The Space

I have a large one bedroom apartment in the Lower East Side with a full kitchen, bathroom and plenty of closet space. I have a small balcony where you can stand and take in the views of the city. There are large windows that let in a ton of light.

You will have the whole place to yourself. My apt is on the 4th floor - there is an elevator in the building as well as a laundry room. I have reliable wifi and like a true NYer I do not own a TV.

The Delancey Street subway station is a one minute walk from my front door.

Ludlow is a very popular street on the weekends - at night on Friday and Saturday you will hear noise from the street - so if you are a light sleeper or get annoyed by the noises of NYC my apt may not be for you. =)

3 blocks away you are in China Town.
4 blocks away you in Little Italy.
6 blocks away you are in SoHo.
5 blocks away you in the East Village.

My husband is a writer we have a mural in our living room based on his manifesto - The Life and Times of a Remarkable Misfit. We have custom designed our apartment to reflect the ideals we live our life by.

  • All that I wanted and more. Great location, with transport and food minutes away. Really great, clean space with everything I needed for my stay and it really is a relaxing living space. And the friendly, welcoming treatment from the hosts was wonderful. Highly recommend.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Meli's place. Her brother-in-law Tony met us when we arrived and he was very helpful. The place was comfortable, convenient and met our needs well. I particularly enjoyed the elevator. The subway entrance was literally one block away. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Perfect located, really nice flat! Also, it was perfectly organized. Even when our arrival was later then promised, somebody was waiting for us to hand out the keys. I totally recommend this flat!

  • This was the perfect spot all around for our visit. Centrally located, ample room with all the amenities needed for a week in NYC.

Hosts were actively in communication with us and made check-in and check-out smooth and easy.

  • This was my first Airbnb guest experience and I couldn't be more satisfied. As a sometimes Airbnb host I know the ups and down the process but it was interesting to see it from the other end. Meli's brother, Tony, handled the welcome -- he was great. Available, helpful, flexible. Great work. The apartment itself is great. I also live in New York (I rented the flat for a mini staycation) and I can say that the place is clean, well-equipped, very spacious and comfortable. I have lived in (and will soon be moving back to) the Lower East Side -- it remains one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. Close enough to everything but a REAL New York experience in a hip area with loads to do, eat and drink. Lastly, I was a bit skeptical of the murals but they struck a chord. Sit on the couch and look out the sliding glass door at the World Trade Center and take it all in. It makes for a special experience.

  • This apartment in LES was a great find, the location and the size of space is excellent. The neighbourhood and transport links where also ideal. Using the metro, we could get everywhere we wanted with relative ease.

The noise and traffic was not a issue for us at all, after days of sightseeing we fell straight to sleep in the comfy bed. Toni (email hidden) and waited for us when we where slightly delayed and let us leave our bags on our departure day.

We would definitely stay here again, due to the neighbourhood and transport links. The only thing that let the apartment down slightly, was it could of been cleaner, not sure if this a general difference between a air b n b appt and a hotel.

Favourite local bars and restaurants include: Spitzer's corner, Schiller's, Katz, the falafel shop and Essex Market.

  • Meli's place was fantastic – the amenities are all there, the neighbourhood is great, and the artwork is beautiful. Can't say enough about how amazing the area is – there's so much to do and see, so many great places to eat and drink. I was left wanting for nothing.

  • great apartment. clean, sunny, bright. i thought it was an excellent value, and the hosts were super helpful in making sure everything worked great.

my one (small) note for visitors from our of town, is that this is not the quietest of locations. its on a quiet street, and there was absolutely no neighbor related noise, but the building is situated close to a major avenue with tons of traffic, ambulances, firetrucks, etc. i had a hard time sleeping as a result ... but thats an issue in most places.

i would definitively stay here again.
