There is easy access from Tavira by ferry to the miles of sandy and safe beaches on Tavira Island. Santa Luzia village 5 minutes drive from Tavira has a beautiful beach called Barril which is situated in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and is easily reached by a small train from Pedras Del Rei. Other nearby beaches include Manta Rota, Fuzeta and Monte Gordo. Golden sandy beaches.
The apartment is situated near to 3 excellent golf courses within a 4-8km distance: Benamor 18 holes, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima 18 holes each in a superb location.
Tavira is about 35kms from Faro airport and there is an excellent taxi, train or bus service. There are comfortable and reliable train and bus services to most points in the Algarve. Car hire is therefore, not essential.
Tavira town centre is within easy walking distance. The Spanish border is a 20km drive away, passing the hilltop village of Castro Marim with its well preserved Castle and 17th Century Fort. Faro is half an hour's drive away, has a large hypermarket 12 screen cinema and shopping complex. The historic city of Seville is 2 hours by car.
Tavira is an attractive and historic town where River Gilao runs through the centre of the town and is spanned by four bridges including the historic Roman bridge. There are a number of attractive churches, and you can climb up to the remains of the castle and view the town from the its ancient walls, 18th century buildings and a local market. The local fishing boats still supply the town's restaurants and the harbour provides an interesting backdrop to the town.
Tavira has a traditional Portuguese atmosphere and offers a wide range of restaurants, including excellent sea food, bars and shops. The Ria Formosa Natural Park is a haven for over 30,000 migratory birds and has an interesting self guided nature trail.
Conveniently located, in a safe area, quiet, outdoor patio, plenty of kitchen space and cheap. This flat is about 200 yards to the train station. Don’t worry: Although a train crossing bell rings intermittently, you can’t hear it. A Lidl grocery store is about 300 yards away and, if you have a car, the ramp to the main highway slicing through the southern portion of Portugal (again, no worries, you can’t hear the highway traffic) is less than a five-minute drive.
If you’re indecisive and spend countless hours mulling over Air BnB locations, just stick with this place. In my time in Tavira I realized that there isn’t much of a distinction between good, really good and great places. For what it’s worth, this place has everything you’d need to comfortably house at least one couple (two if necessary) for at least 10 days.
The owner has left behind a resourceful and personalized guidebook. Use it. The owner has also left behind a stereo with a trove of trashy 80’s music and Latino pop hits. I’ve never understood Europeans taste in music.
The flat we stayed in Tavira is spacious and very well equipped with all you could have in your own house!
It's well located too, few minutes walk by city centre or supermarket.
We had problem with communication, we wrote e-mails or sms from ten days to the day before the arrival without answers until few hours from Tavira's and finally we didn't find the person with keys appartment...
Spacious, clean and quiet apartment with great roof terrace two flights up. Nice ten minute walk in to the centre of Faro and nearby large supermarket (Lidl!). No internet though.
Spacious apartment, very comfortable with everything you need. Local cafes nearby for breakfast and only a pleasant 10 minute walk into the centre, The only downside is that the balcony faces out onto the main road.
We enjoyed our stay at the flat in Tavira. The flat is large, open and very well equipped. The location was an easy walk to Tavira Centro for sightseeing, restaurants and relaxing along the riverfront. We especially enjoyed the flat's large, well appointed kitchen with clothes washer, the comfortable lounge with ample seating, the good eclectic selection of music CD's and the little table on the balcony. The flat can be noisy at times when people are coming and going or visiting in the lobby. Mr. Ze the caretaker was very helpful and promptly responded when we (embarrassingly) locked ourselves out of the flat. We think the flat would especially appeal to families who need a little more room and amenities such as TV, electronic games and movies. Cristina has done a nice job putting together an information binder about Tavira, restaurant recommendations, maps, etc. There is also a good selection of English languages books. We would recommend the flat if you are planning a trip to Tavira.
The apartment is in a great location. Cristina's directions were perfect and easy to follow. There is a supermarket right around the corner which is very convenient. The apartment is very clean and the kitchen is well stocked with spices and a dishwasher. We loved that there was a selection of movies to watch. Great place in Tavira!
it is beautiful place, close (5-10min) to the old town of Tavira, a lot of space, 2 bedrooms a huge lounge and tv.........and the best: the description to go there and the handling of the arriving at 2 o´clock in the morning was very very great. I absolutely will book it again.
