The Space

This listing is for Room # 7 at The Isis Oasis Lodge, The Goddess Hathor Room. Hathor was the ancient Egyptian Goddess of Love & Beauty. For photographs of the entire Lodge, please take a look at my listing titled 'The Isis Oasis Lodge.'

The 12 room Isis Oasis Lodge (email hidden) to stay if you are visiting the wine country and want to have a spiritual experience. Drive in to our retreat center and park at the office. There you will see a small ornate Temple dedicated to the Goddess Isis. You may enter and offer a prayer while honoring the four directions. Get your room keys in the office off the spacious dining pavilion. Then you can drive up a hill where you will find the Lodge. Park behind this edifice and enter this historic building built circa 1932. None of the rooms have a private bath, TV, or air conditioning, however the lodge always stays cool. Each room is designed to reflect a different Egyptian Goddess and holds a description of the attributes she represents. All have ceiling fans, exotic netting over the beds, and artifacts representing each particular Goddess within. You can enjoy the safari lounge with fireplace that overlooks the sparkling swimming pool just outside the lodge within a secluded garden. There is a hot spa and a sauna as well as a wood burning oven in this area. Upstairs in the lodge is one gigantic room with a rug on one side where you might like to do some yoga, or watch TV. If you need to stay connected, the entire Lodge has free wireless internet. There is also a ping pong table and pool table for your enjoyment. The lodge has two dorm style bathrooms, one for women and one for men. The upstairs has more bathrooms plus a spa tub room.

There are fine dining options within walking distance from The Isis Oasis Lodge e.g. 'Catelli's Italian Restaurant', 'Diavola Pizzeria.' Additionally, there is 'The Geyserville Mud' coffee and pastry shop, which is a popular spot, and 'The Hoffman House Restaurant' on the north end of town, which is a terrific spot for breakfast.. We are close to many renowned wineries (Francis Ford Coppola, Trentadue, Trione, Geyser Peak, Clos Du Bois etc.), and the Russian River is within a short walking distance for kayaking/canoeing. Lake Sonoma is about 6 miles away, and is a popular spot for boating and hiking. Additionally, River Rock Casino is a 5 mile drive away. If you are coming as a couple or individual, you will find Isis Oasis Lodge a refreshing change from the everyday hotel or motel. Please come and visit the unique...Isis Oasis Lodge. You don't have to travel far to be in a whole other world, time and place!

**Note: If you're coming as a group, multiple rooms can be rented out simultaneously OR, the entire Lodge can be rented out for large groups/events. Check out my other listings. Also note that if other rooms in the Lodge are rented, then, you'll be sharing the facilities/amenities with other guests. I also have other rentals on my property e.g. a secluded cottage for couples 'The Cabernet Cabin.' Again, check out all my other listings! **

  • We were thrilled that Loreon allowed us to add another person to our room after we'd already made the reservation for two. We didn't spend much time in the room except for when we were sleeping, so my review is based primarily on that experience. There was no air conditioning and the full (queen?) size bed was caving in on itself. My partner and I tossed and turned all night. There were also ants covering the bathroom and the floor of our bedroom.

The check-in time on our itinerary was stated as being 1pm, but when we arrived, they said the room would not be ready until 3. Luckily, they worked quickly to give us the room by 12:45 so that we could get ready for the wedding we were all attending.

The pool was nice, except for the unfriendly couple who was swimming naked in the jacuzzi while wearing headlamps and making rude remarks to most of our party. Other guests at the Oasis were not welcoming to our group, but we had a fun time among ourselves.

  • Beautiful location. Unique retreat. The staff was very kind. We enjoyed the animal tour and relaxed by the pool before we left. The only complaint for me was our bed. It seemed pretty worn out and we both had trouble sleeping. The single bed for our daughter was good.

  • The Isis Oasis is fabulous! We came for the second time, and our friends fell in love with it. We're headed back to rent the whole grounds for a birthday party. The whole space feels relaxing and spiritual, a throwback to Bohemian California before the tech boom. A great secret hideaway in beautiful Sonoma. It's not shmancy but that's the whole appeal...

  • Isis Oasis is a totally amazing and magical retreat! The grounds are huge, and full of beautiful handmade Egyptian-themed sculptures, as well as many wonderful surprises. There truly is something inherently peaceful and spiritual about this place. Sitting in the hot tub listening to the exotic bird calls made us feel like we were in another world.

Just down the road is the small, yet full of character, town of Geyserville, and the whole area around here is packed with interesting places to explore.

I have to admit that my partner and I spent a lot more time at the Oasis itself than we'd originally planned--there was just so much to see and do right there!

We will definitely be back, and we'll invite our friends too!

  • The Isis Oasis is (email hidden) to visit. I love anything Egyptian and it was really nice to experience this property and all it has to offer. Loreon has an amazing vision with everything she had created on this land. If you love all things Egyptian, it is definitely a place to check out if you are in the area!

  • It's hard to imagine what a place like Isis Oasis will turn out to be like because there just isn't anything else like it.

Happily, that's a very good thing. We pulled in around noon, were greeted by our hostess, shown to our room and given a tour by a fellow who clearly loved his work caring for the animals. As if the place weren't beautiful enough with its decor and reverence to an ancient Egyptian faith, the grounds include a spotless pool and hot tub, a cob sauna and a collection of exotic birds that exceed the diversity of most county fairs and many zoos. White peacocks! The ambiance is extraordinary.

So was our room: beautiful, clean, cool on a hot day and generally a delight. No issues whatsoever with the shared bathrooms. Plenty of hot water and no waiting.

Communication with our host was excellent; Loreon is very pleasant and I would definitely book again. There was a yoga retreat in progress and that did seem to challenge the capacity of the kitchen, so I cannot comment on it: we ate at the restaurants within a five minute walk, which were great. This is an excellent place for a romantic get-away and a wonderful base for a bike tour of Sonoma wine country.

Part of the concern of any traveler considering a place like this will be the guests it might attract. We encountered a family with a 7-year-old boy, who left trails of plums for the birds - and a young couple, one of whom was a radio hostess with a sex-talk show and a hard time keeping her clothes on - and finally a yoga instructor with acolytes and a stick up his butt. Two out of three ain't bad ;)

Will definitely be back, and surely not soon enough.

  • Really interesting place. If you're looking for a unique experience different from the usual B&B places go here. Be aware that there are dorm style bathrooms. Friendly folks and cool animals.

About
I was a San Franciscan where I created a line of giftware and jewelry and came to the country to retire in 1978 on a 10 acre plot of land in beautiful Alexander Valley. I have spent this time creating art and beauty on my property which has a number of interesting buildings of historic significance including a 600 year old heritage tree. I dedicated the land to the ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis, otherwise known as Mother Earth. Instead of retiring, I used my time making my property a living art project. We are a non-profit organization housing exotic cats and birds of many species including a vivarium of interesting insects and small reptiles. There is also an art gallery for my artwork on my property as well as a gift bazaar offering ancient Egyptian alter pieces. I have a permaculture garden and labyrinth on my property to enjoy. We have a pool and spa, meditation temple and a redwood walled theater where concerts/plays/films are showcased. Please come and visit me at my unique peaceful sanctuary...I look forward to meeting you.
