I live in a charming, first floor, 2 bedroom, art deco apartment. It is clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. All rooms face north, so it is light-filled. The East facing balcony has glimpses of the city and treetop surrounds of the suburb. There are two flights of stairs in the entry.
I have decorated my guest bedroom with the pre-Raphaelite designer and poet, William Morris, in mind so you will find a combination of beauty and usefulness there. The bedroom is private and contains a steel framed double bed, with an inner sprung mattress. You will also find a wardrobe and desk. All pillows, linen and blankets are provided.
The shared bathroom contains a bath/shower and toilet. Towels are provided. A hair dryer is available for your use - just ask.
My kitchen is small, however well-equipped with a gas stove/oven and you are welcome to cook and eat at home - just let me know if you plan to do this.
I provide a small breakfast of bircher muesli, toast, fruit, juice and tea/coffee and you can help yourself to herbal and black tea & coffee for your refreshment throughout your stay. Please let me know if you'd like anything in particular so I can be prepared.
Free WIFI is available for guests to use.
I have a front-loading washing machine that you are welcome to use and undercover drying or a washing line in the shared backyard.
Summer Hill has a lovely village atmosphere with many alfresco dining options, a central plaza with a fountain and mural and bakeries, grocers, a butcher and supermarkets. In addition there are doctors, physios, chiropractors, a chemist, massage and hairdressers. For those who want to discover their inner child, there is also a great toy shop and babyware shop. The centre is just steps away from my place and I'm happy to direct you should you need anything in particular.
There are numerous transport options:
Train - Summer Hill station (4 minute walk from my place) is a 16 minute train ride to Central station on the Inner West Line . Central connects with the Airport line for a direct transfer to Domestic and International airports. (It is approximately $16 from the airport to my place - one way).
Bus - The 413 bus stops at the end of my street, and takes about 20 minutes to get to the Railway Square (Central train station). About 10 minutes along this route towards the city you can alight for Leichhardt - Sydney's 'Little Italy' and then if you take the route just past Railway Square you will be in 'Chinatown'.
Taxi - approximately 25 minutes from the airport and to the city (Airport - $35-$50 depending on the time of the day).

Great experience staying with Bronwen. The house was very pleasant - large double bed for guests, very open and light. Enjoyed my time there and would stay there again.
I stayed with Bronwen for 5 ½ weeks whilst on a student work placement and I have to say I couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay. Upon arriving at the flat I was met by an incredibly friendly and hospitable host who made me feel extremely welcome. Breakfast was catered for based upon my personal preference (within reason of course) with the added extra of Bronwens’ home made ‘Bircher’ which was a delight- so much so I took a copy of the recipe :). During my stay we spend many hours chatting and it was clear that Bronwen is someone who enjoys meeting new people. The room was clean, warm and very comfortable. The location is superb as its close to a main train line that takes you straight into Newtown and the CBD. I can’t recommend this flat highly enough and look forward to returning sometime soon. Thanks again Bronwen !! xx
I had a great stay with Bronwen in Sydney. Her apartment was lovely and she was a marvelous host. She helped with any questions I had and aided me in helping find my way round. She makes a lovely museli breakfast for you each morning and fruit is on hand. She is interesting to talk to and enjoys travel herself so it was good to find out things. Thanks for a great time and I hope you visit Mallorca soon.
We enjoyed our stay at Browen's place. It was great and we felt like having a home in Sydney. The location in Summer Hill is just perfect. It is only 20 Minutes to Sydney Central by train but still in a quiet and nice surrounding.
Bronwen was a great host. We got fresh fruit every morning and a very delicious self made special bircher muesly with blue berries. So every day has started perfectly.
We can definitely recommend staying there and we will do that the next time we are visiting Sydney.
Staying for 5 nights at Bronwen's place was ideal for us. Its a lovely place. Bronwen is an excellent and welcoming host, a good conversationist who nevertheless gives her guests plenty of space. The upstairs apartment (no lift, so no disabled access) is one of 4 in a 2 storey apartment block very close to the Summer Hill village and train station (so its very easy to get into the CBD). Its in an older style building and thus the apartment is older style too, but with good facilities. Bronwen keeps the apartment immaculately clean. Some limitations: It doesn't have air-conditioning; the guest bedroom is a bit small; and there is no wi-fi available. None of these were a problem for us and we really enjoyed our stay! Highly recommended.
We loved the homeliness, friendly atmosphere, style and decor, but if you are expecting stainless steel, glass and marble you will be sorely disappointed. Apartment is 5 minutes walk from the train station, and the train ride is 15 minutes into the city. Area has lots of nice cafes.
Bronwen was really friendly, nothing was a problem and she did a lot of research for us about what was and wasn't open on the public holiday, as we were there over NY. Very easy and interesting to talk to. She was flexible with our arrival and departing times. She also encouraged feedback to help her improve the stay of other guests in the future. We gave feedback during the stay and this was taken care of immediately.
Thanks for a great stay Bronwen and hopefully we will see you at our side of the ditch soon :)

I am freshly moved to Melbourne after having lived in the Inner West of Sydney for the past 8 years. I'm really enjoying my 'tram-change'.
I combine work as a musician with part-time admin work in a local university.
I enjoy walking, riding a bike and inside pursuits like reading, quilting and being generally creative. (You may have to share the spare room with the latest quilting project - just joking!). I like listening to music when I'm at home, and my tastes are broad although I'm classically trained.
I first caught the travelling bug from parents who took me with them to live in Bangladesh when I was a child. Now I most enjoy travelling in France. I've cycled a small distance of the French part of the Way of St James, and most recently have enjoyed researching family history in the North-West and visiting Mont St Michel (a dream come true!). I hope I have many more trips to indulge my love of trains and soak up that irresistible French atmosphere.
My newest adventures are on home soil - learning French and attending philosophy classes. I recently completed my first 10 day Vipassana silent meditation retreat and it was great.
I can understand a little French, German and Italian.

Airbnb is a great service that works on mutuality and trust. It would be great if you would attend to these three things before you approach me about booking.
