This property is a hidden jewel in a lush garden setting—a gardener's delight, artist get away, spiritual retreat or family vacation.
This house is versatile in how many it can sleep; It is MUCH larger than it looks. It has 5 bedrooms (one is a spacious loft and one is a studio suite with an additional bathroom, kitchenette and a private entrance which is included in the price). All total there are 10 beds. All located on several acres of lush tropical beauty. There are additional accommodations on adjacent properties so if you have a larger group, contact me about the possibilities.
The house has a large living room, covered lanai, fully equipped kitchen, picnic/BBQ areas, and WiFi. It has gas stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven coffee maker, dishwasher, blender, citrus juicer, ironing board, iron, two bathrooms have a bathtub/shower, the other a shower. There is plenty of off road parking.
This property is located immediately next door to The Sacred Garden (with two walking labyrinths, succulent gardens, water gardens, meditation gardens) and is where we (the owners) live, so you have easy access to us if you need anything but with plenty of privacy.
The property is in close proximity to other attractions like the Piiholo Ziplines, Maui Bike Park, The Temple of Peace, World-Class Kite and Windsurfing at Ho'okipa and the famous Jaws big surf site. Great hiking trails are just 3 miles away. Haliimaile General Store and Mama's Fish House are minutes away. Haleakala National Park is only 45 minutes away.
We are 2 miles to Makawao Town restaurants and shops, 3 miles to Haiku Town, 5 Miles to Paia Town and Baldwin Beach. The airport is only 15-20 minutes away but you will feel like you are far away from it all in this absolutely peaceful garden setting.
We have a working organic nursery, growing ornamentals and organic veggie starts, a botanical garden and coffee farm. Access to this property and our adjacent property, The Sacred Garden, allows you to go on walks through 8.5 acres of an incredible tropical setting. Upon request we will happily offer a tour so you can learn about Hawaiian plants, coffee production, water lilies, etc.. We have mango, coconuts, coffee, papaya, lemon, tangerine, bananas, avocados, lilikoi (passion fruit) macadamia nuts, lychee, breadfruit, and flowers galore—haleconia, bird of paradise, jade vine, ginger, allspice, and an absolutely incredible ylang ylang tree. Different flowering trees take turns blooming so the valley is constantly featuring a different splash of color.
Gardening classes are also available as well as tours of several of Maui's other unique farms. We also offer personalized private retreats and can arrange for massage, private yoga or Qigong, relationship-, spirituality-, creativity-, personal growth-, life coaching, intuitive readings....we are affiliated with Maui's best practitioners...
There is a seasonal stream running through the property so from time to time there is the additional treat of a stream—(or a river!) running through the yard.
The elevation is about 1000 feet which is PERFECT on Maui! We are about 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes for absolutely comfortable days (70-80 degrees) and GREAT temps for sleeping (usually in the 60's). This is the MAXIMUM elevation you can stay and still go scuba diving on Maui. Speaking of diving...we are avid divers and can assist you booking Scuba Diving with the best dive operation on Maui.
There is a large dog on the property who is extremely friendly who will likely greet you as you come home.... Please note that this is a log house in the middle of the jungle and while we do everything we can to control insects, they are a part of life in Hawaii and virtually impossible to eliminate. If you are phobic or highly sensitive to insects, you may not want to choose to stay in the jungle.
You will definitely want a rental car....there is a bus stop a mile or two away but not ideal....and bikes are a little hazardous as these are hilly, windy, narrow roads.

Interaction with Guests
We live right next door so we are available if you need us, but we aim to give you your privacy. We will greet you to check you in and orient you, are happy to give you a tour of the farm/property..... however, if you want more contact, you just need to let us know. We are respectful that you are "getting away!"
This area is a magical well kept secret on Maui. We are located at the dividing line between the wet side and the dry side, which means we get enough rain to stay green, and enough sun to stay sane! We get rainbows almost daily and are the perfect temperature (60's at night, 70's-80's in the day). We are located just minutes to shops and restaurants, but the nearest neighbor is a quarter mile away. Only 15-20 minutes to the airport
You will absolutely want a rental car...we are on a country road with no public transportation nearer than 2 miles away.... bikes are dicey cause there is no shoulder... we have plenty off street parking.
Other Things to Note
We have an additional cottage on the property and our neighbors have small cottages as well so if you have a larger group. Let us know!
We will greet you, check you in and orient you to the property. There is a booklet in the house with "things to know" and directions from us to virtually everywhere on the island, as well as info about the property....
As noted in the description...we have not included the 13.41% Hawaii State Transient Accommodations Tax in the airbnb price because you would have to pay their 6% fee on top of that costing you more....so we will send you a paypal invoice for the additional tax. PLEASE anticipate that addition. We apologize but it is state law and airbnb doesn't have the option of including it all at once.
We appreciate respectful, responsible people who are careful with our home, yard and pets. We also maintain a peaceful, happy environment with no abuse of each other, property or animals.
Please no smoking in the house or on the lanai...(the yard is okay)
There is a great (big) friendly dog on the property....and a few cats (no pets inside...)
Check in is after 4pm and check out is by 10am. We can accommodate earlier check ins and later check outs if no one is staying with us the night before or after...and by prior arrangement
Tenant hereby acknowledges that this rental is located adjacent to agricultural zoned lands as well as real nature—seasonal stream and steep cliffs. It is acknowledged by all parties that this is not a typical city or suburban setting; farm animals may be kept on neighboring properties, wild chickens and roosters roam freely Unstable, dangerous, and slippery conditions may exist within and outside the property and injury may occur to anyone who is not accustomed to rural areas and does not take personal measures to avoid these hazards. With full knowledge of the above facts and warnings, Tenant accepts and assumes all risks involved in or related to any and all activities engaged in on this property and as a result of any access it provides. In other words, PLEASE BE MINDFUL AND RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
