The Space

This apartment for rent in Rome is located in Borgo Pio, one of most beautiful areas in the Rome city centre, along a pedestrian street that connects San Peter to Castel Sant'Angelo. The street was once a passageway used by the Pope to reach the Basilica, and the wall besides was particularly useful to him and his court of Cardinals and Bishops during wars to allow them to escape from the rebels reaching the safe fortress of Castel S. Angelo along the river Tiber.

The apartment is located on the second and third floor of a charming roman 16th century historic building. The two levels apartment is made of the typical Italian wooden ceilings and the Florentine tiled floors. Living in it you will enjoy a very lovely view of Borgo Pio and the surrounding area of Vatican City feeling the same way of the first tourists that came to visit Rome at the beginnings of the XVIII century. On the lower level there is a large living room, a close by dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. The sleeping area is on the upper level and is composed of three bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. The bedrooms are as follows: one double room with tub and two rooms with two single beds each and shower.Free wifi internet.aircon
An excellent starting point for any itinerary in the historic centre of Rome; S. Pietro, Castel Sant'Angelo and piazza Navona are the nearest places, accessible on foot within a few minutes. Vatican museums are round the corner.
Shopping in the street and nearby: Italian fashion, food, handicraft.

From the Leonardo da Vinci Rome Airport (Fiumicino) it is possible to take a taxi directly to the house (50 euro fo 4 p, 80 for 6-8 p) or take the urban train from the airport to the Termini Central Railroad Station and hence a taxi to the apartment or the tramway, then walk few minutes up to the apartment. The taxi solution or the train + taxi or tramway solution take about 45 minutes.
From Ciampino Rome Airport it is possible to take a shuttle that reaches the Termini Railroad Central Station and a bus or a taxi directly to the apartment (50 euro). The taxi solution or the train + taxi or tramway take about 45 minutes. We can also send you a mini private van to pick you up at the airport. No smoking in the flat, please!

  • My wife and I brought our two teenage boys and really lives this apartment. Very close to the Vatican and an easy walk to the metro.

The apartment was perfect. Clean and tidy. Wifi was always in (the boys appreciated that) and the street was lively without being too loud.

  • We loved the Borgo Pio location of our apartment! Lovely neighborhood with friendly people. Alessandra was very helpful in arranging rides to and from the airport. The apartment was spacious for our party of 6. Thanks for helping to make our trip so easy!

  • This was the first time our family traveled to Italy. Alessandra had arranged a car service to meet myself, my husband and 3 daughters (ages 22,20,18) at the airport. Upon arriving at the the flat on Borgo Pio, we had a wonderful feeling. The restaurant at the bottom of the building was hosting a lovely wedding. Alessandra greeted us and made us feel very welcomed. She explained where the bus and train stations were located, shopping for the girls and gave the pass code for the internet. Came in handy looking for restaurants and the girls connecting with home. The apartment was perfect for our needs, 3 bedrooms and baths, a kitchen...we had breakfast in the flat everyday.
The location was right down the block from St. Peter's Basilica....which we were blessed by the Pope on Sunday. We walked every where, easy walk to Trastereve (neighborhood in Rome...god restaurants). We walked every where, leaving the flat, passing the Castel S. Angelo and across the Ponte S. Angelo bridge to reach the other side of the Tiber River. Here we strolled through Piazza Navona, saw the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain (presenting under construction), Spanish Steps and the Colosseum.
We had a wonderful 6 days at Alessandra's place, location was perfect considering we didn't mind walking and got lost every time we went out...which was half the fun. The Castel S. Angelo was out beacon of light every night for we knew we were almost Home....how we started referring to our flat.
We highly recommended this place, the block has a wonderful feeling with the restaurants, music at night and priest and nuns walking the block in the morning.
This was a great way to experience Rome for the first time, the whole family loved it from the youngest 18 to the oldest 52.

  • We stayed in this Borgo Pio apartment for a week in May 2014. The apartment, equipment, location and management were fantastic! The apartment is more spacious than it appears in the photos, plenty of room for our party of 6. The apartment is well located for activities around the Vatican and just a 10-15 minute walk to Centro Storico (across Ponte St. Angelo). Numerous markets and eateries are within easy walking distance and the apartment is close to transit for activities further afield. All communications were easy and timely, exchanging keys and introduction was easily arranged, fun and friendly.

The only feature that is not obvious in the listing which may bother some is the lack of doors for privacy on the 2 upper story bedrooms (though each has separate stairs on opposite ends of the apartment). All in a a great value and a wonderful authentic place to stay when visiting Rome.

  • Living at Borgo Pio was amazing! The flat was just perfect for us and we had some good evenings there :) Also the flat is right next to worlds best gelateria "Hedera" which I recommend everyone to try out!

Alessandra was such a great hostess! I could contact her with any problem and she'd fix it immediately! She booked taxi for us and showed us the way to different things in Rome.

This flat is in a super nice neighborhood and it's walking distance to centrum. As architecture students we found that really great :) Thank you so much!

  • There were six of us visiting Rome for the first time. We found the flat easily by taxi. It was exactly as described online. If you are looking for luxurious place, stay somewhere else. If you are looking for a very comfortable flat on an amazing street, this place is for you. It was clean, cozy and a fun place to stay.
We had breakfast each day on Borgo Pio. We were never disappointed. The only day we were there for lunch, we tried Vecchio's Pizza, just across the street (though none of us had pizza), the food was amazing!! The restaurant with tables just outside the front door (whose name I didn't write down) was the best food we found anywhere Italy. We had dinner there twice.
If we are lucky enough to get to come back to Rome, we will definitely stay here again!!
