This beautiful Spanish-Mediterranean property is conveniently located in the quiet neighborhood of Mission Terrace. Just 2 short blocks up to Mission Street and Mission bus lines, 2 blocks down to the J-Church metro (which runs many historic street cars), is easily accessible to/from 101 and scenic 280 fwy and a 5 minute walk to Glen Park and Glen Park Bart Station. Glen Park is bursting with a diverse selection of critically acclaimed restaurants (Gialina Pizzeria, Chenery Park for California comfort food, Le P'tit Laurent French Bistro, Osha Thai, Taqueria La Corneta, among others), a cheese shop, Irish pub, gourmet grocery, bakery, coffee shops and Farmers Market on Sunday!
Our home was built in 1938 and has maintained all the original, unique details including colorful tile and porcelain bathtub and sink, wood burning fireplace, chandeliers, crown molding, hardwood floors and a beautiful built in sideboard under the original mural of Yosemite with historic significance. With your large, bright room - featuring the most comfortable mattress in residence and bay windows overlooking the garden - you'll be given priority access to the shared bathroom, use of the kitchen, your own living room with that wood burning fireplace, TV with Netflix and DirecTV, your own dining room for your meals, library, lovely old fashioned garden featuring organic blackberries in Spring/Summer, Meyer lemon tree and heirloom herb garden, and finally, a washer and dryer. There's also plenty of storage available in the basement should you need it and ample, free street parking.
Your hosts are Danielle and Emerson and their two cats Captain Xavier and Indonesia (who will most likely hide the whole time you are here!). Danielle is a private chef and cooking instructor and will always have homemade ice cream, chocolate pots de cremes or seasonal fruit galettes on hand for you to try. A continental breakfast is included with your stay and tailored to your preferences. Lunches, picnics, appetizers, snacks, simple or multi-course dinners are available for purchase from a unique menu of local favorites. Danielle is also available to cater small events, dinner parties and cooking classes, and can chauffeur you on local food themed and Wine Country tours too, should you be interested.
The neighborhood is safe and quiet and located about a half mile from the heart of the Mission and popular Bernal Heights. The perfect place to recharge after a busy day sightseeing or to get some work done. And you can be in the wine country, Calistoga for a mud bath or to Silicon Valley in an hour or less.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!
Only registered guests are allowed on the premises unless prior consent has been arranged.
Kindly treat the house and its contents with care and respect. Please use the coasters provided for wood surfaces. Also note that the porcelain in the bathroom chips or cracks easily if something is dropped on it.
Please turn off the heat and any lights when leaving for the day.
Please note that there may be times when I need to use the kitchen for work and access can be limited during these times. I will be happy to work out a solution with you if it should coincide with your needs.
In the interest of their safety, it is very important that the cats don't go outside - but they will try to at every opportunity! Please keep doors leading outside closed at all times and be on the lookout for their escape attempts. If they should get out, please contact me right away. Thanks!
Pay-per-view is available for purchase.
If any damage occurs during your stay, kindly inform me prior to check out.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to helping you make your visit to San Francisco an unforgettable experience.
this trip was my first airbnb experience and it worked out as well as I could have hoped. Danielle is a warm host with a comfortable and quiet home. the guest room has a great bed, large chair and is brightened by the three large windows that look out over her back yard. The neighborhood is quiet and bird filled. I especially enjoyed hearing the sounds of the neighborhood birds. Her home is convenient to all forms of mass transit. I took BART to all of my activities and depending on your plans it is possible to stay at her home and not need a car. The BART station is a short 10 minute walk. A nearby bus stop took me to the Presidio for a round of golf. I used BART for travel to Berkley for a celebration dinner with my daughter at a famed restaurant. I enjoyed several conversations with Danielle about life and food and would enjoy staying with her again on another trip. Danielle is a professional chef and seems to know the dining scene in the Bay Area quite well. I dined at three different spots and she knew each one. Additionally I enjoyed her advice about food prep and shopping which I can use in my own kitchen. In sum a fun experience in a warm and personable environment.
Danielle and her son Emerson were wonderful hosts. I felt at home immediately upon arrival. Her home is beautiful and spacious. The neighborhood is peaceful and safe, and yet very convenient for all your public transportation needs — catch a quick Bart or muni ride and you're wherever you need to be in the city. Danielle is very considerate, and stocked my favorite breakfast foods and had coffee ready every morning. I stayed with Danielle while I was looking for an apartment and starting my new job in SF, and her home was such a welcoming and relaxing environment during a very stressful time. I would very highly recommend staying in Danielle's home!
Danielle is a generous person, easy to get along with and a great host. The place was very clean and the coffee nice and strong! Great experience!
Danielle is a fantastic host: from the moment I stepped into her gorgeous house, she made me feel right at home. I think I was her 2nd or 3rd guest but she’s clearly a natural at hosting people: she’s warm, generous and simply fabulous - always ready to go the extra mile to make your life easier! She asked me beforehand what I liked for breakfast and she prepared the most delicious fresh bagels with cream cheese, yogurt, strong coffee, fresh fruits and juice, kept me going until dinner time :)
Her house is spotless from top to bottom and decorated with a lot of taste. She managed to keep most of the original features and the garden is a wonderful retreat to chill out after a day out and about in the city. My bedroom was really comfortable with really nice bedding and towels :)
Location wise, the house is in a quaint and quiet street, only a couple of blocks away from Mission street and most public transport is a short walk away to get you to wherever you need to be in the city. Danielle’s cats are adorable and captain Xavier will cuddle up with you on the sofa when you’re jetlagged!!
I would highly recommend this property as the perfect place to stay in SF, I would definitely stay there again next time around.
Danielle is a great host and her place is beautiful and in a nice neighborhood. She accommodated me at the very last minute, even offered to pick me up at the airport- at midnight! That night she gave me a ride into the mission where I was meeting friends, she was helpful with directions, always offering food and coffee. She is laid back and nice to talk to, her son Emerson is adorable and I really enjoyed my stay there. Thanks again Danielle!

I think one of the best ways to appreciate other cultures is through the local cuisine - squash blossom and huitlacoche quesadillas in SJD, bacon-wrapped hot dogs in the mission, or jerk snapper on the beach in Ocho Rios. "Tell me what you eat and I will tell you who you are" by Brillat Savarin is one of my favorite quotes. I am a private chef and teach private cooking classes in San Francisco and the surrounding bay area. I'm 46 and have two beautiful kids: Scarlett (who now lives in New York) and my almost grown son, Emerson.
If you're reading this to learn what type of guest I would be, I can only tell you that I'm honest, mature, easy-going and respectful of people's property and I treat people as I would like to be treated.
My motto in life is: Yes!
