The Space

Hello, thanks for reading this.

Our house is situated in Didsbury, one of Manchester's liveliest areas with lots of busy bars restaurants and cafes within a short walk. The house is very close to excellent 24 hour, high frequency bus services to the city centre, universities and hospitals. Didsbury has now been linked up to the city's tram system. We are 3 minutes walk from the West Didsbury tram stop, which connects with the city centre via Chorlton. Although close to local amenities, the street is quiet and does not suffer from traffic noise.

We have three rooms that are listed on Airbnb. Two are large en-suite rooms and there is a smaller room, which is not en-suite but which has an attractive adjacent bathroom. The other rooms are listed under "Dbl Room good access to city centre" and "Comfortable en-suite room, Didsbury".

The room you are viewing is our largest room, with generous wardrobe space and has a king-sized bed. There is also plenty of room for a cot. The large en-suite bathroom is equipped with a shower and has recently been decorated. Both the bedroom and the bathroom have large windows looking out to the front of the house. These are clearly seen in the photo of the house exterior.

TV is available in the lounge and wireless broadband is also available. A buffet style breakfast is included consisting of home made breads, cereals, fruit and yoghurt but we are happy to provide a traditional cooked breakfast (£4.00 supplement), packed lunches and evening meals by prior arrangment.

You can see from our reviews that many of our guests have enjoyed our evening meals. We like to cook and we have a wide choice of meals that we can offer. All our meals are prepared from good quality fresh ingredients and all our sauces are home made. Ask us what is available if you are interested. Meals can be taken at the breakfast bar or in the dining room.

The house is well located for Manchester Airport, which can be reached by train or bus, and for the universities. Parking is on-street but safe and there is plenty of space.

  • Thanks Bob and Christine for making us feel very at home. It suited our needs perfectly for the 2 1/2 weeks to visit our sons as well as do trips out from Manchester - was great to have a 'homely base'" to return to. Always looked forward to the breakfast - especially 'Bob's muesli". Lovely hosts - thanks again, Janey and Roland.

  • You will be warmly welcome by Bob & Christin. They are welcoming and warm while remaining simple. They are there for you at any time.
To share diner with them during the evening is a smart time and you will experience listening very good music.
The room was perfect : quiet and comfortable. The bus stop is very close to the house (100 m). The bus brings you to the center of Manchester in 30 minutes.

  • It was a very lovely experience. It was the first time I´ve booked via Airbnb and I´d do it again.

The owners are very kind and friendly, they were trustworthy. We had long conversations and they give us some advice about what we can visit to enjoy Manchester. We arrived early and they even offered us breakfast.

We booked a small room but they moved us to the bigger room which had a huge and rebuilted bathroom. The house was well-located in a very quiet neighberhood. There are some bars around the house where enjoy the night.

  • Bob and Christine are amazing hosts! As we share the same interest in cooking, we cooked a special italian meal for them on our arrival. They are extremely polite and nice people. The house and the room were just perfect, as well as the location, with the metrolink connection to the city center just 2 minutes walking distance. Really nice breakfast (upon request you ca ask for the full english breakfast ). Perfect stay, perfect room/house, perfect host, I really hope that one day we could be hosted again from them! It really made our Manchester trip special.thank you Agnese&Bea

  • I count myself very lucky to have chanced upon Bob and Christine. They are perfect hosts. The room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. I felt very safe and comfortable at their beautiful house and would recommend it to everybody. Also, Didsbury is a very picturesque and quiet place to come home to after the bustling city center of Manchester.

I retired early (4 years ago) from a professional role in order to spend more time with my camera. The camera bit didn't really work out as I spend most of my time keeping house and looking after our wonderful guests. Christine works in admin. We live in a largish Edwardian semi. We are a very sociable couple and we enjoy the social life in our community. When she is not out at work Christine is the nice one who makes cakes, bakes bread and makes our guests feel relaxed and welcome. I do most of the meeting and greeting, preparing our guest rooms, fixing breakfasts, researching local information and all the other little bits and pieces that help to make your stay memorable and enjoyable. We both love cooking (and eating) and we enjoy preparing food for, and dining with, our guests. We try to remove processed foods from our diet as much as possible and we follow the same ethos when catering for our guests. Most of the foodstuffs we use for breakfast are home made. The meals that we provide in the evening are all cooked from fresh ingredients. Guests seem to enjoy our house. Our house is clean but It is certainly not the tidiest house you will have seen. There are usually a few bits of clutter lying around. Books, newspapers and grandchildren's art work are often sprinkled around the place. I always tell Christine that a bit of clutter adds atmosphere to a home. She doesn't always agree.
