About This Listing
Your comfy bed, made up with colorful, crisp linens. A welcoming spot at the end of a full day in Vermont!
We live in a beautiful, rural area known as the "Upper Valley" on the Ompompanoosuc River in Norwich, Vermont just six miles (a ten minute drive) from Dartmouth College. Step out the front door of our newly built Victorian farmhouse and relax with a book on the covered front porch, canoe or kayak on the river or take a hike on one of the many trails in our neighborhood that will take you by fields of cows, mountain views, and river valleys.
The guest room is well appointed with comfortable linens, a queen-sized bed and is decorated with soothing colors and fabrics. Your bedroom and adjoining private bath are situated on the third floor which you will have entirely to yourself. There is also a rollaway cot that can be pulled out to use if you need an extra single bed. NOTE: If you're traveling as a family or as a larger group, we do have an extra bedroom which is also located on the third floor with a double bed that sleeps an additional two people comfortably. This second bedroom also shares the private bath.
The private bathroom which has vintage fixtures, a claw foot tub, and fluffy towels is bright and cheerful and looks out over a grassy hillside.
If you'd like breakfast, we'll make you coffee and tea in the morning along with yogurt, granola, muesli, fruit, fresh King Arthur Bread, and locally-made fruit preserves.
We have high speed internet and parking, a fully equipped kitchen -that you are free to use - as well as an extra refrigerator in which to store your perishables.
This is the perfect spot to come for a little R&R in northern New England or if you are in the area visiting Dartmouth College, the Tuck School of Business, Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth Medical School, King Arthur Flour or are just here to appreciate the abundant natural beauty of the area. Nearby Hanover boasts some fun restaurants, a vibrant seasonal farmers market, a movie theater, and the Hood Art Museum. The year-round outdoor opportunities can't be beat: we're close to the Dartmouth Skiway in Lyme, NH, the new Nordic Center in Strafford, Whaleback Mountain, skating ponds, waterfalls, mountain biking trails, the Appalachian Trail, and fantastic day hikes. We'd love to recommend fun destinations to make your stay even more special.
My daughter and I had a delightful getaway in Vermont, and our stay with Lisa and her family was one of the highlights. We felt very much at home and our room was everything we had hoped for. It was private, spacious and very comfortable. We were "rained in" one day of our stay (actually we had hoped for such a day) and we enjoyed the day at Lisa's home, most of it spent working on our projects at the dining room table with a beautiful view of the countryside. We would definitely stay with Lisa again if we ever get back to Vermont.
We have enjoyed very much to stay with Lisa and Kent. They were great hosts, who were extemly helpful in all situations. They had wunderful advices to explore the fanstastic area. The room is very nice and comfortable.
Really a great place to stay!!!!

Lisa was extremely welcoming, the house was GORGEOUS, the room was spotless (as was the whole house), the bed was comfy, plush and private. What more could I ask? I would love to stay at Lisa's again!
Lisa and her husband are wonderful hosts. The room was exactly as described. My daughter and I truly felt "at home" in their beautiful house. Very quiet setting and the room was very comfortable. We forgot our air mattress for my daughter, but they were very gracious and set up a little bed for her at the last second. We love animals, so it was great fun to have their dog and cats around. We will definitely stay there again if we get back to the Hanover area again.
Thank you Lisa and family for hosting me. I had a great experience. It's a lovely house with lots of characters. The hosts are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Lisa was kind enough to give me a ride around town, which is extremely appreciated. Would def stay again for my next visit.
Lisa's place reminded me of how appealing New England can be especially in the fall. The setting is lovely and her home is a model of all the charm one would associate with a New England home. Lisa, her husband and her daughters were all lovely and I would have liked to have had more time to speak with them. The guest bedroom is on the third floor, was roomy and comfortable and adjacent to a private bathroom. I was there for a conference at Dartmouth so very busy, coming in late, etc, but wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. BTW - parking is off street in their driveway so as convenient as can be.
Lisa and her family were welcoming even though we arrived at their meal time. They have a beautiful, tranquil home in a very pretty area. They provided a very yummy breakfast for us in the morning.
About the Host, Lisa
Hello. I'm a mother of three teenagers who's passionate about food, cooking, reading and travel. I run a small business called "Vermont Crepe & Waffle" and write a food blog called "Fork on the Road." When I'm not spending time with my husband and kids or testing a new recipe, I'm most likely to be found out and about exploring the world (especially France). Can't live without: my local libary, a cast iron skillet, farmer's markets, my knitting bag and another adventure planned in the future.
