This lovely and uniquely designed house is on Terrell Hill, one of the highest points in Austin. Its use of raw materials, open floorplan and natural light make it filled with good energy! With all the metal, wood, glass, and stone this house has some serious....Flow. With its fair share of luxurious bits thrown in.
House history: Originally built in 1964 by the captain of the fire department, it has been recently remodeled in 2005 by Austin architect Bercy Chen.
The centerpiece of the house is the living space and the huge open kitchen. Here you'll find a large comfy sectional, armchair, flatscreen TV, retro dinette, kitchen table and every conceivable appliance a true chef, seasoned vacationer, or coffee connoisseur could hope for! A half bath and back patio lead out from the living room. Your Ipod can connect directly into those huge speakers for some boomin' beats.
The large Master's Suite is located on the ground level. This suite features a tempurpedic (!) king bed, dressing room, toilet and luxurious Turkish bath.
Upstairs you will find the Guest Quarters with a queen-sized bed, flatscreen TV, adjoining full bathroom and balcony.
Across the hall is the 'Kid's Suite'. Two rooms of bunk beds (each with a low double and a high single) connect and have a long adjoining balcony outside. The bathroom here will make you want to remodel your own! Two small sinks and another luxury tub and shower are found here.
Across the house from the Master's Suite on the ground floor is the Entertainment Room. You'll find the third flatscreen TV here along with a comfy Ikea convertible sofa that transforms into a queen-sized bed for two more guests. You'll also find the washer and dryer in here.
This house is great for large groups as there are so many sleeping options. Both the back patio and front yard are charming and you'll want to sit outside with some coffee (or iced coffee) and enjoy them year round! Every bedroom in the house has its own balcony and the bathrooms, with their modern hardware, will seriously make you consider upgrading your own!
Wifi can be picked up throughout the house and the TV is cued to Netflix. This house is also ideal for families or groups with children. There are plenty of kid toys and books around and kid shows to watch.
Trendy SoCo is about a mile from here and Downtown is 2.5 miles. Parking is a breeze--plenty on the street and also a private driveway.
This house is close to Ben White (290/71) and I-35.

First time in Austin for me. It was a pretty convenient location - about a 3 mile drive to get into downtown. If you're willing to walk, there's a Torchy's Tacos & Summermoon coffee within half a mile. We had a large group and this place was great. The kitchen had all the amenities/gadgets you could want. Plenty of beds as described and the design of the whole place was a great combination of both retro and modern touches so it had a lot of style. Flip was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!

I LOVE AIRBNB! I've been a host and traveler on airbnb for 5 years now and have loved every single person I have met on the way! I started out renting out my own funky places and now I help others rent out their spots too! I only take on properties that i love and feel good about, mostly downtown and SoCo. From Shoestring to Luxury, I'll find you sweet digs!
