We recently stayed for several nights at Franco's wonderful apartment in Fossato di Vico. The apartment was just as pictured: spacious, fully equipped, clean and comfortable. Everything that we needed was there. And the view out the windows was amazing!
Franco was a wonderful host. He met us when we arrived and showed us the features of the apartment. He had maps and guidebooks for us, and made suggestions on places to go and places to eat. When we were still in the US and planning our trip, his email advised us to be sure that our rental car had a GPS, and that was wonderful advice! He also advised us to get an inexpensive Italian mobile phone with Sim card to use while we were in Italy, and that too was a great convenience. But the best thing Franco did for us was this: when he heard that we were coming to Fossato di Vico because our grandparents were originally from there, he asked for their last names and said he would see if he could advise us. Franco actually found we had relatives in a nearby village, and arranged a meeting for us, and came along with a friend who speaks more English for the initial meeting (and stayed over two hours!) to help with translation! We are so grateful to Franco (and his friend Giovanni), and hope to return to Fossato di Vico in a year or two. Of course we will stay at Franco's!
Grazie, Franco. We will see you before too long!

Franco was a fine host, the apartment was as advertised and the village and surrounding areas most enjoyable. Franco sent us to several fine restaurants, one up on the mountain side where beautiful hang gliding by a dozen persons was in action. Fassato di Vico is a good location for visiting other places in Umbria.
We had a wonderful holiday in the Monte Cucco area. Franco was an excellent host - he was very kind and helpful to us. He is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us information about the nature and parks activities we could do. He also runs tours of the grotto caves and we joined a tour one day - it was a great experience!
The apartment is excellent value for money - it's really spacious and easily sleeps 4. It's very well furnished, comfortable, peaceful and with amazing views of the Umbrian hills around. Fossato is a gorgeous hilltop village - it's very quiet, but perfect if you want to just relax and take in the atmosphere. There are good walks in the surrounding area, and supermarkets and other stores are nearby. We came without a car, but I'd recommend hiring one to get to the best walks and mountains of the park. Umbria is a beautiful region & we'd love to go back again!
Thank you Franco!
