Interaction with Guests
I come by several times a week days to look after the house. If you need me send me a text via airbnb and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Check-in is 3:00 pm, check-out is 11:00 a.m.
The wide space on the left side of the driveway will hold 2 diagonally parked cars. You may park there or on the gravel along the front of the fence. The space in front of the garage belongs to the upstairs tenants, please do not park there or block the driveway.
You are sharing the house with Paula and other airbnb folks and maybe a dog or 2. There are tenants in the apartment over the garage.
Please clean up after yourself, put dishes in the dishwasher, help with taking out trash and recycle. Trash pickup is Wednesday morning, feel free to take the barrel to the curb.
Keep the kitchen clean so others can use it. That includes washing the pots, knives, utensils and wiping down the stove, cutting board and counters.
Keep the bathroom clean.
The broom is in the hall closet when the floor needs to be swept.
Please read the little notes posted in the house.
You'll find dishes in the china hutch; coffee cups, extra glasses in the little kitchen cabinets. There's coffee and mini-moos in the fridge, sugar and tea on the counter.
Turn off appliances when you are done with them.
Feel free to put groceries in the fridge and the guest cupboard.
Refrain from burning candles, incense or anything flammable.
Quiet time (talk low and walk softly) 10 pm to 8 a.m. unless everyone in the house wants to stay up late. Last one to bed please turn off porch light.
Please check with me before bringing other people to my home.
Conserve water and power, they are precious resources.
In warm weather, please open the windows at night to cool the house, close them in the morning before it gets hot. There is a heavy curtain by the dining room window to block the intense morning sun on hot days.
The living room thermostat is automatic, use up/down arrows if you need some heat/cooling outside the scheduled times but please be conservative. DO NOT press "hold".
Close the windows if the AC is on!! When in doubt press the "run" button and it will do what it's supposed to do.
No drugs. No smoking. Light alcohol use OK.
We welcome dogs who are friendly, well behaved and pick up their poop in the yard AND in the neighborhood. No dogs on the furniture please. If you need a doggie sheet to protect the bed there should be one or two on the top shelf of the hall closet.
Cats please stay off the counters and tables.
Robyn is a down-to-earth and welcoming host - explains any details needed and let's you get on with your own plans. The Cloister is fine for a single person, and my dog was happy to be there.
As always, I appreciate the simplicity and quiet of the Cloister, and love the heated mattress. I appreciate that things are labeled (cups, trash, etc.) and it was easy to make tea, store a few things in the fridge, etc.
The internet wasn't working when I got there (the great internet connection was one of the highlights of my last stay), so I reset the router. I appreciated that router was easy-to-find and accessible - and especially appreciated that you had an ethernet cord attached to it so it was easy to test.
The Cloister was great. I stayed two nights while doing a workshop at The Asheville Yoga Center. The location was really convenient for getting there, an easy straight drive down the road about 10 min. and also super easy to get to downtown. The house and the room were very clean. Robyn was out of town, but was easy to contact. The system she has in place for getting keys made showing up without anyone there not a problem at all. The room is simple with a comfortable twin bed and perfect for the value. Parking is easy and secure. The house is set up very well with things you might need, and there is a lot of available space for unpacking. I would definitely stay there again. Paula who lives in the house more permanently was super friendly and very respectful. There is a rental space attached to the back of the house. From the room you can hear those tenants a bit, but it wasn't disturbing.
Easy check in, nice neighborhood for walking around, convenient location, and the space was really nice and sweet. I'd stay here again.
It got a little cold in the room during my winter stay.
Robyn was a very welcoming host, who made sure the unit and the house were very clean and comfortable. The unit was charming. This was my first AirBnb experience and I was pleasantly surprised with how wonderful the stay was, especially considering the low cost.
I would definitely recommend the room for future guests.
Robyn's house was very cozy and welcoming. She provided detailed directions about how to get in, soft jersey sheets, a water glass by the bedside, and plenty of information about local attractions and service providers. The location was perfect, and everything was great. I will certainly consider staying here again! I also really appreciated that she let me know the names of the other folks who were staying in the house and that the parking space she has reserved (and in which she asks guests not to park) was actually going to be available during my stay.

About the Host, Robyn
I enjoy community, domestic life, dancing, vintage stuff, textiles, mountains, rivers, gardens, cats, other people's dogs, adventure, the Caribbean, cooking, eating, games, funky art, funky artists, yard sales, growers' markets, fireflies.
I think about how things work, how systems interconnect, cause and effect. I have million dollar ideas and don't develop them.
I like to have a purpose or a project, can't go somewhere new just to be a tourist. During leisure time I like to read a good book, play Bananagrams or watch something off-beat.
My hosting style is casual and tidy (I know, it's an enigma). Come in, make yourself comfortable, explore the kitchen and commons so you know where to find things. Feel free to turn on the roku box and watch Netflix or Hulu or enjoy Pandora radio. I'm living a busy life but I love to meet new people and connect. I usually get over to the house for a while every day to do chores and check on things.
