The Space

THE ROOM and bathroom are the top floor of my home. This makes for a very private stay that will feel like your own space. My bedroom has a very comfortable mattress for the queen size bed, a desk, chair, and a view of lively trees. High speed Wi-Fi and clean bath towels are provided.

THE REST OF THE HOUSE is very quiet with a living room on the first floor. The Kitchen has everything you probably need during your visit, stove, fridge, dishwasher, plenty of glasses and plates, etc.

ME: I love being a host. I love meeting new people which is why I am an activist and have been working for non-profits for over 12 years. Meeting new people from across the world has been wonderful. I adore Philadelphia, and look forward to you enjoying it too.

MY NEIGHBORHOOD has coffee shops, local bars, great food, and mini supermarket for groceries or fresh fruit are all within a few blocks. Check my guidebook for details.
I am a short walk to Rittenhouse Square which has a large beautiful park.

GETTING AROUND is easy. The reliable bus #12 has a stop 2 minutes walking distance from the house and takes you along locust street to Center City, The Convention Center or Old City. There is buses 7, and 17 just four minutes away. A taxi to city hall will be about $9.

PARKING during the day here is easy with FREE street parking usually found on my block. At night I generally need to park only a block or two away (which for my location is excellent).

  • Tommy's place is amazing - just like in the pictures. The room is bright and quiet. The neighbourhood is great too with plenty of nice cafes and restaurants within 10min walking distance. I really liked the location of the house because it was very central (plenty of buses nearby/20min walk to downtown) but at the same time quiet and safe.
Tommy is lovely too and very considerate! I would definitely stay here again

  • Tommy was very helpful with everything and the apartment was just great - comfortable (especially the bed), clean, full of sunlight, in a cool neighbourhood and within walking distance from the city center. And I even found a parking spot just in front of the house :) Thank you Tommy for making my first experience with airbnb so enjoyable!

  • A lovely, spacious, clean and tranquil room, where I instantly felt at home and comfortable. Tommy was ever so helpful and I was provided with everything I'd need to know, as well as being very welcoming and the perfect host!
The neighbourhood felt safe and was a short walk from the city centre, as well as the shops and restaurants on South Street. If I was to visit Philadelphia again I would definitely look to stay here again! Thanks!

  • Tommy couldn't have been a more jovial and accommodating host. He is very attentive (especially when needed) and his home is absolutely lovely! Cleanliness was impeccable as well as wonderful modern, clean line decor. We have even "borrowed" his idea of having Air Plants in our own home. I can definitely recommend this place and once we get our home in order for our own AirBnb hosting we hope he will come and visit in Louisville.

  • Room and bathroom were great. Information on what to do in the area were also superb. Tommy was very nice and takes airbnb seriously. He made sure we got to and into his place okay and made it easy for us to stay there.

  • It was great staying at Tommy's. He has thought of everything, even having transit tokens available. Didn't meet Tommy until we were leaving, but his friend, Carol helped us. Parking was a slight problem but not impossible.

  • Everything about Tommy's place was fantastic. I had never been to Philadelphia, So experiencing it through Tommy's neighborhood was a fabulous introduction. Lots of great restaurants, coffee shops, etc., All within walking distance.

Tommy was great and the room is very comfortable. And a very good deal I might add. One especially cool point was being able to look out the window if you take a shower in the evening and get the local weather and other tidbits from a giant scrolling signboard on a building about a mile away! Seriously though, one of the most cozy and private places I've found on AirBNB.

  • Tommy clearly takes hosting through airbnb seriously and was careful to make our stay comfortable. The room and bathroom are on the third floor of his apartment which gave us plenty of privacy. They were clean and tastefully decorated.

Most impressive were the materials Tommy left for us to ease the stress of traveling--he provided us with several pamphlets on the subway lines, a very helpful guidebook, and a note on our arrival with restaurant recommendations and nearby pharmacies and grocery stores. Tommy is familiar with the neighborhood and was ready to answer any questions we had. We really appreciated his attention to detail. He left earplugs for us in the medicine cabinet and had bottled water for us in the fridge.

The apartment itself is in a great location. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to visit from the Barnes Foundation to the historical sites in Old City. We really enjoyed our stay with Tommy and would recommend him to anyone visiting the city.

  • Tommy and Cathy were wonderful hosts. They are so busy that we rarely saw them, so it felt like we had the house to ourselves. When we did meet them, we enjoyed our conversation.

The apartment is the third floor of this small trinity house. The whole house has been renovated and the bedroom is light and airy, with a small desk to work at. Their WiFi was easy to use. The bathroom is large and full of light. The plants add to the homey atmosphere. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean. As was the whole house. We did spend some time reading in the living room and felt very comfortable.

The queen size bed is amazingly comfortable and we slept very well.

The neighborhood is quiet (email hidden) park is across the street. Tommy left us bus maps but we found the walk over to Penn campus and the walk downtown (to Rittenhouse Square and City Hall) was reasonable. We even walked all the way to the historic district and back with ease.

There are many restaurants within easy walk as well.

This was our first experience with airbnb and we were very pleased.

    Thank you Tommy and Cathy.

About
I am a 33 year old guy who works hard and laughs harder. For 12 years I have been working and living in Philadelphia and loving it! I grew up in Philly's suburbs and moved here as soon as I could. For work I currently have two jobs I love. My full-time job I conduct HIV Testing sessions for Philadelphia's Latino LGBT organization and part-time I work with a small group of Philadelphia high school students teaching them Philanthropy. Basically, they have 5 months to learn how to make grants totally $50,000 which they grant to agencies serving Philadelphia youth. It's amazing and certainly never dull. I care a lot about people which is why I have worked in the non-profit sector for over 12 years now. In addition to work I have also been volunteering with various projects. My dad had 3 jobs to support our family when I was growing up which taught me the value of hard work, which is why I give 110% to my jobs. In my spare time I go out to eat to hang out and relax with my friends and partner. I read comic books, watch my favorite TV shows on-line (GLEE, GLEE, GLEE!) and spend time in the suburbs with my parents. I have been hosting with AirBNB for almost a year now. I love people, hence the work I do, and it has been great welcoming people to Philly by sharing my home.
