About This Listing
The Hale Le'a Le'a, which in Hawaiian means the “HOUSE OF GREAT PLEASURE”, resides beach front on the famous shoreline of North Shore Oahu.
Just steps to the beach and you'll be digging your toes in the sand and hopefully see a Honu or two, (our resident Hawaiian green sea turtles), bobbing in the the ocean. Our beach is serene and semi private, but if you prefer we are also close to all the world renowned North Shore beaches, such as Ali'i Beach, Chuns, Lonis, Waiamea Bay, Banzai Pipeline and Sunset beach.
Waialua is a wonderful and very centralized location. Just 2 miles to historic Haleiwa town. There you will find many unique boutique and surf shops. There is a wide array of restaurants, ranging from fresh local seafood, Thai food, Mexican food, “Kua Aina” for burgers and sandwiches, the food trucks that specialize in shrimp plates and don't forget Matsumoto's for a shaved ice.
The activities available are endless, from Scuba dives, deep sea fishing, Shark adventure tours, whale watching (seasonal), or rent surf boards, paddle boards, jet skis, kayaks or snorkel gear.
And a short drive to Dillingham Airport offers skydives, ultra light flight tours and glider rides. Mokuleia Beach, the Polo fields, horseback riding and Kaena Point are also nearby. And don't forget the Dole Pineapple Plantation, Waimea falls, the Polynesian Cultural Center and Turtle Bay.
Easy day trips to Pearl Harbor Memorial, Diamond Head Crater, Waikiki, Makapu'u Lighthouse, and shopping at the swap meet at Aloha Stadium.
And of coarse remember to just relax at Hale Le'a Le'a, the “HOUSE OF GREAT PLEASURE”. Listen to the sound of the surf and the trade winds blowing through the coconut palms with a Mai Tai in hand at sunset.

This beachfront stay was truly beachfront. A gate straight to a glorious beach from the yard. The accommodation is very private and spacious, Immediately felt at home and relaxed. We only saw our host twice, when we arrived and when we departed, however on both occasions, Lorraine was so friendly. The house itself is at at the end of a cul de sac and basically no traffic. The nearby historic town of Haleiwa is so charming and close by for dinner. We didn't explore much as we really wanted a place just to relax and chill out, and Lorraine's certainly ticked those boxes. I would most certainly like to come back and stay again!
We spent our honeymoon having picnics on the beach and listening to the waves at night. Lorraine was a wonderful host. We did have a minor issue with the door not locking but she took care of it quickly. Not 100% private, it is attached to the main house but still could not have asked for a more picturesque island getaway!
Toller ruhiger Strand in Wohnumgebung.
This was an all around great experience for us at the North Shore. You can't beat the location, and the space is great. Everything you need; washer/dryer, full kitchen, grill, is right at your finger tips. The house is a short drive from the main town of Haleiwa which has all the great restaurants in the area. Lorainne was also great, greeted us when we arrived, gave us recommendations, and showed us around.
All in all, a great place to stay on the North Shore.
This was our first visit to Hawaii so came unsure of what to expect. The first few nights in Waikiki were bustling and felt quite touristy, coming to Lorraine's was a cool refreshing change. The place itself is not hard to find a short 55min drive from Waikiki if going through the middle of the country or a longer 2hr route through eastern coast. We did the shorter route getting there and eastern coast leaving - highly recommend the eastern route very scenic drive.
The driving to the front of the building there was some building work going on, but there was space to park one car infront. We came earlier then expected but Dennis met us and showed us around, Lorraine later introduced herself and gave us a few more tips on things to do. Both seem genuine and lovely people and were very helpful, but gave us our privacy and left us to enjoy our stay.
The unit itself is lot bigger then it seems on the photos, has all the amenities you need - cooking utensils and utilities, washing machine and dryer, large fridge and microwave, and equipment for snorkelling and body boarding.
But as can be seen in photos it is the views and setting just 10-20m from the waves that stand out. What can't been shared through the photos is the calm and tranquillity one feels sitting on the porch with the sea breeze carrying the saltiness of the sea and coconut trees genuine swaying.
The unit isn't a 5star hotel and doesn't aim to be so don't come expecting brand new fittings and a king size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets. It is a very clean and well maintained unit, with comfortable bed which sleeps two, there is some wear an tear as you'd expect with a place that close to the sea (rust on some metal surfaces) but nothing drastic and nothing that made us feel the place was unclean or shabby. It felt warm and loved in, a place to curl up together and enjoy the sounds of the ocean and each others company.
Lorraine and Dennis were very helpful about local attractions and we'd suggest the swimming with turtles at Aweoweo Beach, snorkelling at Shark Cove, and sunset Beach. Everything is fairly close by.
Our experience here was wonderful and we'd definitely like to come back here, and would recommend to our friends and family. Thank you Lorraine and Dennis for letting us share a little piece of your paradise.
We had a great 3 day stay at lorraines bungalow . Checkin was easy and we found everything as described - in fact the space was larger than it looked in the pics. Position was great - right on the beach , the sound of the waves was great and there is nice swimming right out the front. Great bed and everything you need for a short stay including washer and dryer.
located about a 10min car ride to town there were plenty of options to eat and also explore. we also found Lorraine friendly and helpful - would stay again
It was absolutely perfect! This trip was originally supposed to be for a wedding which was cancelled. So I ended up going to Hawaii alone and doing my first ever solo vacation. I had the time of my life!
Lorraine greeted me as I pulled in from a brutal day of travel. She was so sweet and welcoming! She showed me around and then offered me a Mai Tai. It was delicious!!! We chatted for a while on the patio and then she left me to enjoy my vacation, but let me know that I could text or call her if I needed anything. I briefly met her husband Denis on my way out the next morning. Super nice guy and also very welcoming.
The pictures don't really do the views justice. They are stunning! I counted 10 steps from the patio to the gate that enters the beach. I thoroughly enjoyed having access to the house to refill drinks when I needed a break.
I felt so safe staying here. I was comfortable enough to sleep with the patio doors open to enjoy the breeze. Falling asleep every night listening to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach is something I will never forget. There is a full fridge and various ways to cook meals so I went to the grocery store.
The location is great! It is just a few minutes from both Haleiwa and Waialua which are great little towns with some really good restaurants and shopping. The North Shore is definitely a great place to go to relax. This was the perfect location for me and I hope to visit again! Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with me, Lorraine!
