The Space

An authentic Log House—a rare find in Hawaii! This spectacular gated property, has the feel of a mountain retreat away from the tourist scene, but is just minutes to restaurants, shops and beautiful beaches. Recently renovated, it has new appliances, new paint, new carpet/flooring, and offers all the amenities.

WE HAVE NOT INCLUDED the 13.41% Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax because you would have to pay the airbnb fee on that so to save you their fee WE WILL SEND YOU A SEPARATE INVOICE for the additional fee. PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS STATE LAW THAT WE ADD THE TAX...Sorry!

Whether you seek a romantic getaway for two or a great place for a family reunion, a gathering of friends or a (email hidden)is place is perfect.

This property is a hidden jewel in a lush garden setting—a gardener's delight, artist get away, spiritual retreat or family vacation.
This house is versatile in how many it can sleep; It is MUCH larger than it looks. It has 5 bedrooms (one is a spacious loft and one is a studio suite with an additional bathroom, kitchenette and a private entrance). All total there are 9 beds. All located on several acres of lush tropical beauty. The property is large so if you have a larger group, contact me about the possibilities.
The house has a large living room, covered lanai, fully equipped kitchen, picnic/BBQ areas, and WiFi. It has gas stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven coffee maker, dishwasher, blender, citrus juicer, ironing board, iron, two bathrooms have a bathtub/shower, the other a shower. There is plenty of off road parking.
This property is located immediately next door to The Sacred Garden (with two walking labyrinths, succulent gardens, water gardens, meditation gardens) and is where we (the owners) live, so you have easy access to us if you need anything but with plenty of privacy. A caretaker and nurseryman also live on the property in case you need assistance. The property is in close proximity to other attractions like the Piiholo Ziplines, The Temple of Peace, World-Class Kite and Windsurfing at Ho'okipa and the famous Jaws big surf site. Great hiking trails are just 3 miles away. Haliimaile General Store and Mama's Fish House are minutes away. Haleakala National Park is only 45 minutes away.
We are 2 miles to Makawao Town restaurants and shops, 3 miles to Haiku Town, 5 Miles to Paia Town and Baldwin Beach. The airport is only 15-20 minutes away but you will feel like you are far away from it all in this absolutely peaceful garden setting.
We have a working organic nursery, growing ornamentals and organic veggie starts, a botanical garden and coffee farm. Access to this property and our adjacent property, The Sacred Garden, allows you to go on walks through 8.5 acres of an incredible tropical setting. Upon request we will happily offer a tour so you can learn about Hawaiian plants, coffee production, water lilies, etc.. We have mango, coconuts, coffee, papaya, lemon, tangerine, bananas, avocados, lilikoi (passion fruit) macadamia nuts, lychee, breadfruit, and flowers galore—haleconia, bird of paradise, jade vine, ginger, allspice, and an absolutely incredible ylang ylang tree. Different flowering trees take turns blooming so the valley is constantly featuring a different splash of color.
Gardening classes are also available as well as tours of several of Maui's other unique farms. We also offer personalized private retreats and can arrange for massage, private yoga or Qigong, relationship-, spirituality-, creativity-, personal growth-, life coaching, intuitive readings....we are affiliated with Maui's best practitioners...
There is a seasonal stream running through the property so from time to time there is the additional treat of a stream—(or a river!) running through the yard.
The elevation is about 1000 feet which is PERFECT on Maui! We are about 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes for absolutely comfortable days (70-80 degrees) and GREAT temps for sleeping (usually in the 60's). This is the MAXIMUM elevation you can stay and still go scuba diving on Maui. Speaking of diving...we are avid divers and can assist you booking Scuba Diving with the best dive operation on Maui.
There is a large dog on the property who is extremely friendly who will likely greet you as you come home....
You will definitely want a rental car....there is a bus stop a mile or two away but not ideal....and bikes are a little hazardous as these are hilly, windy, narrow roads.

If you need more space, we work with the neighbors and can guide you to their Airbnb sites for larger groups....
Great for Family reunions, retreats, weddings, birthdays, small gatherings

Guest Access

You will have access to the whole house and 8.5 acres of lush tropical beauty, The Sacred Garden next door, the labyrinth, and the ability to pick and enjoy fruit (seasonally).

Interaction with Guests

We live right next door so we are available if you need us, but we aim to give you your privacy. We will greet you to check you in and orient you, are happy to give you a tour of the farm/property..... however, if you want more contact, you just need to let us know. We are respectful that you are "getting away!"

The Neighborhood

This area is a magical well kept secret on Maui. We are located at the dividing line between the wet side and the dry side, which means we get enough rain to stay green, and enough sun to stay sane! We get rainbows almost daily and are the perfect temperature (60's at night, 70's-80's in the day). We are located just minutes to shops and restaurants, but the nearest neighbor is a quarter mile away. Only 15-20 minutes to the airport

Getting around

You will absolutely want a rental car...we are on a country road with no public transportation nearer than 2 miles away.... bikes are dicey cause there is no shoulder... we have plenty off street parking.

Other Things to Note

We have additional units on the property and in the neighborhood so if you have a larger group. Let us know!
We will greet you, check you in and orient you to the property. There is a booklet in the house with "things to know" and directions from us to virtually everywhere on the island, as well as info about the property....
As noted in the description...we have not included the 13.41% Hawaii State Transient Accommodations Tax in the airbnb price because you would have to pay their 6% fee on top of that costing you we will send you a paypal invoice for the additional tax. PLEASE anticipate that addition. We apologize but it is state law and airbnb doesn't have the option of including it all at once.

  • Our stay at Eve's log house was amazing. Even though there were 10 of us, there was plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was extremely well stocked; it had everything and beyond what's expected at a vacation rental property. And, when we experienced a problem with our oven, Eve responded right away and fixed it. The location was also very good for us. It was very convenient for grocery shopping as well as visiting all the sights we wanted to cover. The house even had a few extras for the beach - cooler, beach umbrellas and boogie boards. Incredible! Washer and dryer was extremely handy too.

  • We stayed at this beautiful log cabin. Eve was a really great host. When we first arrived she took the time to walk us through the entire cabin and show us the ins and outs.
The house is located on a plush piece of land. It had internet and it was just a great place to relax. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a nice relaxing vacation.

  • Our group of 10 senior citizens (80's and 90's) absolutely loved this place. Everyone had a place for themselves and their possessions with plenty of community room as well. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook for a large group. We lacked for nothing. Washer and dryer in the basement allowed those who wanted to do a load the opportunity..

The picture underrates the house. It is much more spacious than it seems and more elegant. The furnishings are very comfortable. The downside for some was a lack of television but the serenity of the grounds more than made up for it What a beautiful place.

I definitely recommend this for those who would like to truly get away and be at peace. We toured the island almost everyday and found the location relatively central to seeing everything and the pleasure to come back to.

  • Eve was great. Always available. The cabin easily slept 10 of us. Although it was in the mountains we too far from anything on the island. It was quiet and peaceful and comfortable.

  • Spent a week on Maui with a large group of family and friends to celebrate my son's 40th birthday. We loved staying at the Log House.

It's bigger and more luxurious than the photo shows, but the best part about staying there was Eve and her husband Steve. Easygoing, charming and fascinating people, and perfect hosts, they were available when we needed but kept out of the way.

We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Two of the three bathrooms are accessible only by going through someone's bedroom. But come on, how could you complain when there are three bathrooms plus a full laundry room?

The only other downside is getting used to the feral roosters. They don't seem to wait even for daylight to crow.

  • What a wonderful place to stay! You couldn't ask for a more pleasant place to stay. If we ever return to the island we know just where we'll be staying!!!!

  • Great place. Loads of space, beautiful surroundings and wonderfully furnished. Hosts were super friendly and helpful and they had unexpectedly provided toiletries, coffee etc - nice touch. The grounds were magnificent and being able to pick fresh fruit from the trees was great, and of course the fruit was delicious. A great place to stay and get away.

  • We were so fortunate to stumble across this log cabin, the Sacred Garden, and Eve and Steve. We stayed for two weeks mid-January, and also chose to be married by Eve in the garden's labyrinth, with a group of friends/family who also shared the cabin. It could not have been more perfect for us.
First, we loved the cabin. As Eve notes, it is MUCH larger than it looks in the picture. We had 10 people in it for about a week of our stay, and it felt totally spacious - very large bedrooms (especially the loft, which we called the "treeh-ouse", and the wonderful studio), and good community space inside and out. The "fire circle" area was a great evening bbq hangout and could have easily accommodated more people than we had. The cabin is newly remodeled (v interesting story - ask the hosts) and clean and well appointed - especially the kitchen. We cooked a lot and found everything we needed. Handy for a large group: there are two refrigerators - one in studio. Washer/dryer/laundry room made laundry easy.
The location is beautiful - think jungle garden - and peaceful. We loved the morning chorus of doves and roosters and evening crickets and stars. Although there are several other rentals (smaller) on the property, you have lots of privacy because of the size of the property and dense trees/garden. We picked fruit (lemons, tangerines, avocados this time of year) and enjoyed wandering in the lovingly restored greenhouse at the next door Sacred Garden. We were lucky enough to be here for one of Eve's full moon labyrinth walks - highly recommended.
The atmosphere at the property is very laid back and friendly (and seems secure - there is a locked gate). Eve and Steve are warm, attentive hosts who give you your privacy. Eve was a brief text away when we needed anything (not often). She gave us a property tour and happily arranged massages at the cabin for us. For us, big-dog ambassador Bodhi was a bonus (he even attended our wedding which cracked everyone up) - he's a teddy-bear personality and comically big, and everyone loved him. If you don't love dogs - don't worry - you'll probably rarely see him, and he's very quiet and non-threatening.
Finally, if you are thinking of a Maui wedding, Eve does a fantastic job -warm, gracious, and clearly with tons of experience - she'll set you at ease and add to the occasion.
One word of warning: you are in jungle here, and mosquitoes can be a nuisance at times. They didn't bother me much but if you spend much time outside (and you will want to) you'll need repellent - several of our group got bitten. The house is well-screened so they are not a problem inside.
Restaurants/small towns are handy - try Colleen's in Haiku! We also snorkeled a lot near Makena/Wailea, and explored Haleakala - all easy drives from the property, which is pretty centrally located.

    Response from Eve:

Bless you ....thanks so much! WE MISS YOU GUYS! Can't wait for your annual anniversary trek! (hint hint wink wink!)

  • The House has very nice character. It is rustic but provides the comfort you need. It is very nicely located in a jungle cove. We all slept really well there.
During our stay there where quite a few challenges with internet and leaking roofs but both Eve and Steve where very friendly and took all our complaints seriously. Eve told me the house soon will get a dedicated internet line so that takes care of that problem. The leaking roof was fixed.
Would highly recommend the place to a friend.
The only concern is that Eve plans to raise the cost per night with 50% or more and I don't know if that is good value compared to other available places.
So overall my rating is 5 stars for the house and the hosts Eve and Steve!

    Response from Eve:

Thanks Hans, glad you enjoyed your stay and we appreciate your understanding as we worked out the kinks in the internet and fixed the sudden leak in the roof.
Regarding the price increase Hans is referring to.....Because this was a relatively new listing for us when he reserved his stay, we gave him and his family a huge discount over the normal rate because they had an extended stay. However, because it was over the Christmas Holidays and New Years—the busiest time of year—and because we had to pay 13% or Transient Accommodation Taxes and a huge electric bill, and high demand for the same time of year, we could not extend the same discount during the holidays for next year, We are not raising our prices year round, only as everyone else does, during this holiday period of high demand. If Hans and his family want to return at a slower time of year, we will certainly do our best to work within their budget. Blessings for a prosperous and healthy, happy new year!

  • Our stay at the charming log cabin was excellent! There was a total of five adults and three kids. We had enough room for all of us and even some to spare! The host made sure that we were comfortable and had everything that we (website hidden) was fun! We had everything we needed to create meals there! Getting back from a long day of exploring felt like coming home! I think what I like most about this place is that is was centralized and we were amongst the locals. We also got a feeling of living in a forest! The last night we were there, it rained and it was super calming for us all. Relaxation before departure! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
