My wife and i had a wonderful time at The Dukes Folly, the only sad part of our weekend was when we had to to leave ,my family lived in the house many years ago and my host Trisha took great interest in my photos and stories i had about the house ,we had a tour of the house room by room, the atomsphere is very relaxed and open,we enjoyed sitting in the front room on our own with the open fire burning bright, our sleeping area right up in the attic space was clean and our bed was so comfortable, the house was very quiet and occasionally we heard the hoot of an owl in the woods, outside at night was almost in complete darkness with just an outside light ,we could see the stars ..
During the day we went for a walk ,Sherwood forest surrounds our lodgings ,a chance to take many photos of the house and forest, next time we will take our bikes as its on the national cycle route Lindsay and i will be visiting next year hopefully with the weather being warmer will appreciate the beautiful outdoors
Trish was a lovely host. She was very accommodating of our needs and was on call to answer all our question both before we arrived and during our stay. The Duke's Folly is the perfect place for a country getaway and Trish has done a wonderful job of making it cosy and inviting. The photos here really don't do it justice. I would definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay on the edge of Sherwood Forest! As other reviewers have noted, Trish and her family are incredibly welcoming. our room (and the whole house) was tidy, clean, and comfortable. The Archway House and the property it sits on are truly unique, and I'm thrilled we were able to experience it - the surrounding countryside gives you the sense of being immersed in a pastoral painting. The time and care that Trish and Ricardo have put into restoring and maintaining the property is evident, inside and out. It was a pleasure to chat with Trish and breakfast time, as she was full of information about the area and gave us tips on which hiking trails to explore in Sherwood.
A trip to Sherwood Forest is not complete without staying in this completely "in-character" location. The location, rooms and building are totally part of the Sherwood experience. Even so the room was comfortable and spacious with our own private en-suite. Everything was clean with comfortable beds and plenty of room. To wander around the building and grounds was a great experience.
Trish was a perfect host who made us welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. An enjoyable and satisfying breakfast; and forest walks with Ben the friendly "house pet" was all we could ask for and I would happily check availability on a return visit to Sherwood.
Thanks Trish for making our stay in Sherwood so enjoyable.
Absolutely perfect stay at Dukes Folly. Trish was so kind and I'd highly recommend anyone to stay there! We LOVE Max the dog he made our stay memorable! Great location for us to walk to the gigs at Sherwood Pines. Then place is unique, beautiful & homely! If you are visiting the UK from overseas you will also love it here seeking out Robin Hood & his merry men! Have a fabulous stay. We will definitely be seeing you soon. Thanks for a superb weekend x
We had an amazing experience chasing down Robin Hood and visiting Wayne Manor on a weekend getting out of London. In the end the highlight of the trip was certainly Trish and Ricardo's amazing space. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Hi ,We are an Italian/English couple rattling around an ancient folly that we have spent 35yrs renovating in Sherwood Forest .Riccardo is into world music and Trish into natural ways of healing.
