Apartment - Entire home/apt · Dame Street, Dublin, Dublin, Ireland

Fantastic, top-floor, two-bedroom apartment in a beautiful, old building in the very, very heart of Dublin City. Dublin City is quite literally at your fingertips!

The Space

This is a top-floor, TWO-BEDROOM apartment in an Edwardian building in the very, very centre of the Dublin city's old historic centre.

It has unique and stunning views across to Dublin Castle and City Hall. The building itself is on Dame Street in Dublin 2, and is just a couple of minutes (or less) walk from most of Dublin's main historic, cultural, social and tourist attractions.

The apartment is full of history and character. It occupies the top floor of an old Edwardian building, located midway along Dame Street, which links Trinity College to Christ Church Cathedral.

As well as views over Dublin Castle and Dublin City Hall from the living room and one bedroom, the other bedroom looks west towards Christ Church Cathedral. Where else would you get it?

The apartment has been completely renovated in recent years (so has all the modern conveniences you could want, including fast WiFi internet connection, central heating, an electric shower and a fully-fitted kitchen), its original period features have been preserved (including solid oak wood flooring in the living room and bedrooms, granite stone flooring and a wonderful Belfast sink in the kitchen, and large sash windows in every room).

It has two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds, which can be combined if required), a decent-sized living room with a kitchen off and a bathroom.

Every room has large sash windows characteristic of the Edwardian era (early 1900s), so the apartment is full of natural light (if you're lucky, sunshine too!) from early in the morning until late in the evening.

Everything you might need (bed linen, towels and kitchen items) is provided, as well as a small library of books on Dublin. Free 30Mb Wifi.

Guest Access

You have access to everything and everywhere - it's all yours.

Interaction with Guests

I'll meet you when you arrive to give you keys, show you around the apartment, tell you what's what in the area and answer any questions. I'm Irish, though, so there'll be no hugging. After that, if you need anything or have any questions, you can phone or email me.

The Neighborhood

Have a glance at a map of Dublin and you'll see that Dame Street is right in the centre of everything that Dublin has to offer. Trinity College is at one end of Dame Street (3 minute walk from the apartment) and Christ Church Cathedral is at the other (2 minute walk in the other direction). On one side is Dublin Castle and City Hall, and on the other is Temple Bar.

All other notable parts of the city – such as Grafton Street area, St Stephens Green, Merrion Square, O'Connell Street – are within a 10-15 minute walk.

As well as being immersed in Dublin's history and culture, you're surrounded by the best cafes, restaurants, pubs and shopping in Dublin.

Getting around

One of the things that previous guests have all remarked on is that they didn't need to use public transport at all - no buses, no trains, no taxis. Very genuinely, you can walk anywhere in the city centre within a matter of minutes. Dublin City is quite literally on your doorstep!

However, if you want to travel further afield, there are 3 taxi ranks on Dame Street itself (mere seconds away), there's a Dublin Bikes station across the street, dozens of bus routes within 50 metres, Jervis LUAS (tram) station is 5 minutes walk, Stephen's Green LUAS (tram) station is 8 minutes walk, and Tara Street and Pearse Street DART (train) stations are both less than 10 minutes walk. If you're looking to travel out of Dublin, you can be in Connolly Station, Heuston Station or Busaras within 10-15 minutes.

Other Things to Note

Ordinarily, the minimum booking is two nights for midweek bookings and three nights for weekend bookings (i.e. if the booking includes a Friday or Saturday night). However, I'll always try to facilitate one-night bookings whenever possible. Again, just ask!

  • A really fantastic apartment - with really fantastic hosts.

Garrett and Ronan were very helpful, proactive and were on hand for the stupid moment I locked myself out on a Friday night! I couldn't have asked for more.

    Thanks guys!

  • The Flat was in a brilliant location, it was very clean and well stocked with lots of essentials. Its within walking to distance to everything we wanted to see, very quiet too, despite its central location. Garrett was a brilliant host, he sent us lots of information before we came, including very clear directions. He met us at the Flat on time, and was very accommodating with our request for late check out.

I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Dublin - a really brilliant host and a lovely place to stay.

  • The apartment was a very nice two bedroom place, in a great location of center city Dublin. It was within walking distance of several local places of interest, including churches, the Guinness Storehouse (about a 15-20 minute walk), of course many great pubs and restaurants in the Temple Bar area, and even about 15 minutes from the Jameson Distillery (across the Liffey), if you are feeling adventurous. The accommodations were great, Garrett was very accessible and getting checked in was no problem, and checking out was as easy as leaving the keys on the table. My stay was very smooth, and my fellow travelers enjoyed it as well. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you are in the area, for the reasons I mentioned.

    Would highly recommend.

  • This was my first airbnb booking and stay. I couldn't have chosen a better location. Everything we wanted to see was in easy walking distance. The apartment was clean, bright and had a wonderful view of Dublin Castle and City Hall. All the amenities we needed were there. Garrett was a wonderful host. He answered all my questions and went the extra mile to share information on where to eat and places to see. All in all a wonderful experience.

  • Garrett thank you for their hospitality. His apartment, very well located in the center of Dublin, helped our tour of the city and its beautiful monuments. We had a very pleasant stay with family!

    A next time!

  • The apartment is perfectly located, very close to the city center and temple bar and next to the bus stop of Airlink 747, arriving from and departing to the Airport.
The lovely apartment has two double bedrooms, a bath room with electric shower, a small living room and a kitchen equipped with coffee machine, water heater, cooking stove and washing machine - suits perfectly for four people.
Garrett and his brother are very friendly, always willing to help and easy going. It was a real pleasure to stay here!

  • We LOVED our stay in Dublin at Garrett and Ronan's apartment. We stayed 2 nights over a weekend in January for a get together of old school friends - we now live in Birmingham, London and Edinburgh and so Dublin seemed a fun place for us all to go, as we were going to have to travel wherever we met... And we LOVED Dublin!

Garrett was very approachable and responsive during the booking process and in the lead up to arrival. He sent some excellent PDFs with all the info you could possibly require on arrival instructions and recommendations for eating and drinking. We really appreciated them!

The apartment itself is wonderful. Very tastefully decorated, it has modern fittings and appliances whilst still retaining its traditional character. We particularly liked the open plan kitchen / dining / living area which makes for a very sociable room. From this room you have fantastic views across the road and through to the castle and city hall. Stunning! The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. WIFI was fast, the shower was powerful and hot and our favourite feature was the De'Longhi coffee machine!

Our only minor panic was that there was no corkscrew - a small problem on a girls' weekend - only when we looked a bit closer, we found two! Very well equipped kitchen.

The area is wonderful... Close to Temple Bar but also to other quieter places. We enjoyed pizza and meatballs at Skinflint which is a funky place just literally 3 mins walk. We also headed to Pitt Bros BBQ for some quick pulled pork. There are so many bars and restaurants that you could stay a long time and your tastebuds would never be bored! Recommend using groupon or another deals / voucher website as we were lucky to find really cheap deal for a city bus tour!

Definitely plan to return to this wonderful apartment and recommend it to others - clean, characterful, with charismatic host! Thank you

  • One couldn't ask for a better location than this spot, located on Temple Bar, steps from Dublin Castle (seriously, about 40 steps) and just down the street from Trinity College. Garrett is a fantastic host and a super valuable resource for anyone visiting Dublin, and our entire stay was delightful.

A 30-something Dubliner back living in Dublin after stints in New York, London and Mayo (in the West of Ireland). Sharing life with one big person and two little people. Fond of travelling but always happy to get back to Dublin (not a perfect city, but a pretty great city). Favourite foreign cities are New York, Barcelona, London, Seville (where my partner's from) and Copenhagen. Believe that everyone should experience Dublin at least 8 times in their life. The apartment I have listed is right in the very centre of Dublin City - it couldn't be any more central; the centre of the centre, if you like.
