The Space

A large, bright studio in a great neighborhood in central Reykjavik. Equipped with a small kitchen, table for two, sofa and a comfy double bed. Perfect for 1-2 people. 2 min from a bus line that goes straight downtown (walking downtown takes 20min)

A large, bright room/studio in a great neighborhood in central Reykjavik.
The room has wifi internet access and parking.
Inside the room there (email hidden) area equipped with everything one might need, a sink, a stovetop and a fridge (and, of course, all utensils).

There is a seperate bathroom for the room and in the basement there is a shower (no luxury there, just a basic shower in the laundry room).

The room has a large comfy double bed, a sofa, a tv and a table that seats two.

So the room is basically a small studio apartment:)
Guests should expect a laid back stay in a nice room in the center of Reykjavik city.

We live in the apartment next to the room/studio so we´re often available during the evenings and weekends. Guests can also can or text anytime, we are happy to help out with anything we can and all questions are very welcome.

Next to a one of Reykjavik's main ourdoor areas, Öskjuhlíð, as well as a small park where the Reykjavik Art Museum is located.

Great bus transportation all around and only a 15-20 minute walk downtown (the main shopping street). Bus nr. 13 stops in front of a small grocery store at the corner of the street (2 min walk). It goes directly downtown.

A small grocery store and a bakery within 3 minutes walking.

  • We had a wonderful stay in this apartment. Sylvia was most helpful. The room was perfect with everything we needed. The bed was super comfy and the wifi was exceptional. The location too, was great - an easy walk to downtown, to the bus stops and to the mall. I would recommend this apartment to all.

  • I enjoyed staying in Sylvia's. It was an extremely clean, bright room with everything you could want. While there wasn't a breakfast there were options in the neighborhood that fit the bill. The bus stop was close and Sylvia knew which bus I needed to get downtown. I might stay closer to downtown next time, but it was peaceful, warm and cozy. Thanks for a nice place to stay, Sylvia.

  • Staying at neighborhood rather city center is always an unknown just being away from downtown. Reyjkavik is a small capital by global standards so just about everything are within walking distance if 20 minutes. Sylvia's place is just that ; 20 min to city center and within 4 blocks of 4 bus routes to town. And bus fare is 350 Kron with almost 2 hr transfer included.
As for the apartment, it has a kitchenette and private bathroom. Quiet neighborhood and yes, 20 minutes to the BSI, the city main bus transfer station. Sylvia's family is very quiet and well, I only saw them 2 X in my 4 day stay. It's definitely private.

  • The apartment is comfortable, clean, located 20 minutes from the bus station and 30 minutes from Reykjavik downtown. We didn't see Sylvia but we contacted whith her by mail. Easy check-in (even at 2 am) and easy check out.

  • Lovely private room. We walked everywhere, all over town, about 20 mins into downtown but a very pretty walk through a park and neighborhoods. Sylvia and her husband were extremely kind and helpful with our travel plans. We would definitely stay here again!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment! It was clean and in a great location (20 minutes walk to the bus terminal, 30 minutes to downtown, and 10 minutes to a grocery store). We really appreciated being able to cook! As other reviewers have mentioned, the shower wasn't glamorous, but it had great water pressure (and there was never anyone using the laundry room when I wanted to shower, so it's pretty private). Compared to other accommodations I looked at in Reykjavik, Sylvia's apartment was the best value. I would highly recommend it for anyone travelling to Reykjavik.

  • Our stay in Sylvia's studio was very nice, and it was a good base in Reykjavik for us to see other parts of the country. There was free parking there which was very handy for us with our rental car. We just suggest to others to be careful when using the hot plate to cook food, as we had ours positioned how it is in the picture and unfortunately it caused some damage to the above cabinetry. Other than that, our stay was great and it is a very relaxing and peaceful apartment.

  • Didn't meet Sylvia but met her partner who was v friendly & welcoming.

The apartment was in an ideal location, 20min walk from the centre (easy access by bus too 5mins). Very close to Bsi bus terminal for excursions etc.

apartment itself was as described, good cooking facilities & fridge, comfy bed, dining table etc.

shower was in the basement/laundry room. For me the shower area wasn't ideal just because I had to get dressed in the basement so i didn't walk through the hallway to Sylvia s home in a towel.

Would recommend the apartment though, great location & value for money.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Sylvía's place. It was easy to find since we walked almost everywhere. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. We were glad there was a refrigerator, hot plate, and tea kettle available since we used it every day. Sylvía and her family were very helpful with all of our questions! Though the shower is in the basement and minimal, it was manageable and private with lots of hot water. We would definitely stay there again if we visit. Thanks so much!

  • Sylvía allowed us to check in early in the morning, which was cool. The studio is very calm and located in a calm street (20 minutes walking to the city center) and it is well equipped and has a good bed. But it does not have the TV how is saying in the ad.
We saw Sylvía only once, but she gave us her phone and tell us to be free to call/text if we have any problem.

A cheap solution in the expensive Reykjavik!
