Carlo and his wife were excellent hosts and the property exceeded my expectations. Carlo helped me to and from the airport (for small charges) and was flexible with my departure and arrival times. The location is excellent. Lots of space with all of the features you need.
I definitely suggest getting your own transportation on the island. I recommend the scooter shop that's just across the street. Also note that wifi works well and the ISP charges $10 (NZ) for 150 MB, $25 for 500 MB, and $50 for 1.25 GB. Hopefully you won't be online much though! :-) I missed out on it but I believe there is a convenient fish feeding at 9 AM each day at the Edgewater resort with is just a few minutes walk away.
Carlo and Roberto are delightful and so is their place to airbnb in! 5 stars for everything(although when I click on them, only 2 appear?!)
What a nice review thank you very much, we are glad you enjoyed our space and you described it so beautifully ..... 5*. We loved having you stay and hope to see you again, if you decided to visit Rarotonga again. We wish you a wonderful 2015 full of fun, peace and love,
Carlo and Roberta
You couldn't ask for better hosts than Carlo and Roberta. Kind, friendly, helpful and extremely welcoming. They have lived on Rarotonga for the last 15 years and know the island well. You won't go wrong with their recommendations on everything from restaurants and beach spots to where to do your daily shopping.
This is a wonderfully quiet, welcoming, peaceful and beautiful spot close to the sea with great hosts (and 2 cool cats!). Transfer from the airport can be arranged which makes it very easy to get there and it has everything one needs for a quiet getaway. It is in an excellent area with good restaurants, small shops and easy transportation close by- not to mention a beautiful swimming area just a minute away. I was there for a week and would have happily stayed much longer if I had been able to. I hope to return in the near future. Thank you Roberta and Carlo! : )
My family had an awesome time at Carlo's escape. Both Carlos and Roberta were very warm and welcoming to my wife, my one year old daughter, and myself. The ocean could be seen from the covered patio that we spent a lot of our time on as it was raining the days we spent there. One thing that I have noticed when traveling outside the USA is that not everybody equips them bathroom with washcloths, but they did. It was much welcomed. RIght before we headed to the Cook Islands, we read we should look in to water/reef shoes as the coral is pretty gnarly on your feet, but they provided them and also some snorkel gear. We had them prepare us breakfast and dinner, and it was well worth the money spent. The food was amazing. They are right next to a bus stop too, so getting around the island was even more convenient because of this. I am recommending their place to everyone that I know that is heading to the Cook Islands.
The tree house is the best place you can stay with absolutely no doubt!!. The accomodation was perfect, big, clean with a beautiful veranda. It is in the best location in Raro, 30seconds walking to an astonishing beach where you can also snorkel, 2minutes to convinience store, motorbike rental and a karaoke pub where you can have a cheap beer anb meet with the simpathetyc locals.
Add to that, Carlo and Roberta are just lovely, we felt there like at home, always keen to help you and give you advice. They live upstairs but you can enjoy your privacy if this is what you want. Don't miss the chance to get them to cook for you!!! You'll be delighted!!
We will really miss them!. We absolutelly recommend the tree house to our friends or whoever is looking for a place in Raro.
Thank you soo much Roberta and Carlo!!!, we'll see you on monday!! ;-) .
Oh my goodness, what a wonderful experience! Carlo picked me up from the airport and took me to my Cook Islands paradise. Carlo and his wife live upstairs. I stayed downstairs with a view of their lovely garden just a few steps from the ocean. My part of the home consisted of a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It was very nicely furnished, and I was very comfortable. I could hear the waves on the beach from my bedroom. After I got settled in after arrival, I walked just down the street to have lunch. I spotted a dive shop while eating my sandwich and made scuba diving arrangements for that afternoon. I rented a scooter from the Edgewater Resort located maybe 5 minutes walk. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance, and I drove my scooter all around the island. The airport is less than a 10 minute drive, and the main town of Avarua is just a few minutes farther. This apartment is on the west side of the island, which made for spectacular sunset watching. I came to Rarotonga to run in the Round Rarotonga Road Race. There was a big insert in the local newspaper, and Carlo got a copy for me. Carlo is a chef at the Windjammer restaurant, which is also within walking distance. I ate there on my last night in Rarotonga. If I have ever eaten better lasagna, I don't remember when. Carlo and his wife could not have been nicer or more helpful. I traveled alone, and I felt very safe knowing Carlo and his wife were just upstairs. I wholeheartedly recommend Carlo and his island paradise rental.
