About This Listing
Fantastic, top-floor, two-bedroom apartment in a beautiful, old building in the very, very heart of Dublin City. Dublin City is quite literally at your fingertips! This is the best located Airbnb listing in Dublin - and that's no exaggeration.
Top-floor, TWO-BEDROOM apartment in an Edwardian building right in the middle of the Dublin city's old historic centre.
It has unique won't-find-anywhere-else views of Dublin Castle and City Hall, two of Dublin's most iconic historic landmarks. The building is on Dame Street in Dublin 2, and is just a couple of minutes (or less) walk from all of Dublin's historic, cultural, social and tourist attractions.
The apartment is full of history, tradition and character. It occupies the top floor of an old Edwardian building, located midway along Dame Street, which links Trinity College to Christ Church Cathedral.
As well as views over Dublin Castle and Dublin City Hall from the living room and one bedroom, the other bedroom looks west towards Christ Church Cathedral. Where else would you get it?
The apartment has been completely renovated in recent years (so has all the modern conveniences you could want, including fast WiFi internet connection, central heating, an electric shower and a fully-fitted kitchen), its original period features have been preserved (including solid oak wood flooring in the living room and bedrooms, granite stone flooring and a wonderful Belfast sink in the kitchen, and large sash windows in every room).
It has two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds, which can be combined if required), a decent-sized living room with a kitchen off and a bathroom.
Every room has large sash windows characteristic of the Edwardian era (early 1900s), so the apartment is full of natural light (if you're lucky, sunshine too!) from early in the morning until late in the evening.
Everything you might need (bed linen, towels and kitchen items) is provided, as well as a small library of books on Dublin. Free 30Mb Wifi.
You have access to everything and everywhere - it's all yours.
Interaction with Guests
I'll meet you when you arrive to say hello, give you keys, show you around the apartment, tell you what's what in the area and answer any questions. I'm Irish, though, so there'll be no hugging. After that, if you need anything or have any questions, you can phone or email me. Always available and happy to help!
Have a glance at a map of Dublin and you'll see that Dame Street is right in the centre of everything that Dublin has to offer. Trinity College is at one end of Dame Street (3 minute walk from the apartment) and Christ Church Cathedral is at the other (2 minute walk in the other direction). On one side is Dublin Castle and City Hall, and on the other is Temple Bar.
All other notable parts of the city – such as Grafton Street area, St Stephens Green, Merrion Square, O'Connell Street – are within a 10-15 minute walk.
As well as being immersed in Dublin's history and culture, you're surrounded by the best cafes, restaurants, pubs and shopping in Dublin.
One of the things that previous guests have all remarked on is that they didn't need to use public transport at all - no buses, no trains, no taxis. Very genuinely, you can walk anywhere in the city centre within a matter of minutes. Dublin City is quite literally on your doorstep!
However, if you want to travel further afield, there are 3 taxi ranks on Dame Street itself (mere seconds away); there's a Dublin Bikes station across the street; dozens of bus routes within 50 metres; Jervis LUAS (tram) station is 5 minutes walk, and Stephen's Green LUAS (tram) station is 8 minutes walk; and Tara Street and Pearse Street DART (train) stations are both less than 10 minutes walk. If you're looking to travel out of Dublin, you can be in Connolly Station, Heuston Station or Busaras within 10-15 minutes. It's also a 2 minute walk from the Aircoach's Trinity College/College Green stop (Aircoach is an express airport-to-city bus service, which runs every 10 minutes and will get you to or from the airport in just 20 minutes).
Other Things to Note
Ordinarily, the minimum booking is 2 or 3 nights (depending on whether it's a midweek or weekend booking). However, I'll always try to facilitate one-night bookings. Again, just ask!
Standard check-in is at any arranged time from 3pm-9pm. If you require a check-in outside of these hours, please let me know prior to submitting a reservation request. Standard check-out is before 10am on the day of departure.
Please note that the weekly rate does not apply for special events or holidays, including St Patrick's Festival week.
This is a residential building so please be considerate and respectful towards neighbours - this includes all the usual stuff but particularly noise, especially in common areas (entrance, stairs, hallway etc) between 10pm-8am).
Please don't smoke - neither in the apartment itself nor anywhere else in the building. Hanging out a window isn't an acceptable solution, I'm afraid. The only option is to exit the building and smoke on the street.
Please don't engage in any sort of behavior or activity that could or might cause damage, injury or anything else that we'd all probably prefer didn't happen. If you break or damage something, please inform me immediately - and it will have to be paid for.
Please don't invite anyone - whether known to you or not - into the apartment without first clearing it with me. Only individuals named on the original reservation can stay in the apartment.
Guests are advised to have their own personal policy of insurance in case of accidents, personal injury or loss/damage to property. No responsibility is accepted by the host for any losses, damage or personal injury sustained by any uninsured guest during their stay. By making your booking you agree to these terms and conditions.
Location was great! Right on the outskirts of temple bar. Bus stops right outside the door and a very easy walk to Trinity college and Grafton St. Apartment is quaint and suited our needs. It was a bit noisey at night due to being on a main St. but location was key.
They say location is one of the key elements in property and that is true with this apartment! Clean, we'll presented and walking distance to most local points of interest!
Garret supplied a huge amount of information prior to our arrival which allowed us to experience Dublin a lot easier and with more fun!
A small cosy apartment, run well, looked after and more than suitable for 4 people! Would highly recommend to travellers !
Garrett met us on the street right outside his rental and helped us find the door, showed us up to his apartment and got us settled in. The location was great, right on Dame street and the photos outside the windows are exactly as shown in the listing. However, the photo of the bathroom is not the bathroom in Garrett's apartment; the actual bathroom is not nearly that nice. Some of the furniture in the photos are no longer there either.
If you are looking to be right in the middle of the action in the Temple Bar area on Dame Street within walking distance of Dublin Castle, the Guinness Storehouse, the Jameson distillery, Trinity College and numerous pubs and restaurants this is the place for you. Just note that it is small, there is no TV in the apartment and, overall, it could be cleaner.
This apartment was perfect. It was close to the pubs, breweries, and is right across the street from the Dublin castle. Also the little restaurant downstairs makes the best scones. Garret was great and gave us a list of all the good restaurants, bars, breweries and other things we could see. We would definitely stay here again if we come to Dublin.
Location is fantastic. Perfect for site seeing, restaurants and shopping around Temple Bar area. The apartment was very comfortable. We loved watching the daily and nightly life go by from the living room windows. Garrett was very informative and very welcoming. We highly recommend Garrett's apartment for any small group who would like to stay in central Dublin.
We really appreciated an earlier than scheduled check in time, Garrett responded to many emails and assisted with planning our stay in Dublin, the very central location was convenient for our three nights there, and the apartment was clean and cozy.
The Quenn of tarts is right outside the door and has excellent baked goods.
About the Host, Garrett
A native Dubliner back living in Dublin after stints in New York, London and the West of Ireland. Fond of travelling but always happy to get back to Dublin. The apartment I have listed is right in the very centre of Dublin City - very genuinely, it couldn't be any more central; the centre of the centre, if you like.
