub, various scenic sitting areas, high peed internet
Our interaction with guests is low due to the fact that we hike and work and play a lot! And we like to give our guests s p a c e : )
We are usually not home when guests arrive. If you arrive after dark please let us know since there are no streetlights and it can feel darker than dark on the roads the first time here. Our grounds are well lit though...We are always available by text, cell phone for any questions or needs.
The Muir Beach community is a small tight knit colorful community of 155 homes of artists, families dog and nature lovers. It feels very safe and wonderfully removed from the rest of the world.
There is not any public transportation
There is one restaurant, The Pelican Inn, which is 1/4 mile from the house. They have pub food and a regular menu for lunch and dinner. On the weekends they have a buffet brunch. Otherwise, you have to head 10 minutes up the road to Stinson for more food variety and grocery store or 15 minutes to Mill Valley for a range of cuisine and a variety of chain grocery stores and gas
Our trip to Muir Beach was absolutely incredible. However, I don't think it would have been possible to really enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the place itself had it not been for the access we had to Denise and Greg's 5-star hospitality as well as their stunning accommodation. The Getaway was the perfect place to spend a weekend retreat! Waking up to picturesque views of nature was quite a contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life that most of us are used to. Denise and Greg gave us everything we needed and were there to answer all of our questions. We will 100% come back again in the future for another weekend getaway. Thanks so much!
Denise's listing was absolutely lovely. The view is incredible, the bed is super comfy, and the location is super convenient to hiking in Muir Woods or Stinson Beach. Definitely recommend!
The Getaway was the perfect destination for what we needed. My wife and I were leaving our 14-month old with her grandmother to get the first night of good sleep and R&R since she was born, and the Getaway came through. The comfort level was perfect, the space was perfect. We happened to be there on a totally rainy day without the view and we did not care because the comfort and coziness trumped the view.nothing but good things to say about our experience.
Incredible place, fantastic host. It was radiant both literally and figuratively.
Breezeway cottage is an awesome experience for anyone who needs to relax and get away from the city. We saw deer, a skunk(!), sat in the hot tub and slept incredibly peacefully. We went on an awesome hike on the Matt Davis trail the next day, all in all, an excellent 24 hour break, would highly recommend it!
What a serene place... I surprised my fiancé with birthday weekend, that he told me when we were leaving that was one of the best weekends of his life. Waking up to the sun rising, able to wake up slowly and hike to Tennessee valley with a small picnic, come back- shower and go in the hot tub, then a quick nap on the hammock before a beautiful walk to pelican inn for the best fish n chips of my life.
You don't even know that Denise is there, it was a beautiful place and we look forward to going back
I would definitely recommend a stay at The Getaway. The view is spectacular. And Denise is a great host! The place was very clean and well stocked with amenities like fresh towels, soap, coffee, and tea.
Wonderful! My girlfriend and I just spent one night here for a "post-finals/pre-Holiday craziness" retreat, and we had an incredible time. It's hard imagine a more serene location: beautiful little garden, amazing views, soft bed, and a room full of perfect morning light. We also loved the rainbow shower (!!!), nighttime/morning dips in the hot tub, and a short visit from a very friendly and waggly dog.
We also spent the day hiking around the area--took the Owl Trail to Slide Ranch, where we ran into friends, goats, chickens, and ducks; and then headed the other way to wander around Green Gulch Farm and Muir Beach. I highly recommend both options, and this place is a perfect starting-point for them.
Denise's house and the surrounding are just amazing. Certainly worthwhile to stay longer than I did!
This place is PERFECT for personal retreat- which is what I came for. I was looking for a space to chill out, enjoy nature and write. You really can't beat the location- it's a quick 5 min or less walk to the beach, which isn't crowded at all and has little mountains to hike on from there. Muir Woods is two miles away, so more hiking options there. The place itself is awesome. Hanging out in the hammock while watching the hawks fly overhead and the deer hanging out nearby made for great nature watching. The bed is comfy, floors are heated which keeps it toasty; and the apple tv made for some great movie watching. Very nice family- would definitely recommend it and hope to stay here again.
