I have a room for rent in beautiful and quiet Greenpoint, BK, one block from the G train, and a 10 minute walk from McCaren park and the noisier Bedford avenue in Williamsburg. The room has a queen-size bed, tons of closet space and gorgeous flowing natural light. The apartment is modern-styled and open, fully furnished, with a large modern kitchen, and a comfortable living room complete with a Netflix and DVD equipped flat-screen TV. But the real gem of the place is the outdoor patio - 400sq feet, with views of the Chrysler and BOAmerica building. Absolutely stunning on a clear day. The building also has rooftop access for full views of manhattan from downtown world trade center to midtown Empire State building.
Guest can expect a quiet and private room with big windows and great natural light, and will probably want to spend alot of their time in the living room or patio area where they can relax and take in the views of the city. I will be mostly an absent host during the daytime hours, but if my schedule allows it, I will be more than happy to give a tour or go out to dinner/drinks in the neighborhood at one of the many great drinking/eating spots.
Greenpoint Brooklyn is a great mixture of the old and new. Polish meat markets line the street, along with hip bars and restaurants. The area is perfect for anybody wanting to get a real 'new york neighborhood' experience, with still easy access to the bustle of manhattan. Greenpoint also has Paulie Gees, one of the best gourmet pizza spots in all of NYC.
The apartment is directly accessible by the G train, and through a quick transfer is two stops away from midtown manhattan or union square via the L, E and 7 trains. Even better is the East River ferry, an 8 minute walk from the apartment with access all the way to downtown manhattan. Just absolutely stunning and only $4.
What makes my apartment and space unique is the amazing views of manhattan combined with quiet atmospheric comfort of neighborhood Brooklyn. Truly a special place that I look forward to sharing.
---DISCLAIMER. I own this apartment, so the recent airbnb court ruling disputing airbnb in NYC does not apply here. I am free to have guests come and go. All reservations will be honored.-----
My boyfriend & I stayed at Sam's over the weekend & it was absolutely perfect!!! It was just what we needed during our stay in NYC; unreal location - so close to the subway & so easy to navigate from, amazing rooftop balcony, very neat & clean, convenience stores just around the corner & an awesome area - Greenpoint & Brooklyn is where it's at! The photos are exactly what you get. We can't recommend Sam enough. He's a great guy, let us do our own thing, gave us out space but was also more than happy to give us recommendations. We needed a place that did a great late breakfast & Sam nailed it with his recommendation (Anella in Brookyln). Kudos Sam & thanks again for sharing your wonderful apartment with us! Emma & Fidel
Sam came through when a fellow New Yorker needed him most! I needed to get out of my apartment up the street b/c of a break up and Sam, such a gentleman, responded promptly to my message requesting to stay here. I felt totally comfortable here, he takes great care of his place and even has a washer and dryer! Luxury!! And the view from the terrace is sick!! Will definitely keep him in mind and refer my out of town friends to stay with him when they come visit. This place is that good. Thanks, Sam for providing me with a safe haven during a stressful time!
Sam's place is great and Sam is great. Greenpoint is not far at all from everything you want to see in Brooklyn or in Manhattan (although you will have to transfer trains to get into Manhattan--it was never much of an issue though). The apartment is spotless and very comfortable and the view from the terrace and the roof are great. Sam is a great host and is just the right amount of laid-back. If you're looking for somewhere clean and relaxing, this is the place to stay.
Sam is an incredibly cool dude, and is a perfect example of what AirBNB is all about: meeting awesome people, and feel like you are home. Sam is very educated, cultured and funny. The times I did spend evenings with him felt like I was visit a friend from many years as we exchanged travel stories and even watched boxing matches!!
Cheers Sam, thanks for everything, I hope you'll have me again Spring 2014!
Sam was great! The apartment was just like how the photos showed it to be, in great condition, great views, and an awesome set up. The porch also has a great view of the city and it's very clean / tidy. Sam and I bonded about tech / start ups but that's besides the point haha he's good guy and I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a really nice place to stay at along with a cool host to hang with.
Sam is equal as the city where he live: amazing, kind.
We spend a very warmy and confortable trip in the big apple, and our host help us to find good places and things to do.
We recommanded him to everyone want to discovering NYC in good condition, near the metro.

Sam was a perfect host. The apartment is spacious, sunny and clean. Would recommend to anyone.
Sam's pad is spacious, comfortable, well furnished, with a superlative view from the 'deck.' Sam is a gentleman and a scholar. He works very hard but is approachable and helpful all the same; we shared some pleasant times chatting over wine in the living room, and he kindly advised my friend and I on restaurants, bars, and goings on. Generally, Sam's easy-going and gracious and he helped us feel immediately at home, setting the stage for a fully satisfying stay in Brooklyn and the rest of the city.
Sam's place is comfortable, modern and well-equipped, with lots of light. As the weather was just perfect, we particularly enjoyed having breakfast on the large terrace, with that fabulous view.
Sam was very easy-going and clear as to arrangements to use the bathroom and kitchen. He was always ready to give advice, even though he was very busy studying.
The apartment is located in a very lively neighbourhood with shops, restaurants, pubs, the subway, a bike rental, and the ferry nearby. We always felt safe, even coming out of the subway late at night.
The apartment was exactly as described - great views and lots of light. Sam kindly hosted me at the last minute and provided some great tips on the area. Greenpoint was a fantastic location for my visit - there's so much to see and do within close proximity of the apartment and the East River Ferry gives access to Manhattan within minutes.
The apartment itself was modern and really comfortable, with a great bed, lots of storage space, and the terrace was perfect for relaxing before a day of exploration around the city. The area was really quiet at night so it's ideal for a good sleep, yet there are lots of restaurants, cafés and bars just minutes away.
Highly recommended - with thanks to Sam and Kara for all the tips and advice. Hope to return soon.
