About this listing
This nicely furnished studio apartment is detached from the main home, and includes two twin beds and a double futon, a nicely equipped outdoor kitchen, and shares use of the covered veranda and deck. The indoor space is compact, but a couple with two small children can sleep and shower here comfortably.
The location is very convenient to highway 130 into Puna and to highway 11 which circles much of the island, so it's very convenient to Hilo, Pahoa, Kea'au, and Volcano, as well as a great home base for exploring the entire island. I love to share Big Island travel tips and trivia, my knowledge of Hawaiian plants and culture, and farm fresh eggs and produce with you!! Guests that are also animal lovers will be most happy here, as I have numerous cats and kittens, two small dogs, and eight chickens.
Please be sure to recycle all clean paper, plastic, cans, etc. in the green bin provided in the outdoor kitchen (bottom shelf of cabinet near table). Please put food garbage in the plastic container in the sink (and/or in plastic bags) and store in the freezer--it will provide a later meal for the chickens without attracting insects. Please put other rubbish that is not recyclable (styrofoam, etc) in the large black bin in the kitchen area.
Please be sure to store most or all of your food in the refrigerator--also to try and keep insects away.
If the weather permits, please hang your wet towels, etc. on the clothesline provided outside the apartment under the eaves.
Thank you for helping us keep the Apartment mildew and bug-free!
I grew up in California, and came to the Big Island of Hawaii 9 years ago. I love plants and food, children and animals, art and photography. I would love to travel to Europe again, but first I hope to travel to Asia: China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and to eat my way through every delicious region!
But until then, meeting people from all parts of the world as they travel to our beautiful, welcoming island is just perfect!
