THE ROOM and bathroom are the top floor of my home. This makes for a very private stay that will feel like your own space. My bedroom has a very comfortable mattress for the queen size bed, a desk, chair, and a view of lively trees. High speed Wi-Fi and clean bath towels are provided.
THE REST OF THE HOUSE is very quiet with a living room on the first floor. The Kitchen has everything you probably need during your visit, stove, fridge, dishwasher, plenty of glasses and plates, etc.
ME: I love being a host. I love meeting new people which is why I am an activist and have been working for non-profits for over 12 years. Meeting new people from across the world has been wonderful. I adore Philadelphia, and look forward to you enjoying it too.
MY NEIGHBORHOOD has coffee shops, local bars, great food, and mini supermarket for groceries or fresh fruit are all within a few blocks. Check my guidebook for details.
I am a short walk to Rittenhouse Square which has a large beautiful park.
GETTING AROUND is easy. The reliable bus #12 has a stop 2 minutes walking distance from the house and takes you along locust street to Center City, The Convention Center or Old City. There is buses 7, and 17 just four minutes away. A taxi to city hall will be about $9.
PARKING during the day here is easy with FREE street parking usually found on my block. At night I generally need to park only a block or two away (which for my location is excellent).

I came to attend a conference downtown and Tommy was a fantastic host. Very easy to reach by phone and was extremely helpful with anything I needed. Was always open and clear with what he was doing so that my stay was not adversely affected. He even drove me downtown one morning (he works downtown so it wasn't out of the way)!
His place is in a relatively quiet location and even when getting back late at night, I never felt like I was unsafe. He provides basic toiletries so that travellers don't need to pack as much which is always appreciated (I hate packing those small tubes of toothpaste). He also left transit information for me knowing that I needed to get to the conference centre. Travelling to and from the core was never an issue, the public transit system is good and the city itself is pretty tightly packed together. Took no longer than 15 minutes on a bus to get there, with traffic. You could even walk if you wanted to (25-40 minutes depending on walking speed)
The room I stayed in was bright and clean. The bed was very comfortable. It isn't the biggest room but it definitely doesn't detract from the overall quality of the place, it was a well furnished home. I had a few colleagues stay in a nice hotel downtown and honestly, you have close to the same amount of space when you include the bathrooms. Speaking of which, you get your own bathroom and it is also spotlessly clean.
Overall, I had a very good experience with Tommy and would highly recommend staying with him. Would stay again.
El anfitrión muy amable, ofreciendo facilidades por todo y la casa preciosa. Es un barrio residencial pero el centro está bien conectado con el autobús.
Tommy is such a caring and thoughtful host, he kept checking my needs from time to time, brought me fruits, left me bus tokens and maps, shared dining suggestions and even drove me to campus one busy morning after snow when I couldn't order an Uber! He is a sincere gentleman who is great to talk to.
The place is exactly as described. Neat, warm and cozy. I immediately felt like home in the first evening of my 1-week stay. It is easy to walk to the city centre and the neighborhood is very peaceful.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a home away from home in Philly!
Tommy made me feel very welcome. His house is beautiful and very clean. You have a lot of privacy on the top floor, and a bedroom and bathroom to yourself. Tommy provided a city map and a helpful guide that lists nearby dining options, grocery store, and other details. He also offers free bottled water and use of his kitchen, as well as towels and soap. I would definitely stay here again.
Staying with Tommy was such a pleasure! The house is gorgeous, the bed is so comfortable, having our own floor was a real treat, and everything was immaculate. Tommy was really sweet and helpful, and a really thorough communicator. Everything was totally smooth, and we had a warm, serene, comfortable home base on a cold weekend of Philly exploration. Thanks!
Amazing stay. Tommy was accommodating with every need and he made me feel very much at home. The bedroom and bathroom are adjacent to each other and afford nice privacy. The house is beautifully designed and conveniently located to the Penn campus.
Tommy made my first time using Airbnb an absolute pleasure! The room and bathroom were exactly as described, wonderfully bright, and super clean. I loved how great the bed was and the awesome view of the city buildings from the shower :) The neighborhood was amazing as well. Unfortunately I was in Philly for work this time, but next time I definitely want to walk around check out all the cool spots in the area. I loved everything about my stay. Tommy's super friendly and welcoming nature and the fantastic room made me love Philadelphia even more. I would recommend this listing to anyone and will definitely be back :)

I am a 34 year old guy who works hard and laughs harder. For 13 years I have been working/living in Philadelphia and loving it! I grew up in Philly's suburbs and moved here as soon as I could. For work I have two jobs I love. Full-time I conduct HIV Testing sessions for Philadelphia's Latino LGBT organization and part-time I work with a group of Philadelphia high school students teaching them Philanthropy. Basically, they have 5 months to learn how to make grants totaling $50,000 which they grant to agencies serving Philadelphia youth. It's amazing and certainly never dull.
I care a lot about people which is why I have worked in the non-profit sector for over 13 years. I also have been volunteering with various projects. My dad worked 3 jobs to support our family growing up which taught me the value of hard work. In my spare time I go out to eat and relax with my friends, explore the city or am in the suburbs with my parents.
I have been hosting with AirBNB for 2 years now. I love hearing guests stories of what brings them to Philadelphia and look forward to sharing my home and welcoming you to Philadelphia.
