Margaretenplatz and the Schlossquadrat are the heart of Margareten, Vienna’s 5th district. Increasing numbers of small design shops are making this up-and-coming area their home. Not to mention the numerous dining establishments.
Silberwirt Silberwirt in the Schlossquadrat
Shop from inside Urban Tool
Salesfloor of a boutique Pia Mia
Shop for furniture Suppan & Suppan
If you stop by Margaretenplatz, you shouldn't miss out on the diverse dining scene in the Schlossquadrat. The offer ranges from basic Austrian cuisine at the Silberwirt to Italian delicacies at Trattoria Margareta.
The Filmcasino is also always worth a visit. The repertory cinema in the style of the 1950s screens many independent films in the original language.
Retro-lovers can get their money's worth in the shop Design of the 20th century. From the kidney-shaped table to the bedside lamp from the 1960s, the place is full of some seldom seen specimens.
Another shop on Margaretenplatz surprises with innovative and sporty bag design from Urban Tool. The Austrian design label develops products that enable users to wear mobile devices such as cell phones, notebooks and cameras close to their bodies in a comfortable and fashion-conscious way.
French shopping flair is another draw on Margaretenplatz. The enchanting boutique Le Miroir offers fashion from France: Cop.Copine, Princesse Nomade and Flo, for example. Proof that Austrian fashion is also chic is provided by the label Pia Mia with timeless, elegant designs. Loose-fitting dresses, skirts and shirts hang here as eye-catchers on wooden branches.
Those who take a detour to Suppan & Suppan will find a paradise of ethnic furniture and accessories.
Clean and convenient to almost everywhere in downtown Vienna. Maria's place was clean and very safe. Her directions and information are the best we have seen in our many travels. Subway was five minutes away.
We had a very nice stay in Maria's flat. We stayed in one of 4-5 rooms rented out within the apartment. Private shower and sink were nice amenities to have, and the room was very clean. Toilet is down the hall and shared with other guests; the rest of the apartment is small but sufficient for basic amenities including a small refrigerator, stove etc. If you are interested in a clean, safe room to stay with easy access to the Metro (just a few blocks away) while sightseeing in Vienna, this is a very nice place to do it. Maria was very responsive to communication prior to and during our stay, and provided an excellent written guide that helped steer us toward places to see in Vienna.
We had just one night in Vienna in one of Maria's private rooms and we had a wonderful time. The room was clean and very pretty, and the common areas in the apartment were very handy and thorough despite being in small spaces. The apartment overall was a very quiet home base. We didn't meet Maria, but she was very accommodating to us and allowed us to leave our luggage for the day after check out so we could explore Vienna un encumbered before a night train to Zurich. All in all, great value, good location (especially to the market!!) and a lovely stay in Vienna.
Maria moved me into a studio apartment, instead of a room, which I was delighted with. The apartment is in a beautiful part of Vienna, close to some spectacular Otto Wagner houses and the Naschmarkt. My space looked out into a courtyard and was extremely quiet. The kitchen drawer contained scissors and a sewing kit, and the walls had interesting murals. Code rather than keys suited me beautifully - I can never seem to make keys work. Instructions for finding the apartment were very clear.
The location of this spot is really perfect! Next to the Naschmarket and a 15 minute walk to the centre of Vienna. Nice neighborhood and a couple of good local cafés for breakfast if you want to eat it out and not get something from the market. A 24 hour bakery around the corner and not noisy. The apartment and the rooms are spotlessly clean and nicely furnished (very IKEA) with good bedding. Not the Ritz but very nice for the price.
Maria and her husband are lovely thoughtful friendly hosts. There was a glitch on their part with the reservation and they fixed it quickly and nicely. They go out of their way for their guests. I have no hesitation recommending this spot or the hosts.
we spent a short week at the apartment and it all went smooth and easy. the apartment is exactly as it is described on the site and all communications were flawless and very fast. compliments and recommended!
Macht es gut also!
Dear Georgios, i will have to say that your complain is not fair for me. Of course that the website shows the lowest possible price, but this price is calculated on a rate for 1 person in a low season. In all cases, once you enter your dates and number of guests, you are able to see the total price that you will be charged with all the service fees and cleaning fees and so on. Total- not even a cent more. So I trhink that you should make the calculation before to book and when it is expencive for you- book a hotel. There was even one hotel right next to us. Single room for 148Euro/night and 30Euro for a breakfast. Same location and almost the same price, right?
I spent two nights in one of Maria's apartments and had a nice stay in Vienna indeed. The apartment is located close to public transport, so you can easily get wherever you want to go during your trip. The room was nice, very clean, bright and cheerful and even had a private toilet and well equipped kitchen (which I did not need). The bed was very comfy as well. I did meet Maria just for a few minutes, but had a very nice email correspondence before my arrival. Welcome package and door codes worked perfectly well. During the first night I was a bit unlucky with a bit noisy neighbors in the room next door, but of course Maria is by no means to blame for that, as she has done her best to provide sound isolation and also has signs around asking her guest to keep their voices down after 10 p.m. (And of course I could have gotten up to knock their door - but I did not feel like meeting strangers in my nighties and had earwax.) The second night was perfectly silent anyway. :-) I can clearly recommend staying at Maria's and will certainly come back when I have business in Vienna again - or if I am going there for a holiday. Thanks Maria!
Perfekte Unterkunft - zentral, sehr nettes Ambiente, unkomplizierte Abwicklung, ausführliches Infomaterial - sehr zu empfehlen.
