Public transportation is available through the public bus n°60 that goes directly from center of Split to our place and back. It is DIRECT from center ad there is no need for change or correspondence. There are also some private small buses, servicing the same route that you can take.

Concerning how to get to the place the first time or at the end of your stay:
we recommend you let us pick you up at airport. We charge only 15euros to cover our expenses of gas and parking at airport (average taxi price is 50euros). Also this way my dad can show you some good spots and places while he drives you.

If you are coming with a car: don’t worry: you can park in our house garden for free.

  • I spent a week at Dana's Family Rental and really enjoyed my stay. The room and apartment is just as described and offered one of the best bathrooms I had throughout my various airbnb experiences.

As it is away from the main street, up on a hill, it is not only quiet but one also gets a wonderful view over the bay all the way to Split which can easily reached by bus, or car of course. By bus Split is probably some 20 mins away. Buses run all day until midnight in 30 mins intervals. Various supermarkets, bakeries, etc. are conveniently located within walking distance from the apartment.

During my stay, only Dana's father was present. He is not only a kind and welcoming person but also has a lot of knowledge about the area and the country which is very helpful if one needs advice or information.

Definitely a place I would highly recommend.

  • Staying with Dana's Family Rentals was fantastic! Dana's father Jani went above and beyond, by not only picking us up from the bus station in Split, but also returning us one week later at 4:30 in the morning. He gave us a brief tour by car of Split, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and everything that a visitor might want to see.

The apartment itself was great. Very well-equipped kitchen in the large common-area. Jani provided a space heater since the nights were a little chilly, and helped us to access the Internet.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in Podstrana!

  • My Stay in Podstrana, a 10 minuets bus ride from Split, with Jani was great! Really lovely place and Jani is a great host, very warm and loves to know about you (unfortunately, did not get to meet his wife Dana as she was working when I was there). Jani picked me me up from the ferry port and when we arrived at his place, we shared a long cool drink in his garden - well needed on a beautiful hot day.! Jani is so helpful, generous, sincere and loves meeting people. I recommend Jani as a host, The 10 minuet climb up a hill to his place takes a little getting used to, but its worth while when you are greeted with a warm smile.! Highly recommended

  • We had a wonderful stay at Dana's place. Dana and her husband are lovely people, they took care of us more than we could have expected, dinner, wine and good tips to enjoy Split! We slept in Josipa's room, their daughter, who you are in touch with when you book a room, so we shared the flat with Dana and her husband. Wonderful view from the private terrace!
    Dana speaks a perfect French.
    We highly recommend this place!

  • Me and my friend had a great time staying in Podstrana. Dana's partens were really helpfull and couteous. they showed us some nice places to visit and made our stay as comfortable as they could. because the week we stayed there was really hot we could barely sleep in the 4th floor without an AC. furthermore Dana's partents offered us drinks and food and even dana's room to rest on our days of arrival and departure, which was really nice! thank you for the great days!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Podstrana at Dana's Family. Although we had just booked one room for two nights, we had an entire apartment with kitchen, lounge, 2 balconys etc., which was shared with two other guests (2 Rooms in total). The place is on top of a steep hill, which gives you a fantastic sea view. Everything was very clean and its a tranquil area at night.

Dana's parents who rent the place are just lovely. They gave us a very warm welcome and as much information about the area as we wanted, with possibilites for excursions, etc. Much better than the official tourist informations we visited in Split and Dubrovnik, where the employes were a bit unfriendly. One time, they even gave us some yummy Chicken-Pasta and fresh tomatoes, what a great surprise :) Overall you can't do much wrong with this place. The only small downside we noticed was the heat at night, because the place has no AC (yet, they plan to get some), but it was August in Croatia, so that's something you can expect :) And we've been on the top floor, there's another apartment downstairs where it's probably cooler. Thx for your hospitality!

  • Our hosts made a mistake with our booking because there was a misunderstanding about the dates between them and their daughter (who is the one helping them with the booking here on the website) that put them in overbooking and caused us an inconvenience because we had no choice than to change rooms at the fifth day of our stay for the only room still available in their house: the room of their daughter (who was not there at that time but at her studies abroad). We were unhappy with that because we weren’t properly informed in advance of the change and because we preferred the first room we were in that was more suitable for rent (not filled with personal stuff), but at the end since we still got a room as we paid for and a lot of nice free extras (like breakfast, lunches, laundry) that were a try of our hosts to make up for the inconvenience they caused to us, we recognise that nice effort. And apart from that incident our hosts were very nice to us, we enjoyed morning coffee made by them and also had a chance to try Dana's cooking which was quite fantastic. We were transferred there and back to the airport for a small fee by the father. All in all our stay in Podstrana was very nice, and we came back to Germany with great memories from this trip.

  • The people:
Our hosts were simply inspiring. One of the reasons we travel is to meet new friends in the world community. These lovely people made us feel like we had found a new home (that just happened to be located in an amazing part of the world). Their recommendations regarding where to go were spot on and just meeting and talking with them is a wonderful way to begin. We would certainly stay again and plan to return both to Croatia and to the property.
    The place:
The house is centrally located, just outside the very busy city. Easy to find and lots of personal space as well as a common area. The room was very clean and the common area includes any kitchen necessities. Just for the record, even the people we met who were also staying at the property are now our friends.
There is a little restaurant called Fabio's, a five minute walk from the house. Very good beer and food, including cheeseburgers (really) and pizza, and the most reasonable prices around.
BTW, you must see Dubrovnik when you travel here. Split is amazing, but take the drive along the coast (not the main highway) for a breathtaking view of the area.
In short, we could not have been happier with our hosts and our stay.

  • Dana's dad made my stay really nice - waiting out for me at the foot of the hill when i arrived, bringing us fresh farm eggs for breakfast, and dropping by every day to ask if we needed anything. Truly amazing!
