  • My boyfriend, Sister and I stayed in Altea's apartment this past weekend. Altea and her boyfriend Max were great hosts and did their best to make our stay stress free. They arranged taxi services to and from the airport, which were very efficient and reasonably priced (for Rome). On arrival at the apartment at night, we were a little dubious about the location, seemed a bit grim but in the morning with better light we realised that much of Rome was the same and it was actually bad at all.

The apartment itself was as seen on the pictures and was walking distance from St Peters Square (5 min walk). Very clean (those reviews that said the contrary were totally wrong). I am a very brutally honest and fussy person, so it means a lot if say I liked something. Great views of St Peters from the balcony. Apartment was fully equipped with kitchen utilities etc. There were great little convenience stores on the same road as the flat, supermarket selling amazing fresh produce, bakery for freshly made bread, restaurant were we enjoyed 10% discount for being Altea's guests etc...

The only slight downside were that the tv didn't work which was especially bad for my football and tennis loving boyfriend. We did manage to watch the World Cup games and tennis matches in some of the restaurant/bars within the city centre. It was probably better anyway as it was better atmosphere and we could enjoy them over local Italian food and glasses of beer and wine. The apartment also only had one fan which was not great as the weather was nearly 40 degrees celsius, so made sleeping at night very hard. We addressed both issues to Altea but unfortunately they we're not resolved during our stay. I know that both have now been rectified so I'm sure the next guests will benefit from both these amenities.

We would happily return to Altea's apartment. Thank you Altea and Max! We loved the apartment and you were great hosts.

  • The apartment was absolutely wonderful! It was clean and had everything we needed and more to make our stay in Rome exactly what we hoped for. What you see is what you get. The apartment is beautifully decorated and very spacious. The neighborhood was awesome too, the Vatican was only a two minute walk down the street, there was a grocery store just up the road and multiple restaurants and shops directly outside. The apartment was also quiet. Communicating with the Altea Team was lovely. They were very friendly and willing to answer any questions. Upon our arrival we were given a tour of the apartment, a map of the city, and tips/recommendations for getting around Rome along with restaurants and cafés to visit. Overall our experience was fantastic! We would definitely recommend this place and dream of coming back in the future!!

  • Altea was a scamp. The apartment was not the one shown in the airbnb site. To start, we were charged €56 extra for a city tax we were not informed about before hand. The apartment was under furnished, badly equipped, didn' t have any cleaning supplies, we even found a pot with left over food. It had broken blinds, stained and old bed sheets, the toilet kept getting clogged, the hot water in the shower kept going on and off. And finally, the day we left, the cleaning lady arrived at 8:30 in the morning!!! The only good thing is the location, but there are other options near by with much better prices. This is the first time we have such a bad experience with airbnb.

  • This was a wonderfully nice apartment just a few hundrew meters from St. Peter's Square. Location was excellent - close to The Vatican, transportation and food/grocery. The partment was as advertised. And the taxi service provided was on time, clean and a good value! All in all - GREAT!

  • Really nice apartment! The host responded immediately to all my request. Thanks Altea!

Will recommend ear-plugs if you are sensitive to any little noise. I had to sleep on the couch and the large clock kept me awake. Also in case you are not aware, as of 2011, there is a tourist tax 2 euro/per person per day. This caught us by surprise but luckily we had enough euro to pay the fee.

Had a wonderful time in Rome!

  • A wonderful flat in a fantastic location. The flat is airy, bright and modern with a great little sauna for one in the kitchen!!! Perfect for the in-laws over from Peru who were very keen to see The Vatican. What a view and only a 10 minute leisurely stroll away. Landlord is very friendly and helpful. (don't really understand any of the negative comments about this flat).
