Fantastic, top-floor, two-bedroom apartment in a beautiful, old building in the very, very heart of Dublin City. Dublin City is quite literally at your fingertips!

The Space

This is a top-floor, TWO-BEDROOM apartment in an Edwardian building right in the middle of the Dublin city's old historic centre.

It has unique won't-find-anywhere-else views of Dublin Castle and City Hall, two of Dublin's most iconic historic landmarks. The building itself is on Dame Street in Dublin 2, and is just a couple of minutes (or less) walk from most of Dublin's main historic, cultural, social and tourist attractions.

The apartment is full of history and character. It occupies the top floor of an old Edwardian building, located midway along Dame Street, which links Trinity College to Christ Church Cathedral.

As well as views over Dublin Castle and Dublin City Hall from the living room and one bedroom, the other bedroom looks west towards Christ Church Cathedral. Where else would you get it?

The apartment has been completely renovated in recent years (so has all the modern conveniences you could want, including fast WiFi internet connection, central heating, an electric shower and a fully-fitted kitchen), its original period features have been preserved (including solid oak wood flooring in the living room and bedrooms, granite stone flooring and a wonderful Belfast sink in the kitchen, and large sash windows in every room).

It has two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds, which can be combined if required), a decent-sized living room with a kitchen off and a bathroom.

Every room has large sash windows characteristic of the Edwardian era (early 1900s), so the apartment is full of natural light (if you're lucky, sunshine too!) from early in the morning until late in the evening.

Everything you might need (bed linen, towels and kitchen items) is provided, as well as a small library of books on Dublin. Free 30Mb Wifi.

Guest Access

You have access to everything and everywhere - it's all yours.

Interaction with Guests

I'll meet you when you arrive to say hello, give you keys, show you around the apartment, tell you what's what in the area and answer any questions. I'm Irish, though, so there'll be no hugging. After that, if you need anything or have any questions, you can phone or email me. Always available and happy to help!

The Neighborhood

Have a glance at a map of Dublin and you'll see that Dame Street is right in the centre of everything that Dublin has to offer. Trinity College is at one end of Dame Street (3 minute walk from the apartment) and Christ Church Cathedral is at the other (2 minute walk in the other direction). On one side is Dublin Castle and City Hall, and on the other is Temple Bar.

All other notable parts of the city – such as Grafton Street area, St Stephens Green, Merrion Square, O'Connell Street – are within a 10-15 minute walk.

As well as being immersed in Dublin's history and culture, you're surrounded by the best cafes, restaurants, pubs and shopping in Dublin.

Getting around

One of the things that previous guests have all remarked on is that they didn't need to use public transport at all - no buses, no trains, no taxis. Very genuinely, you can walk anywhere in the city centre within a matter of minutes. Dublin City is quite literally on your doorstep!

However, if you want to travel further afield, there are 3 taxi ranks on Dame Street itself (mere seconds away); there's a Dublin Bikes station across the street; dozens of bus routes within 50 metres; Jervis LUAS (tram) station is 5 minutes walk, and Stephen's Green LUAS (tram) station is 8 minutes walk; and Tara Street and Pearse Street DART (train) stations are both less than 10 minutes walk. If you're looking to travel out of Dublin, you can be in Connolly Station, Heuston Station or Busaras within 10-15 minutes. It's also a 2 minute walk from the Aircoach's Trinity College/College Green stop (Aircoach is an express airport-to-city bus service, which runs every 10 minutes and will get you to or from the airport in just 20 minutes).

Other Things to Note

Ordinarily, the minimum booking is 2 or 3 nights (depending on whether it's a midweek or weekend booking. However, I'll always try to facilitate one-night bookings. Again, just ask!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Was een fijne appartement in een zeer mooie buurt. Was heel schoon en in het centrum van de tempel bar.

  • We stayed here for a week and the experience was exactly as advertised. Garrett was quite friendly and accommodating. For example, he let us check in early to accommodate an earlier flight. The flat was in a good location, clean, spacious, and the wifi worked brilliantly (which isn't always the case). The flat is located in a convenient, albeit noisy, part of Dublin and this allowed for easy transport anywhere in the city, with good restaurants close by. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Great location and apartment. Spent a few nights at the place and enjoyed the space greatly. Very comfortable and clean. Garrett and his brother were on time and it was everything I expected it to be

  • Nice and clean apartment. Location right at the city center. We spent an excellent weekend in Dublin. Garrett sent us very useful information prior to our trip. He and his brother Randon were very friendly and helpful hosts - thanks!

  • Right in the centre of the city, the apartment is within walking distance of all the sights in Dublin. I didn't meet Garrett but he was always quick to respond to my emails and he did his best to accommodate my early checkin request (even though I asked him about it only a couple of days before we arrived!). The apartment is clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. If I return to Dublin, I'll definitely stay here again.

  • Great stay in Dublin at Garrett's apartment. The location is amazing - right in the thick of it! The apartment was well furnished, functional and convenient. It was actually roomier than we expected. We loved the great information provided regarding restaurants, shops and things to do. We would stay here again when in Dublin.

  • Great apartment, fabulous location and wonderful host! The only down side would be because of its fabulous location in the center of everything it can be a tad bit noisy at night, but really a small concession which can be easily resolved with ear plugs. I cannot say enough nice things about Garrett. He was very accommodating and went out of his way to make our short stay in Dublin as easy and enjoyable as possible.

  • We had a wonderful stay in Dublin, Garrett's flat was perfect; well-stocked with amenities, brilliant location and so cosy! Garrett was a great host, and very accommodating when we arrived a bit later than planned. He offered us recommendations and was very flexible with our check out time. Even though we only stayed for a couple of nights, we loved the flat and would definitely return!

  • Garrett was a wonderful host, it was obvious that he has a lot of experience renting out the apartment. The apartment was clean and ready for our arrival and he took the time to explain everything. The neighborhood is right in the middle of Dublin. It is a short walk to most places and you are surrounded by both history and nightlife. Garrett provided us with excellent recommendations and we discovered some excellent places on our own. We travelled as a family four and found the apartment to be much better for us than a hotel. Dublin City Centre is high energy. We enjoyed jumping in and being a part of that energy.

  • Garrett and his brother Ronan were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, even leaving a present in the flat for my dad, whose 80th birthday we were celebrating. Their place is cosy, tastefully decorated and perfectly situated - in the centre of the centre - with great views over to Dublin Castle. The materials sent to me by Garrett - lists of the best pubs, cafes and restaurants nearby, with emphasis on places off the tourist trail - gave us a terrific insider's angle on the city. I would without hesitation recommend this listing and its hosts.

Trinity College Dublin and London School of Economics
A 30-something Dubliner back living in Dublin after stints in New York, London and Mayo (in the West of Ireland). Sharing life with one big person and two little people. Fond of travelling but always happy to get back to Dublin (not a perfect city, but a pretty great city). Favourite foreign cities are New York, Barcelona, London, Seville (where my partner's from) and Copenhagen. Believe that everyone should experience Dublin at least 8 times in their life. The apartment I have listed is right in the very centre of Dublin City - it couldn't be any more central; the centre of the centre, if you like.
