About this listing
A beautiful renovated apartment over two floors in the heart of Rovinj old town. Ideal for couples, but can accommodate one more on a pull-out bed. It has stunning views over the rooftops, a small terrace, all amenities and is 5 mins walk to the sea.
Our apartment is located on Rovinj's famour Grisia Street, in the heart of Rovinj's old town, with its' numerous bars and restaurants.
The flat is over two floors and our unique position affords captivating views across the terracotta rooftops and chimneys. From our small terrace you look straight up at the 18th century Venetian tower of St Euphemia.
The apartment is over 200 years old, and we fully renovated the property when we purchased it a few years ago, maintaining its special character, while adding modern conveniences. The two small alcoves on the lower floor are actually 'gold holes' put in many years ago for former residents to hide their valuables.
The sea is less than 5 minutes walk through the warren of alleyways.
Our apartment is best suited to couples, although our pullout bed downstairs can accommodate an additional guest. Our minimum stay from June to September in general 7 nights, but we will consider shorter stays which will incur an additional cleaning charge.
You will be able to hire the entire apartment for your stay here.
As the apartment is located in the heart of the old town, it is not directly accessible by car. However, we can arrange different luggage transport options for guests if you so require. The closest parking is approximately 300 metres away. There is a short walk uphill on a cobbled street to reach our apartment The apartment does not have wheelchair access.
Interaction with guests
We work closely with a tourist agency in Rovinj and through them we can arrange any additional services that you require, including car and bicycle hire and a variety of day trips.
Day trips can include boat excursions around the islands, visits to picturesque Istrian medieval hilltop villages, Pula with its' magnificent Roman amphitheatre and Venice.
Rovinj / Rovigno has a wealth of features to suit all tastes. You can swim off the rocks in crystal clear waters, stroll around the charming working harbour of fishing boats or cycle along the coast for many miles around the trails of the national park. There is also a tennis school and a luxurious wellness spa.
The town has many excellent restaurants that present the unique Croatian-Italian cuisine of Istria, combining Adriatic seafood with the truffles and other delicacies of inland Istria. Meals can be complemented by the excellent local wines such as Malvazija and home-made grappa.
We have included our own 'mini-guide' for guests in the apartment, listing our favourite restaurants, cafes and bars, but Tipico restaurant, on Grisia Street just below the apartment, is our our favourite and now No.2 on Trip Advisor for Rovinj.
For a sunset drink there are a number of bars when you can sit on the rocks overlooking the sea, where you may also spot dolphins if you are lucky!
Rovinj old town is accessed by foot, but there is parking nearby, and you can hire bicycles or take a ferry to explore the nearby area.
Other things to note
It is easy to get to Rovinj by car, plane or sea. Nearby Pula airport is a 30 minute drive from Rovinj and there are numerous flights in summer. Trieste airport is also only a 90 minute drive away.
Rovinj can also be reached by hydrofoil from Venice, which drops passengers at a terminal 5 minutes walk from our apartment. Venice can be reached by air from many cities making a combined holiday a very attractive possibility.
The old town of Rovinj is car-less and reaching the apartment involves a short walk up a cobbled street and there are also two flights of stairs to get to the apartment.
The apartment has a TV that can be used to watch DVDs but is not connected to TV channels - this is because we do not want a satellite dish to spoil Rovinj's beautiful skyline.
Please note that in accordance with Croatian law there is a tourist tax that is paid by each visitor to Croatia. The fee is between 4.50 and 7 kunas per person per day depending on the season. Under 12s are free, and persons from 12 to 18 years old pay 50%.
We do not allow pets in the apartment and please do not smoke (although you can smoke from our rear terrace).

As a courtesy to our neighbours, please minimise noise on the downstairs floor after 10pm in the evening, and do not use the washing machine after 9pm.
Katie and Andy are from Edinburgh and London - they fell in love with Rovinj while working in the region, and it remains their favourite place to relax and unwind by the sea.
