Francois and his girlfriend rented my bedroom for a month with shared bath and kitchen. Since I was out of town I asked them to pick up the keys from a friend a block away. On the other hand they had the apartment to themselves during their stay as I let them use the whole apartment including the room (which they had not rented) where the lower part of a window had just broken (the outer glass was shattered but the window was till functioning with one glass). I didn't have time to fix the window before heading out of town so I taped it up. Instead of telling them to close the door to the room and not use it, I suggested they could tape a blanket over that part of the widow if too much cold air was coming in with just the one glass panel. The heat in the building works great by the way. It's an old building and sometimes the heaters make some noise if the water pressure in the system is off. If that happened in the middle of the night and bothered them I suggested they could turn off the heater in the bedroom and then turn it back on. Also they complained that there were not enough clean sheets... I had left them with one set of clean sheets and one set of towels. It's not a hotel after all. But since they wanted more I told them where they could find more clean sheets in a closet and offered to pay for having some dirty ones cleaned that my previous guest had left behind which is what I did. Francois left the apartment having used up four sets of sheets and every last towel... Everything was dirty when I returned. Finally the oven. Francois messaged me telling me the oven was not working (the stove was working fine). This was news to me but I never use it so I don't know if it broke before their arrival. I was not able to have it fixed during their stay since I was out of town. Regardless it seemed to me the guests were happy in the apartment since they asked me to prolong their stay with several additional months which I was not able to accommodate.
Danke, Casper!
We stayed at Casper's apartment over Christmas and it was great! Clean, a great sized apartment for New York and great location 5mins walk from Union Sq station which is great for transport links! Check in and check out was easy! A great place to stay for a real feel of New York living!
Casper was easy to contact if we needed anything or had any questions.
We will definitely be staying again for our next trip back to New York!
Casper was an excellent host. He was on time to check me in and check out was simple too. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed for a week stay. The location is close to the L train, grocery stores and great restaurants. Union Square is very close to catch a subway anywhere in NYC. I plan to stay again in the future.
Although we didn't get to meet Casper, he was very helpful and responded quickly to all of our questions! The flat was exactly as described and in great condition. The neighbourhood was nice and very well located. We found a great little breakfast spot close by :)
I'm originally from Sweden but have lived in New York almost 20 years. I work in the film business which means that I travel a lot for work. But I also love traveling for fun and spend longer times in new places. Favorite cities around the world are Paris, Stockholm and Rio.
