About This Listing
Fantastic, top-floor, two-bedroom apartment in a beautiful, old building in the very, very heart of Dublin City. Dublin City is quite literally at your fingertips! This is the best located Airbnb listing in Dublin - and that's no exaggeration.
Top-floor, TWO-BEDROOM apartment in an Edwardian building right in the middle of the Dublin city's old historic centre.
It has unique won't-find-anywhere-else views of Dublin Castle and City Hall, two of Dublin's most iconic historic landmarks. The building is on Dame Street in Dublin 2, and is just a couple of minutes (or less) walk from all of Dublin's historic, cultural, social and tourist attractions.
The apartment is full of history, tradition and character. It occupies the top floor of an old Edwardian building, located midway along Dame Street, which links Trinity College to Christ Church Cathedral.
As well as views over Dublin Castle and Dublin City Hall from the living room and one bedroom, the other bedroom looks west towards Christ Church Cathedral. Where else would you get it?
The apartment has been completely renovated in recent years (so has all the modern conveniences you could want, including fast WiFi internet connection, central heating, an electric shower and a fully-fitted kitchen), its original period features have been preserved (including solid oak wood flooring in the living room and bedrooms, granite stone flooring and a wonderful Belfast sink in the kitchen, and large sash windows in every room).
It has two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds, which can be combined if required), a decent-sized living room with a kitchen off and a bathroom.
Every room has large sash windows characteristic of the Edwardian era (early 1900s), so the apartment is full of natural light (if you're lucky, sunshine too!) from early in the morning until late in the evening.
Everything you might need (bed linen, towels and kitchen items) is provided, as well as a small library of books on Dublin. Free 30Mb Wifi.
You have access to everything and everywhere - it's all yours.
Interaction with Guests
I'll meet you when you arrive to say hello, give you keys, show you around the apartment, tell you what's what in the area and answer any questions. I'm Irish, though, so there'll be no hugging. After that, if you need anything or have any questions, you can phone or email me. Always available and happy to help!
Have a glance at a map of Dublin and you'll see that Dame Street is right in the centre of everything that Dublin has to offer. Trinity College is at one end of Dame Street (3 minute walk from the apartment) and Christ Church Cathedral is at the other (2 minute walk in the other direction). On one side is Dublin Castle and City Hall, and on the other is Temple Bar.
All other notable parts of the city – such as Grafton Street area, St Stephens Green, Merrion Square, O'Connell Street – are within a 10-15 minute walk.
As well as being immersed in Dublin's history and culture, you're surrounded by the best cafes, restaurants, pubs and shopping in Dublin.
One of the things that previous guests have all remarked on is that they didn't need to use public transport at all - no buses, no trains, no taxis. Very genuinely, you can walk anywhere in the city centre within a matter of minutes. Dublin City is quite literally on your doorstep!
However, if you want to travel further afield, there are 3 taxi ranks on Dame Street itself (mere seconds away); there's a Dublin Bikes station across the street; dozens of bus routes within 50 metres; Jervis LUAS (tram) station is 5 minutes walk, and Stephen's Green LUAS (tram) station is 8 minutes walk; and Tara Street and Pearse Street DART (train) stations are both less than 10 minutes walk. If you're looking to travel out of Dublin, you can be in Connolly Station, Heuston Station or Busaras within 10-15 minutes. It's also a 2 minute walk from the Aircoach's Trinity College/College Green stop (Aircoach is an express airport-to-city bus service, which runs every 10 minutes and will get you to or from the airport in just 20 minutes).
Other Things to Note
Ordinarily, the minimum booking is 2 or 3 nights (depending on whether it's a midweek or weekend booking). However, I'll always try to facilitate one-night bookings. Again, just ask!
Standard check-in is at any arranged time from 3pm-9pm. If you require a check-in outside of these hours, please let me know prior to submitting a reservation request. Standard check-out is before 10am on the day of departure.
Please note that the weekly rate does not apply for special events or holidays, including St Patrick's Festival week.
This is a residential building so please be considerate and respectful towards neighbours - this includes all the usual stuff but particularly noise, especially in common areas (entrance, stairs, hallway etc) between 10pm-8am).
Please don't smoke - neither in the apartment itself nor anywhere else in the building. Hanging out a window isn't an acceptable solution, I'm afraid. The only option is to exit the building and smoke on the street.
Please don't engage in any sort of behavior or activity that could or might cause damage, injury or anything else that we'd all probably prefer didn't happen. If you break or damage something, please inform me immediately - and it will have to be paid for.
Please don't invite anyone - whether known to you or not - into the apartment without first clearing it with me. Only individuals named on the original reservation can stay in the apartment.
Guests are advised to have their own personal policy of insurance in case of accidents, personal injury or loss/damage to property. No responsibility is accepted by the host for any losses, damage or personal injury sustained by any uninsured guest during their stay. By making your booking you agree to these terms and conditions.
This is a great little spot in a fantastic location. Perfect if you want to enjoy sight seeing and pub hopping. Garrett and his wife were super accommodating and made sure we got in a little early to leave luggage and shake off jet lag. Will definitely recommend, and hopefully return. Cheers Garrett!
Garrett's apartment was everything noted in the other reviews and more. The location is ideal, you can walk to all of the major sites in the city and tons of restaurants and bars. We were traveling with our two young girls (infant and toddler) and everyone one was able to have their own room since Garrett got a portable crib for us in the living room. We had an afternoon flight and he was kind enough to let us store some luggage so we could explore the city. I cannot recommend it enough and don't know why anyone, especially a family, would stay anywhere else in Dublin.
What a lovely place, great location, clean, stylish and all arranged at the very last minute. Thank you, we will come again someday x
Garrett was very good at communication. The information about local facilities, bars, restaurants shopping was excellent. The apartment is in a fantastic location no matter your reason for being in Dublin. For most people the apartment will only be a place to sleep, it is fairly basic but has all you need for a short stay.
Perfect location, with a great view! I highly recommend it!
Wowie Zowie! I took my two teenagers on a long weekend trip to Ireland. We felt welcome from the moment we stepped into Dublin! This feeling of friendliness and excellence only improved on arrival to Garrett's apartment. The apartment is exactly as described with an outstanding location for touring, eating and having fun in Dublin. It is very clean with lots of extras in the kitchen in the form of teas and coffees and you will feel safe and secure. Garrett made us feel so welcome and helped with suggestions on restaurants which turned out to be a place with phenomenal food. In all directions from the apartment are shopping and eateries with the Dublin Castle available for a view. Garrett is an awesome host and his apartment is a gem in the center of the city. We will be Back!
About the Host, Garrett
A native Dubliner back living in Dublin after stints in New York, London and the West of Ireland. Fond of travelling but always happy to get back to Dublin. The apartment I have listed is right in the very centre of Dublin City - very genuinely, it couldn't be any more central; the centre of the centre, if you like.
