Lovely Studio Apartment Near Hilo

Apartment - Private room · Olena Ave, Keaau, HI 96749, United States

The Space

This nicely furnished studio apartment is detached from the main home, and includes two twin beds and a double futon, a nicely equipped outdoor kitchen, and shares use of the covered veranda and deck. The indoor space is compact, but a couple with two small children can sleep and shower here comfortably.
The location is very convenient to highway 130 into Puna and to highway 11 which circles much of the island, so it's very convenient to Hilo, Pahoa, Kea'au, and Volcano, as well as a great home base for exploring the entire island. I love to share Big Island travel tips and trivia, my knowledge of Hawaiian plants and culture, and farm fresh eggs and produce with you!! Guests that are also animal lovers will be most happy here, as I have numerous cats and kittens, two small dogs, and eight chickens.

  • The location and facilities were very good. Darya was very helpful whenever we asked for help. The location was very good for getting to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which was fascinating for us.

  • I unexpectedly checked in the same time that Darya was having a supper with friends, and I was immediately accepted and asked to join in with them! Darya is a wonderful, friendly and warm person who made my stay very memorable.
The room was better than expected...clean, warm/cozy and had everything I needed-including an outdoor kitchen area. Well situated in a beautiful and quiet tropical setting yet accessible to the main roads in little time.
I will definitely be coming back to stay at Darya's place when I'm back in town.
    Thank you Darya..

  • Our stay here was fantastic! Darya actually put us in the other house, with private bathroom, kitchen, and a large living room. She also gave us some free-range eggs and coffee for a start (which is great by the way... Kona is known for having one of the best coffees in the world). Very nice spot if you want to explore the east side of the island. If you plan to go to the west side, expect at least 2h driving.

  • Had a lovely stay at Darya's place. Her main house was closed so she changed our booking to the second house, which was very spacious and well looked after. The house was clean and comfortable and Darya herself was very helpful.

  • Not much I can add without duplicating what others have already said, as the previous reviews have been quite accurate. I stayed for two nights and would return again, as the place is clean, cozy and reasonable priced! Darya was easy to communicate with and she responded quickly to email and text messages. I had no issues in finding the place, even though it was late in the evening and raining heavily. I would recommend arriving during the daytime to get settled in. The place is ideal for setting up home base when exploring the East part of the island, as the Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, Puna and Hilo are all easy to get to.

  • The place is very nice and clean. The bamboo floor makes it even better. A lot of green color around, that is trees and shrubs. Highway is far enough, so that at night you can listen to tropical birds, not cars. We would love to stay there again.

  • Darya place is lovely. We stayed in an efficiency with an outdoor kitchen off the main house. It is quiet and private. Darya family is very quiet, all we could hear is the singing bird and frogs. We have everything we need to explore the Big Island. Thanks Darya.

  • Darya is a really lovely lady and the room she offers is a great place for spending sime time on the island. When we arrived she offered us fresh fruits and eggs from her chickens which was really kind. The room was clean and comfortable and the outdoor kitchen was a great place to start the day with a sunny breakfast. :)

  • The apartment was wonderful - clean, spacious, and comfortable! It was great to have access to the deck and patio furniture right outside the apartment. Darya and her family were very courteous and friendly. I stayed for two nights and I totally recommend it!

About
I grew up in California, and came to the Big Island of Hawaii 9 years ago. I love plants and food, children and animals, art and photography. I would love to travel to Europe again, but first I hope to travel to Asia: China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and to eat my way through every delicious region! But until then, meeting people from all parts of the world as they travel to our beautiful, welcoming island is just perfect!
