Christo was the perfect host. He gave me detailed descriptions to find my way to his house. The house is spacious and neat. It has a balcony with a great view. The house is located in a nice neighborhood very close to the beach. I shared the apartment with to other very nice people. There were enough space to have a lot of private room and a large kitchen and living room to share. I thought it can't get any better, but then Christo came over and invited us for dinner in his house. He is a very entertaining and caretaking person. I had a great time.
Friendly and social environment with a great deck on canal! Kristo was wonderfully patient as a kite instructor
My girlfriend and I stayed with Ricardo for a week. We actually didn't get the water front room we thought we were getting. Instead we were put into a different room with a queen bed. The room was clean. The views from that side of the deck just looked out to the parking area and trees. The bed was noisy/squeeky. This is definitely not a place for a romantic get away, if you want privacy. However, the other guests in the house were very nice. We did encounter a cockroach in the bathroom the 2nd day then it came back a few days later. We managed to capture it and put it in the toilet. Doubtful its a cleanliness thing and more of an environment...warm and humid. There were also ants in the kitchen. We always cleaned up after ourselves but cleanliness is dependent on the other guests doing the same. The wifi barely worked if at all. I managed to get on a neighbors wifi instead most of the time and only from the bedroom. The views from the deck on the water side are nice, and the place is comfortable. I would stay here again with friends for a kite trip. Graham is a cool guy too. I liked him a lot. He was very helpful. I would rate the place as good for friends.
We were happy to have you over and I am glad you enjoyed your stay with Kite Club Hatteras.
I wish the internet connection issue was brought to our attention. We do support 3 routers and one of them is 10mb per second for heavy users. I am assuming the one in your house was down, so you were probably using the other unit’s internet.
As for the beds, our mattresses are very good quality, comfortable with good support, but yes I agree they are little noisy for some reason. After all we are upscale kiteboarding hostel.
I want to apologize for the bug problem. We addressed the problem so we got treatment same week.
This bugs are pretty common in the South, they are called palmetto bugs locally and they also fly, so they can come from everywhere if the windows/doors are open or people bring them with their stuff coming for outside. Anyway we live with them on the island and they show once in a while in the houses regardless of the cleanliness, and as you know we keep our place pretty spotless.
Anyway I just want to let you know that we have addressed the problem and will be happy to have you again :)
Thanks' a lot for the week... for Claire and me it was a first time using a share apartment but not the last one. We should be back next year .
Great place ,great location nice people everything was perfect .
My lesson with Graham was really enjoyable and fun I am a better ''kiter ''than when I came in .Would recommend the place with no hesitation !!!
Hope to see you in 2015!!!
Christo is such a great, laid back host! We had a wonderful time. The Water Front Room had a spectacular view. It was nice that it opened out onto the balcony to enjoy it even more. We would stay here again.
We were somewhat surprised when Christo told us to come up to introduced ourselves. It turned out to be a very nice and friendly surprise, he and some other guests were having a little grilling dinner/ party and we were invited. We had great conversations and the food were great. The guests were not too fond of Christo's choice of music, but we had a good laugh for it. The room was clean, people were super friendly and Avon is just a beautiful place. Overall, Christo is funny and friendly. I would recommend you guys to stay at his place and enjoy his hospitality.
We had a great stay at Christos apartment. There are huge rooms and you can decide wether to have a lot of privacy in a 2 person bedroom or take a 4 person bedroom.
In addition the appartment has a tremendous living room with a kitchen included.
Christo is also a very nice host who helps you with recommendations and gives you local tips if you need them.
Altogether highly recommended!

Christo has been kiteboarding for over nine years. He has ridden and taught in the US (North Carolina and California) – as well as in some great spots around the world, including Bulgaria, Spain, Dominican Republic, Panama, Mexico and Peru – but he will be the first to reassure you that the best wind for kiteboarding is at Cape Hatteras. This is why he started thinking about opening a kiteboarding school on the island as far back as 2008, and has now set up Kite Club Hatteras as an official school in Cape Hatteras. Christo has a proven record of taking students to the best and safest spots on the island and providing them with a complete kiteboarding learning experience, taking beginners from the basics to becoming independent riders. Christo was a self-taught rider and uses his personal learning experience alongside his professional training to decrease your learning curve and increase your fun.
